"I'll help you find your mother."
Selena nodded slowly.
"I haven't forgotten."
She opened the door and stepped out.
Lucian watched as she walked toward the house.
When Selena entered, Mia immediately rushed toward her.
"So?!" Mia asked excitedly.
Selena looked at her.
"So what?"
Mia stared at her suspiciously.
Selena let out a small laugh before slowly bringing out the marriage certificate.
Mia's eyes widened.
"No way!"
Selena quickly put a finger to her lips.
"Shhh!"
Mia grabbed her arm.
"You're actually married?!"
Selena nodded.
"I can't believe it either."
Mia looked at the certificate again before looking at Selena.
"So, what are you going to tell your parents?"
Selena's expression suddenly changed.
She hadn't thought about that.
"Oh no..."
Mia frowned.
"What?"
"I haven't told my parents. I didn't get the chance to tell them yesterday when I went there."
"It's fine. I believe they'll understand," Mia said.
Meanwhile, Lucian went to the company.
When he got there, he received a call from Adrian.
"Are you at the company?" Adrian asked.
"Yes," Lucian replied.
"All right."
That was the only thing Adrian said before hanging up.
Lucian picked up the phone and made another call.
A few minutes later, Elias knocked on the door.
"Come in," Lucian said.
Elias walked in.
"Sir, you called for me?"
Lucian handed him a document.
"I want you to handle this."
Elias took it.
"I want it done before the end of this week."
"Okay, sir," he replied before leaving.
As he walked away, he kept murmuring to himself.
"Why can't his assistant do it? And where is she, by the way?"
When a colleague walked past him, she noticed his expression.
"Sir, are you okay?"
Elias looked at her.
"Does it look like I'm not?" he asked, looking annoyed.
Back in the main office area, a colleague suddenly spoke.
"Don't you guys think this new assistant is getting really close to the boss?"
"That's not true," another one said.
"The CEO doesn't like women. I mean, we haven't seen him with any woman around."
Then Anna spoke up.
"So you guys didn't see the video of him saying he's going to get married very soon?"
"What?" they all gasped.
"Are you sure about what you're saying?" one of them asked.
Anna pulled out her phone and showed them the video.
"But wait a minute. Why are you guys talking like you don't watch the internet?" she asked.
Just then, Elias came in.
"What are you guys talking about?"
They all went silent.
He looked at them suspiciously.
"Did you come here to gossip? Now go back to work," he shouted.
They all quickly focused on their work.
Finally, Adrian arrived at the company.
He opened the door and saw Lucian resting his head against his chair.
When Lucian looked up, he saw him.
"Don't you know how to knock?" he asked, but his tone wasn't angry.
"Oh, my bad. Next time," Adrian said with a smile before sitting down.
"Your best friend just came back, and you couldn't even hug him. Yet you're lecturing me about knocking before coming in."
Lucian rolled his eyes.
"You wish."
Adrian burst out laughing.
"You know this cold attitude of yours isn't going to take you anywhere. And by the way, where is your girlfriend?"
Lucian looked at him.
"Wife."
Adrian stared at him.
"Wait. Do you even know who I'm talking about? I'm talking about the girl you went on a date with, and you're telling me she's your wife?"
Lucian didn't respond.
That's when Adrian realized he wasn't joking.
"Wait, talk to me, bro."
Lucian simply handed him the marriage certificate.
When Adrian looked at it, his eyes widened.
"Wow. Are you serious? Is this even real? The great Lucian, who is uninterested in women, just got married. This is amazing!"
He laughed, teasing him.
"If I leak this, I'm going to make a lot of money. What do you think?"
"You dare not," Lucian said.
"Wait, did she agree to move in with you?" Adrian asked.
"No. She wants to stay with her friend, who just came back to the country," he replied.
"Oh, that's a pity," Adrian mocked.
"But we should go celebrate this."
"I'll pass. Maybe some other time."
"Okay, fine. But you have to bring your wife with you so she can come thank me for taking care of your cold ass," Adrian said.
"You're very stupid," Lucian replied.
They both laughed before starting to talk about business, unaware that Ariana was already back in the country.
Meanwhile, at the hotel, Ariana was sitting with Tina.
"Have you done what I asked you to?" Ariana asked.
"Yes," Tina replied. "I investigated where he's staying and found out."
"So I bought the house in that area. Luckily, the owner was willing to sell it," Ariana said.
Tina looked at her in surprise.
"You really went that far?"
Ariana smiled.
"I told you I wanted to find him."
"Very good," Ariana said, smiling. "I think I need to give you a raise."
Tina smiled.
"Thank you, ma."
Later that evening, Lucian got home.
He went straight to his room, took off his jacket, and sat down on the bed.
He was tired, but his mind was still on everything that had happened earlier.
He was married.
Lucian sighed and leaned back.
He still couldn't believe he had actually gone to the marriage registry and signed those papers with Selena.
A few days ago, she was just a woman he barely knew. Now, she was his wife.
"Did I really just get married?"
He shook his head and let out a small laugh.
His family had been pressuring him to settle down for a long time, but he never expected it to happen this way.
He picked up his phone and stared at the screen for a moment.
He thought about calling her, but stopped himself.
"What would I even say?"
He dropped the phone back on the bed and stood up.
