Chapter 24 - chapter 24 _ come here

He went to the balcony to relax.

That evening, Mike came to Selena's house.

Selena already knew he was coming because he had told her earlier that he would.

When she opened the door and saw him standing there, she was quiet for a moment.

"You're here."

"Yeah."

Mike looked at her for a few seconds before speaking.

"Can I talk to you for a little while?"

Selena nodded and stepped outside, closing the door behind her.

They stood outside for a moment without saying anything.

Mike looked at her.

"You've changed."

Selena raised an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know. You just seem different from before."

Selena didn't answer.

Mike looked away and took a deep breath.

"I've actually been thinking about you a lot lately."

Selena looked at him.

"Why?"

"I don't know. Maybe because I realized that I made a mistake."

Selena's expression became serious.

She didn't know what to say at that moment .

"I know things didn't end well between us, and I know I can't just come here and expect everything to go back to the way it was."

He paused for a moment.

"But I still want to try."

Selena stared at him.

"Try what?"

"Us again."

Selena was quiet for a few seconds.

"Mike..."

"I still have feelings for you," he said.

"And if you give me another chance, I'll do things differently this time."

Selena looked at him, not knowing what to say at first.

She had once cared about him, but things were different now.

"I'm sorry, Mike. I can't."

He looked at her.

"Is it because of someone else?"

Selena didn't answer immediately.

"I just don't feel the same way anymore."

Mike lowered his eyes.

"So there's really nothing I can do?"

Selena shook her head.

"I don't think so."

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Mike gave a small nod.

"Okay. I understand."

He took a step back.

"I guess I should go."

Selena nodded.

"Take care."

"You too."

Mike turned and walked away.

Selena watched him for a moment before going back inside.

When she opened the door, Mia was standing there.

Mia looked at her.

"Was that Mike?"

Selena sighed.

"Yeah."

"What did he want?"

Selena closed the door.

"He wanted us to get back together."

Mia's eyes widened.

"And what did you say?"

"I said no." Selena replied

"Good," Mia said.

Selena let out a small laugh.

For the next few days, everything seemed fine.

Then one day, Lucian was driving without his bodyguard.

As he was driving, a woman suddenly rushed into the road.

Lucian didn't see her coming, so he couldn't press the brake early enough.

He hit her.

Lucian quickly stopped the car and got out.

He rushed over to her and found that she was still breathing.

When he looked at her face, he was shocked.

It was Ariana.

But he didn't have time to think about it.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Ah, I think I broke my leg. Take me to the hospital," she replied.

Ariana looked up at him and smiled.

He helped her into the car and drove her to the hospital.

He stood outside the room, waiting.

After a while, he got a call from Selena.

"Are you not going to come? The meeting is going to start in two hours."

"Postpone the meeting. I won't be able to attend," he told her.

"Why?" Selena asked.

"I'll tell you when I get back."

"Okay."

They ended the call.

A few minutes later, the doctor came out.

"She's fine. She just needs to rest. She'll be all right," the doctor said.

Lucian nodded.

He went inside and saw Ariana sitting up on the bed.

He stood beside the door and looked at her.

"What are you doing in the country? I thought you weren't going to come back?"

Ariana looked at him.

"Do I have to tell you whenever I want to come back?" she said, pretending to be weak.

Lucian frowned.

"How are you?" he asked.

"Why do you care?" she replied.

Lucian let out a small laugh.

"I don't. I just want to make sure you're all right so I can go because I have other important things to do."

Ariana was angry because of what he said, but she couldn't do anything about it.

"It seems like you're fine, so I'll go pay the bill. Then you can go whenever you want," he said before turning to leave.

"Wait."

Lucian stopped in his tracks, but he didn't turn around.

"Thank you," Ariana said.

He expected her to say something like that, but he didn't care.

Lucian walked away without answering her.

After Lucian left, Ariana's expression immediately changed.

She stopped pretending to be weak.

"Why is he still so cold after all these years?"

She angrily pulled the drip away from her hand and threw it aside.

Everything had gone according to her plan, except for one thing.

A nurse walked in and was shocked when she saw her.

"Ma'am, you can't remove that yourself!" she said as she rushed toward her.

Ariana pushed her away.

"Mind your business," she said before getting out of bed.

She went to change her clothes and left the hospital.

As Lucian drove, he couldn't stop thinking about what had happened.

Why was Ariana back in the country?

"Is this some kind of trick she's trying to pull?" he thought.

When he arrived at the company, his face looked serious.

He looked angry, and nobody even tried to talk to him.

He went straight into his office and called for Selena.

A few minutes later, Selena came in.

"About the meeting... I canceled it like you said. We'll hold it tomorrow at 9 a.m."

"Stop," Lucian said.

Selena looked at him properly.

His eyes were steady, and his jaw was tight, like he had been holding something back for too long.

"What did I say wrong this time?" she thought to herself.

Lucian looked at her for a moment before speaking.

"Come here."
