Bakugo and Ayame returned to her father's Ichiraku shop. The Yondaime and Teuchi were there, talking casually. Seeing the pair of children enter, they interrupted their conversation and focused their attention on Bakugo's bloody and swollen face.
"What happened?" Minato asked with some concern.
"The idiot got into a fight with four bullies," Ayame said, slapping the little blond boy on the shoulder.
"Ow! Damn brat!" Bakugo exclaimed, frowning. "And didn't you just say earlier that it was the most heroic thing you'd ever seen?"
"And it was. But you could have been killed!" Ayame said, annoyed by the boy's foolishness. "Can you take Bakugo to the hospital, Yondaime?"
"Tsk. No need to do that, man. This will heal itself," Bakugo muttered.
"Ayame is right. It's better to be safe than sorry. Come here, Bakugo," Minato said, gesturing for him to come closer. Bakugo reluctantly approached the Hokage. "I'll bring my son here tomorrow, Teuchi. See you later, Ayame."
"See you later, Yondaime. And you, little one!" Teuchi said, pointing at Bakugo with his index finger. "When you get back, I'll make the spiciest dish you've ever tasted."
—Ha. I'd like to see that, Bakugo challenged.
"Bakugo!" Ayame said nervously. "When you're bored, come see me and we'll play together. If you want, of course. Hehe," the girl finished with a nervous laugh.
—Hmm, I'll think about it. You're not as annoying as a lot of other kids, Bakugo said.
Ayame smiled at his response and waved goodbye. Minato grabbed Bakugo, and a second later, they were both in the hospital chief's office.
"You have to tell me how the hell you do that, man," Bakugo said, intrigued.
"It's complicated. But to summarize, it's a space-time jutsu that requires a special seal. I have them placed in various locations around the village. One of them is in this office," Minato concluded.
"You were right when you said it was complicated, man," Bakugo said, not understanding a word of what the Hokage just said.
"Hehe," Minato said, scratching his head. "When you're a little older, I'll explain it again if you're still interested."
They then went to find a doctor. After tests, they determined there were no internal injuries, but a cut needed stitches to stop the bleeding. They also bandaged him and applied ointment to reduce the swelling on his face.
"In a couple of days you'll be as good as new, Bakugo," a nurse said with a smile.
"What's going on?" Minato exclaimed.
"Ein?" He raised an eyebrow, not understanding.
"Thank you, it's thank you," Minato said, shaking his head. "Tell the nurse thank you."
"Bullshit. That word isn't in my vocabulary," Bakugo replied. Once again, a giant drop formed on Minato's head. The nurse left, saying goodbye to the Hokage.
—Hehe. I hope that changes over time. —Minato said with a sigh. —Mmmm, Bakugo... —
"What's up now, man?" Bakugo complained.
"I'm never good at bringing up such delicate subjects. So I'll get straight to the point. Do you want to live with me and my son?" Minato asked very seriously.
"Ein? What's this about?" Bakugo said, perplexed.
—Well, you shouldn't be alone at your age, so I thought it would be best to... —Minato didn't finish his sentence as he was interrupted by the little one.
—Don't even bother finishing, man. The answer is no, Bakugo said.
—But...—said Minato.
"Look, man. You're not a bad guy. But I already have a father, and I don't need another. Even if he's not in this world, I still have one," Bakugo said, nonchalantly scratching his arm.
Minato, believing that he meant that he was not in this world because he was dead and not that he was actually in another world, was saddened by the boy's words.
"I respect that you don't want to replace your father. But Bakugo, I can't allow you to live alone. You're only 5 years old, and you need someone to take care of you," Minato explained.
"I can take care of myself," Bakugo said, offended that someone would think he couldn't live on his own.
"I can't force you to live with me, but you won't live alone," Minato said, looking at him harshly.
"Tsk. You're so annoying, man! I heard the kid in the next bed lives in an orphanage. I'm willing to live there if it stops bothering me," Bakugo exclaimed.
"I won't be here for long anyway. They've probably already found the bastard in black and are forcing him to undo his power," Bakugo thought.
"Perfect," the Hokage said, his smile returning. "I'm off to get the paperwork for your new home."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, annoying. Go away and let me sleep," Bakugo complained.
Until the Hokage resolved the bureaucratic issues surrounding the blond boy's registration at the Konoha orphanage, Bakugo spent his time wandering around the hospital on the Yondaime's orders. A few hours later, Minato reappeared and took Bakugo to see his new home. Once at the orphanage, two elderly men went to meet the blond couple.
"Okay, Bakugo. This is Matson and Trakala. They'll take care of you until you can stand on your own. If you need anything, don't hesitate to come see me," Minato said.
"Whatever you say. Go to work already, man," Bakugo said, waving Minato halfheartedly.
"Hehe. It's true that I've put village matters aside for a bit. But it's just so boring," Minato complained, looking at the ground with tears in his eyes.
"I knew you used me as an excuse to get out of it, man," Bakugo said, crossing his arms.
—See you soon, Bakugo. —A moment later, there was only smoke in the position where Minato was standing.
After the Fourth Hokage left, Bakugo spent a few days getting acquainted with his new home. There were hundreds of children who, due to the Third War or the Kyubi attack, had been orphaned. To Bakugo, they were all useless extras, like Deku had been until All Might gave him his power, so he didn't even bother learning their names.
Bored by the lack of things to distract him, he decided to go out and explore the village. It seemed strange to him that this world still had things from the Middle Ages, like weapons. But there was also technology, albeit limited, from the 20th century. What caught his attention most during his walk was seeing a boy wearing a fox mask and carrying a katana sitting near a river.
"Hey, masks!" Bakugo shouted. The boy turned to see who was calling him. "That's not a toy on your back, kid."
"It's you..." the masked stranger whispered.
"Do I know you, masks?" Bakugo asked.
"Not you. But I do. I was the one who found you in the forest and brought you to the hospital after returning from my first mission as an ANBU member," the stranger explained.
The stranger in the fox mask removed his mask, revealing the face of a dark-circled boy about twelve years old with black hair that hung close to his cheeks to frame his face and a long ponytail at the back of his hair.
—Wait a minute, haggard! From what I've read, ANBU are the village's elite shinobi. And you're a fucking kid! —Bakugo asked incredulously.
"I'm not a kid. I'm 11," the stranger said tersely. "And I'm a kid. What are you?"
"Definitely not a jerk like you, haggard!" Bakugo yelled angrily. The way he spoke reminded him of the bastard Half-and-Half, and that infuriated him even more.
The ANBU ignored the insult and got up from the ground.
"What's your name, kiddo?" the ANBU member asked, approaching Bakugo.
—Katsuki Bakugo. And you, dark-circled? —Bakugo asked back.
"Itachi Uchiha," the ANBU replied.
