"This will have to do," Emily mumbled as she placed the finishing touches on her main dish, a seared steak with mashed potatoes and some greens.
Definitely not a gourmet chef, but she had been cooking since she could remember. It might not be the same as what her husband was used to, but she believed it was still good enough to eat.
"Let's see. I think this should go here." Replicating the first dinner Nolan had prepared for her, she set the table for two. Then, she placed a posy of white roses as the centerpiece before adding a candle in the middle of the bunch.
"You're doing this to thank him." Emily hastily removed the candle, reminding herself that she had invited him to dinner because she owed him for helping her brother.
