Chapter 22 - chapter 22_ married

That night, when Ariana saw the video of Lucian saying that he was about to get a wife, she trembled with jealousy.

"Tina, book me a flight. I'm going back to the country," she said.

"Really?" Tina asked.

Ariana looked at her. "Of course."

The next morning, Selena woke up and went to look for Mia.

She found her cooking in the kitchen.

Mia turned around and saw her.

"Are you not going to work today?" she asked.

"No, I'm not," Selena answered lazily.

"Why?" Mia asked.

"We're going to the marriage registry today."

"Wow," Mia said.

Selena sighed. "But I'm scared. I don't know if I'm making the right decision or making a huge mistake."

Mia looked at her and tried to comfort her.

"There's a saying, you never know until you try. You just have to follow your heart."

Selena nodded.

"Thank you, Mia."

They both sat down and ate breakfast together.

Meanwhile, at Lucian's house, everyone was having breakfast when Grandma spoke.

"You didn't come home early last night. Where were you?"

"Grandma, I was busy," Lucian replied.

Grandma nodded.

"Well, now that you finally have a girlfriend, I don't want you to play around.

I know you're not that kind of person, but I still want you to remember that."

Lucian sighed.

"Grandma, are you just going to keep lecturing me all day?"

Everyone laughed.

Grandpa picked up his book.

"Lucian, go check on Wendy. She hasn't been saying anything since yesterday."

Lucian stood up.

"Better not be what I'm thinking," Grandma muttered.

Lucian mom looked at her. "What are you thinking?" She asked.

Grandma looked at her. "Why do you want to know?"

Lucian walked upstairs.

He knocked on Wendy's door.

When Wendy opened the door, she never expected to see Lucian standing there.

"Good morning, brother," she greeted.

"Can I come in?" Lucian asked.

"Yes, of course," she quickly replied.

Lucian walked inside and sat down. Wendy looked at him nervously.

"Um... why are you here? I mean, do you have something to say?"

Lucian laughed.

"Grandpa said you haven't been looking happy, and you didn't come downstairs for dinner or breakfast."

Wendy frowned.

"Don't listen to them. I'm fine." She forced a smile.

"Wendy, are you sure you're okay?" Lucian asked.

"Yes, I'm fine."

"You know you can talk to me anytime," he said.

She nodded.

Lucian stood up.

"How is your girlfriend?" Wendy suddenly asked.

Lucian looked at her and smiled slightly.

"She's fine."

Wendy smiled back.

As soon as Lucian left the room, Wendy's smile disappeared.

She sat quietly for a moment before her expression turned bitter.

"Ever since he went on that dinner date, he barely talks to me," she muttered angrily.

She clenched her hands.

"He rarely talks to me, and now he already has a girlfriend."

She was jealous because she felt like Lucian was going to start paying more attention to Selena.

Meanwhile,

Grandpa was sitting in his study when his phone suddenly rang.

He glanced at the screen and saw Victor's name.

For a moment, he simply stared at it.

He was still deeply disappointed in his son.

Victor had taken money from the company for months, and the thought of it still weighed heavily on him.

After a long pause, Grandpa finally answered.

"Hello."

"Dad..." Victor's voice came through the phone. It sounded weak and broken.

Grandpa didn't respond.

"I'm sorry," Victor said, his voice trembling. "I'm really sorry. I know I've disappointed you."

Grandpa closed his eyes for a moment.

He had expected Victor to call, but hearing the sadness in his son's voice still affected him.

"Do you know how disappointed I am in you?" Grandpa finally asked.

Victor became silent.

"I trusted you," Grandpa continued. "You are my son.

I gave you a position in this family and trusted you with the company, and this is what you did with that trust."

"I'm sorry, Dad," Victor said again. "I know I made a mistake."

"A mistake?" Grandpa's voice became heavier.

"Victor, this wasn't just a mistake. You kept taking money from the company for almost a year.

You knew what you were doing."

"And I also heard that you've been hiding," Grandpa said.

"Dad I'm ashamed of myself," Victor admitted. "I didn't know how to face you or Lucian."

Grandpa let out a sigh.

"Dad So... what am I supposed to do now?"

"I already told you to come back," Grandpa replied. "And don't bother going to the company. Your name has been removed from the shareholders' list."

Victor froze.

"Dad... how could you do this to me? I'm your son."

Grandpa's eyes became cold.

"And because you're my son, I expected better from you."

There was silence between them.

"Dad..."

"You are not going back to the company for now. Come home. We'll deal with everything from there."

Victor's voice broke.

"Please, Dad..."

Grandpa took a deep breath.

Then he ended the call.

When Lucian's driver arrived at Selena's house, he had to wait for her to get ready.

"Be fast, so your Prince Charming won't have to wait too long," Mia urged her.

Selena rolled her eyes.

She finally got ready and walked outside.

Surprisingly, the driver didn't say anything, and she got into the car.

She stayed quiet throughout the drive, still trying to process what was about to happen.

When they arrived, they went inside and completed the necessary registration process. After signing the documents, they were officially married.

When Selena walked out of the building, she looked down at the marriage certificate in her hand.

She quickly hid it against her body, as if someone might see it.

She still couldn't believe it.

She was married.

And not just to anyone.

She was married to Lucian.

She took a deep breath, still unable to believe that her life had changed so suddenly.

Lucian glanced at her.

"what?" He asked

"I'm just thinking," Selena replied.

"About what?"

She looked at him. "About the fact that I'm actually married now."

Lucian's lips curved slightly.

"You'll get used to it."

Selena rolled her eyes. "Easy for you to say."

When they arrived at her house, Lucian stopped the car.

Selena reached for the door, but before she could get out, Lucian spoke.

"Selena."

She turned to him.

"Don't forget what we agreed on."
