Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 — The Last Beastbinder

Legends spoke of a time when the world was not ruled by men, but by creatures of fang, scale, and wing. They roamed beneath twin moons, their cries shaking the mountains and their shadows dimming the sun. Mankind survived only by pact and prayer — until one rose who could speak to them all. They called her Aelara the Beastbinder — the first and only mortal to forge bonds with the Great Spirits of Cindervall. With her voice, she stilled storms. With her heart, she tamed dragons. Her companions — a silver wolf, a raven of shadow, and a stag made of moonlight — followed her across the ages of war. When the War of Scales raged between men and dragons, Aelara united beast and mortal to end it. Yet power such as hers could not exist without cost. The final battle at the Verdant Spire consumed her, sealing both her and her bonded beasts into myth. The Beastbinder's art was said to have perished with her — until the forests began to whisper once more.
