For a moment, it was peaceful, the chatter of other students fading into the background, the sunlight falling in soft golden stripes across the table.
Then a tray slammed onto their table. Derek stood over them, grin sharp as ever.
"Look at this," he said. "The new kids already made friends. How touching."
Logan didn't even look up. "You lost, or just this nosy?"
The table went quiet. Derek's grin faltered for half a second, then returned. "Careful, new guy. Sarcasm doesn't make you popular."
Tyler stepped in, tone firm. "Derek, leave them alone."
Derek shrugged. "I'm just talking. You don't own the cafeteria, Tyler."
Susan's eyes dimmed slightly, but her tone stayed gentle. "Hey, can someone swat this fly away?, yeah? We're trying to eat. It's annoying"
Derek's jaw twitched. For a moment, it looked like he'd say something else, but Logan's chilling gaze lock on him, sending chills down his spine,he stiffened then hesitated for a second, glanced and Alex who wasn't even staring at him and he backed off with a scoff. "Enjoy your welcome party while it lasts," he muttered, walking away.
"What a weak threat" Leon scoffed
Jason let out a breath. "Wow. He's charming."
Caleb snickered. "He's gonna hate us by Friday."
Ethan smirked faintly. "He already does."
Susana leaned on her palm. "Then we'll make sure to give him more reasons."
Luna smiled coldly. "I like the sound of that. Should I clean him up?"
She asked nonchalantly which actually sent shivers down ones whole body ah especially Tyler and Alex.
'What the hell, she didn't mean that does she?' Tyler turn to Alex and kind of saw the same question and horror in his eyes.
'i can't afford to be their enemy ' Tyler thought
' are they some underworld kids?' Alex thought.
"Scratch that off your mind, are you insane?" Ethan stared at he indifferently but beneath the gaze was a warning and Luna just rolled her eyes and continued eating...
The bell for afternoon classes rang with a heavy clang that made half the cafeteria groan. Students shuffled out, balancing trays and laughter, while the new transfers followed Tyler and Alex toward their next class.
Tyler, Alex, and Caleb walked together in the front discussing something that looks interesting, Luna and Susana followed behind sometimes chipping in some side remark, Ethan and Jason followed not so silent behind because Jason as usual is stressing the life out if Ethan with his arm around his neck pulling them closer than necessary. While Logan and Leon followed last, straight and poised discussing something that looks suspiciously serious.
"Did you feel it also?" Leon asked glancing at Logan who has a hand in his pocket and the other one fiddling with a pebble.(Don't ask where it came from cuz I also don't know)
" A precious gem or an ancient artifact. Either of them" Logan replied like it wasn't a big deal
"Sigh. Now I'm curious" Leon murmured
"We'll do that later...not now" Logan said tossing himma side glance and quickened his steps catching up with the rest.
The hallway buzzed with voices, lockers slamming, sneakers squeaking across polished floors. Sunlight spilled in through the windows, falling across faces and half-open books.
Tyler walked just behind Leon, watching as the light hit him at odd moments,the way it caught in his hair, outlining it in a faint golden halo. It wasn't on purpose; he wasn't trying to stare. It just… happened.
"What subject is having capital letters CHM?" Leon's voice drew him back to reality only to realize he is now staring at him full attention.
"Ahem... that's chemistry, we would be taking that in the lab" he replied awkwardly trying not to look at him as a faint suspicious blush flushed his cheeks. Leon stared at him weirdly before nodding then look away making Tyler breathe out the air he didn't realize he was holding but then he felt a strange sense of disappointment but quickly brushed it away 'what the hell is wrong with you Tyler. This is just the first day of seeing HIM!! Ahhhhhh!!' he mentally scolded himself not daring to look at Leon again
