Chapter 11 - chapter 11_ business trip

"Did you not see what she did? She ruined my dress! That dress cost thousands of dollars!" Daisy complained.

"But she clearly apologized," Lucian said.

"Wait, why are you defending her?" Daisy asked.

Lucian was already angry. "Get out."

"What?" Daisy asked in surprise.

Lucian had never raised his voice at her or spoken to her that way before.

"I won't repeat myself," he said firmly.

Daisy stomped her foot before turning around and leaving angrily.

Lucian took a deep breath before heading toward Selena's office. When he got there, he saw Selena coming out of the bathroom.

The moment Selena saw him, she lowered her head. She thought he had come to scold her, so she immediately started apologizing.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for any of this to happen."

Lucian walked toward her and gently lifted her chin. When he saw the mark on her face, his expression changed.

Lucian was angry when he saw the mark on her face.

He gently placed his palm against her cheek.

"Does it still hurt?" he asked.

Selena was shocked by his actions. She had expected him to come and yell at her.

"I'm fine," she said, removing his hand.

Lucian looked at her for a moment. He had never acted this way toward anyone in years. It reminded him of how he had once cared for his first love.

"Would you like to have dinner with me?" he asked.

"No," Selena replied. She wasn't in the mood to have dinner with him.

"All right," he replied before leaving.

When the workday was over, Selena was about to leave when Lucian came out of his office.

"Let me drop you off," Lucian said.

Selena hesitated. She was worried that some of the other employees might still be around and see them leaving together.

Lucian understood what she was worried about.

"Don't worry. We'll use the back door."

Selena nodded.

They both went through the back door, got into the car, and drove away.

Neither of them said much during the drive.

When they arrived at Selena's house, she was about to open the door when Lucian gently held her hand.

"Are you still angry?" he asked.

He could still see the mark on her face.

"Why would I be angry? I was the one who made the mistake," Selena replied.

She got out of the car.

Lucian remained in the driver's seat and rubbed his forehead as he watched her walk inside.

When Selena entered the house, she saw Mia watching TV.

Mia turned around, and her eyes immediately lit up.

"You're back!" she exclaimed as she rushed toward her.

"Yeah," Selena replied.

Just then, Mia noticed the mark on Selena's face.

"Selena, what happened to you? Who hit you?" she asked worriedly.

"Mia, it's nothing," Selena said, trying to walk past her.

Mia stopped her.

"Tell me. Was it Lucian?"

"No, no! It wasn't him," Selena quickly replied.

"Then who was it?" Mia asked again.

Selena sighed and finally explained everything.

"Oh my God! What is wrong with rich people?" Mia exclaimed. "Just because she has power doesn't give her the right to treat you that way."

Mia immediately went to get some ice for Selena's face.

"Go freshen up, and I'll set the table," Mia said.

Selena nodded and left.

By the time she came back, they began eating. Mia wanted to say something, but she decided against it. She could tell Selena wasn't in the mood to talk.

After they finished eating, Mia cleared the table while Selena went to bed. It had been a really rough day for her.

Just as Selena was about to fall asleep, her phone started ringing. She looked at the screen and saw that Lucian was calling.

She put the phone back down. She didn't feel like talking to anyone right now.

A few minutes later, Mia entered the room and noticed Selena's phone was still ringing. Selena was already asleep, so Mia decided to answer it.

"Hello?"

Lucian immediately knew it wasn't Selena's voice.

"Give the phone to Selena," he said.

"She's sleeping," Mia replied.

"Okay," Lucian said before ending the call.

On the other side, Lucian felt guilty. He couldn't stop thinking about what had happened earlier and wished he had acted faster.

He picked up his phone and called Elias, instructing him to take care of something.

The next morning, when Selena arrived at the office, Lucian was already there.

She entered his office and saw him sitting in his chair, reading a book.

When Lucian noticed her, he stood up and walked toward her.

"How are you?" he asked, placing a hand gently on her shoulder.

"I'm fine," Selena replied with a small smile.

She felt a little uncomfortable with the way he was holding her, but she didn't say anything.

Lucian gently brushed her hair away from her face to check the mark.

It was no longer visible.

"Lucian, I'm fine. You don't have to worry," Selena assured him.

He let out a sigh of relief.

"I'm going on a business trip tomorrow, and you're coming with me," Lucian said.

"A business trip?" Selena asked, taken aback.

"But I haven't booked a ticket," she said worriedly.

Lucian smiled when he saw the worried look on her face.

"Don't worry. We're taking a private plane."

Selena's jaw dropped.

Then she remembered exactly who Lucian was.

Lucian smiled at her reaction before returning to his desk.

"Go get me my coffee."

Selena quickly went to make his coffee. When she returned, she placed it on his desk.

"So don't be late tomorrow," Lucian reminded her.

"Okay," Selena replied before leaving his office.

Meanwhile, at the set, Daisy was furious.

"How could that happen?" she complained.

"Daisy, someone else has already been given the role," the director said.

"But, sir, you told me that role belonged to me," Daisy argued.

"I changed my mind. I gave it to someone more suitable," the director replied before walking away.

Daisy stood there, burning with anger, but there was nothing she could do.

That evening, when Lucian returned home from the office, he told his family about the business trip.

After he left the room, his mother looked at the others.

"Lucian has been smiling a lot lately," she said.

"Has he closed a big deal recently?" Grandma asked.

"I don't think so," Miss Rosalie replied.

"He doesn't even smile when he closes a deal," Grandpa added.

The next morning, Lucian was about to leave when his mother stopped him.
