"You trained him too. So how is it my fault? Are you trying to push the blame on me?" Grandma asked.
They continue arguing.
"Grandpa, I'm going upstairs," wendy she said before leaving.
"What's wrong with her? She doesn't look happy," Grandpa said.
Meanwhile, when the car stopped, Selena looked outside.
She was about to open the door when Lucian spoke.
"Don't listen to what they were saying.
And next time, you don't have to answer them. Just let me do the talking."
"But you can't keep speaking for me. I can handle things myself," Selena said, her voice slightly rough.
Just then, her phone rang.
When she looked at the number, she already knew who it was.
Lucian noticed that she seemed hesitant to answer.
"Why aren't you picking up?" he asked.
Selena took a breath and answered the call.
"Hello, Selena."
"Hi," Selena replied.
"Are you free tonight?" Mike asked.
Selena glanced at Lucian before replying.
"Oh, no. I won't be."
"Okay, but I'd love to catch up with you when you're less busy," Mike said.
"Um, Mike, I don't really know when I'll be less busy."
"Okay, fine," he cut her off. "Give me your address. I'll come see you later, if you don't mind.
Selena didn't know what to say.
"Okay," she finally replied before ending the call.
"Hmm, I'll get going now," she said.
She was about to step out of the car when she heard Lucian's voice.
"So, where do you think you're going?"
She turned to look at him.
"Home, of course."
She was already tired of his cold tone.
"So, how do you explain this?" he asked.
"What?"
Selena asked.
"Selena, you clearly heard what I said."
"There's nothing going on between us, so you need to stop worrying."
Lucian didn't respond immediately. He didn't even understand why he was so worked up about it.
Selena stepped out of the car and walked toward the house.
When Selena entered, she saw her dad sitting in the living room watching TV.
When he heard the door open, he turned around and saw Selena. His face immediately brightened.
"My child!" he said happily.
Selena smiled and went to hug him.
"Oh, my child. I thought you were going to break your promise this time."
"No, Daddy."
Just then, Selena's mom walked in.
"Honey, do you—" She stopped midway when she saw Selena.
"Mom," Selena called.
Selena quickly stood up and went to hug her.
"So, you decided to come today?" her mom asked, pretending to be angry.
"Mom, I was busy. You know I love you guys so much."
"I know," Selena's mom said with a smile.
They all sat down.
"Do you want something?" her mom asked.
"No, Mom."
"Okay, so how is your job hunting going?" Selena's mom asked.
Selena's dad smiled.
"She already got the job at Blackstone Company."
Selena's mom looked confused.
"What job? You told me you didn't get it."
Selena smiled before answering.
"They called me back."
Her mom looked at her in surprise before lightly tapping her husband.
"And you didn't even tell me?"
"I'm so sorry, my wife. I forgot."
"Fine," her mom said. "You guys wait here. I'm preparing something delicious."
She then tapped Selena's nose.
"You'll like it," she said with a smile.
Just before she was about to go to the kitchen, someone knocked on the door.
"Are you expecting anybody?" she asked.
"No," her dad answered.
Selena's mom went to open the door and saw a young man standing outside.
"Good evening," the man greeted.
"Um, are you looking for someone?" she asked.
"Yes. I'm looking for Selena."
When she heard that name, she turned around and looked at Selena.
Selena also looked toward the door.
Her eyes widened when she saw Lucian standing there.
She quickly stood up and walked toward him.
"What are you doing here?" she whispered.
"You forgot your phone," he said, holding it out to her.
Selena looked at the phone and suddenly remembered that she had left it in the car.
She had thought she would come back for it, but she completely forgot.
Lucian noticed it and decided to bring it to her.
"So, Selena, who is this young man?" her mom teased.
"He is..."
"I'm her boyfriend," Lucian cut her off.
Selena's mom froze.
She clearly hadn't expected that answer.
Just then, Selena's dad came over, curious about what they were talking about.
"What?"
Everyone turned to look at him.
"Boyfriend?" he asked, looking at Selena. "Selena, when did you start keeping secrets?"
"Please come inside" Selena dad said.
"Dad he's very busy. I'm not..." "Selena tried too say something
But Lucian cut her off again.
They all went back inside, and Selena sat down, tapping her head in frustration.
"Why is this guy so annoying?" She said to herself.
Her mom quickly went to prepare the table while Selena sat close to her dad.
"Why are you sitting here?" her dad asked.
"Dad, please."
She wrapped her arms around him.
Her dad looked at Lucian.
"Young man, what's your name?
"Lucian," he answered politely.
"So, wait. How did you guys meet?" her dad asked.
Lucian explained everything.
That was when Selena's dad realized that Lucian was the same guy from the date he and the old man had arranged for her.
But he didn't say anything.
Just then, Selena's mom came back.
"Come on, everyone. The food is ready."
"My son, come and join us," Selena's dad said.
Lucian nodded politely.
"Thank you."
They all walked to the dining room.
Selena was surprised.
How did this cold man suddenly become so calm?
This was another side of Lucian she was only just beginning to see.
During the meal, they didn't say much. Selena's parents didn't bombard Lucian with questions either. They simply ate and talked normally.
After they finished eating, Selena stayed with her parents for a while, talking and enjoying their company.
Eventually, it was time for them to leave.
They walked outside and got into the car.
"Take care, my child," her mom said, waving.
"Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad."
Her parents waved goodbye as the car drove away.
For a while, neither Selena nor Lucian said anything.
The car remained quiet as they drove toward Selena's apartment.
Selena looked out the window, still thinking about everything that had happened.
First, Lucian had suddenly announced that he was her boyfriend in front of her parents.
And now he was sitting beside her as if nothing had happened.
She quietly sighed.
When they finally arrived at her apartment, Lucian stopped the car.
Selena reached for the door handle.
But before she could get out, Lucian spoke.
"Selena."
