Just then, Lucian came back.
When the old lady saw him, her expression changed.
"Grandmother," Lucian greeted.
"Oh, my boy! You still haven't changed," she said with a smile. "I heard you were around, so I came to see you. But I only saw your new assistant. I didn't know she was this beautiful."
She teased him.
Lucian just smiled.
"So, what brought you here? You haven't come around in ages," the old lady said.
"I came here for business. I won't be staying long," he replied.
"Fine, but come and visit me before you leave, okay?"
Lucian smiled and nodded.
"All right."
"Then I'll leave you two alone," the old lady said before walking away.
"Who is she?" Selena asked.
Lucian sat down.
"She's a family friend."
"And what did she say to you?" Lucian asked.
"Nothing. She just asked me who brought me here."
"I see," Lucian replied shortly.
Just then, a man approached them. Selena noticed that he wasn't old. He looked to be around the same age as her father.
"Mr. Marcus," Lucian greeted.
"Lucian," Mr. Marcus replied. "Come with me. Let's talk somewhere private."
Lucian turned to Selena.
"Come on."
They followed Mr. Marcus to a private room.
As soon as they entered, Mr. Marcus looked at Selena.
"So, who is the girl?" he asked.
"She's my assistant," Lucian replied.
"Oh, I see."
Mr. Marcus nodded.
"Now, let's talk about business."
Lucian turned to Selena.
"Go sit over there."
There was a chair at the end of the room, so Selena quietly went and sat down.
"Now, Mr. Marcus, you should know why I came here," Lucian said.
"Of course I know," Mr. Marcus replied. "You know I don't do business with an unserious person, and your uncle has proven himself to be one. I'm only reconsidering keeping the project because you're the one who is going to take over, and I trust you."
"So, I'll take care of the rest?" Lucian said.
Mr. Marcus smiled.
"You're just like your father. Never scared, and I like it."
He stretched out his hand, and Lucian shook it.
"I hope this collaboration succeeds," Mr. Marcus said.
"It will," Lucian confidently assured him.
"All right, Mr. Marcus. I think I'll take my leave," Lucian said.
Lucian turned and walked back to where Selena was sitting.
"Let's go," he told her.
They both walked back into the gathering.
The event wasn't over yet, so they sat down for a while. Some investors came over to greet Lucian, and a few of them offered him drinks.
At first, Lucian only took a small drink, but as more people came over, he was offered more.
Selena noticed that he was becoming quieter as time passed. She didn't say anything, but she kept watching him.
Eventually, Lucian stood up.
"Are you leaving already?" one of the investors asked.
"Yes," he replied.
Selena also stood up, and they both left.
When they got into the car, Selena looked at Lucian. He leaned his head back against the seat, looking tired.
"Are you all right?" she asked.
"I'm fine. I just need to rest," he replied.
Selena wasn't completely convinced, but she didn't want to bother him.
When they arrived at the hotel, Lucian didn't allow Selena to help him inside. He managed to walk into the room by himself.
He went into the bathroom to take a shower and changed into something comfortable.
Selena did the same.
When she was about to get into bed, she felt a little nervous, but she was relieved that Lucian had gone to bed early.
She got into bed, turned off the light, and the room went completely dark.
Selena lay at the edge of the bed, trying to fall asleep.
Lucian shifted in his sleep and slowly moved closer to her. Selena noticed the movement immediately and became a little nervous.
Suddenly he started kissing her neck gently and down to her shoulder. Selena frozen for a moment, completely caught off guard by what he was doing.
Then she tried to push him away, but he pined her hand down then slowly kissed her lip. She bit her lip trying not to moan, but his tongue swept across her lower lip .
"Lucian" she gasped,his kiss was raw and intense, sending a wave of heat through her body. Then he stopped.
"Lucian..." Selena called softly.
She looked at him and realized that he was already asleep.
She quickly helped him lie properly on the bed before walking into the bathroom.
When she looked at herself in the mirror, she noticed that her face was bright red. She splashed some cool water on her face and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
Selena went back to bed, but she couldn't sleep. She kept worrying that Lucian might do something while she was asleep.
The next morning, Lucian woke up and noticed Selena lying beside him.
"Ahh..." He rubbed his forehead as a headache hit him.
He tried to remember what had happened the night before, but he couldn't remember much.
After taking a shower, he came back into the room and noticed that Selena was already awake.
Selena felt embarrassed to look at him.
"Good morning," she said quietly.
"Morning," Lucian replied.
When Selena finally raised her head, Lucian noticed the dark circles under her eyes.
"Didn't you sleep last night?" he asked.
"Why are you asking?" Selena replied.
She wondered to herself, Was it that obvious?
Then she realized something.
Lucian didn't seem to remember what had happened the night before.
Did he really drink that much? she wondered.
She quietly sighed in relief.
Great. At least I won't have to be embarrassed.
Selena quickly rushed into the bathroom.
Lucian looked at her in confusion.
"Why is she running?" he muttered.
Just then, his phone rang.
"Sir, the meeting will be held at 10, according to your instructions," the person on the other end said.
"Good. Have you informed my uncle about it?" Lucian asked.
"No, sir."
"Go do it, and tell him he can't miss it," Lucian instructed.
"Yes, sir."
Lucian ended the call.
Just then, Selena came out of the bathroom.
