Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

The rest of the day went well, almost boring even, Jason yawned flipping through history textbook absentmindedly, Caleb sketching something (I don't know) on the desk. Everyone looking tired and frustrated, they just want to leave the place.

The bell rang.

A sound so simple, yet so startlingly mortal, that half the immortals flinched. Well except the ever compose Logan and Leon

The last class of the day faded into chatter and shuffling feet. Students poured into the corridors, laughing, calling, tossing papers, life brimming with carelessness.

The seven of them lingered a moment longer.

"Humans are… loud," Ethan muttered, rubbing his temple. His sharp jaw was tense, his tone half-disgust, half-awe.

Susana grinned. "They're alive," she said, slinging her bag over her shoulder like she'd been doing it her whole life. "You should try it sometime."

Ethan let out a dry laugh. "And risk lowering myself to their level? Pass."

"Because you handled that history quiz like a divine scholar," she shot back.

He glared. "It asked me what year the Cold War ended. How am I supposed to know that? I slept through three centuries of ice ages!"

Caleb, ever the composed one, gave them a weary look. "Enough. We must maintain our image."

Luna smirked. "Of what? Exchange students of Northview Academy?"

He didn't reply, but the corners of his mouth twitched.

Outside, the afternoon sun was gentle,a golden wash over the school courtyard. They stood together, an oddly perfect formation amidst the chaos of teenagers.

Some students whispered.

Some stared.

Some avoided them entirely.

They were too beautiful, too graceful, too still...like art misplaced among motion.

"Hey" they heard a familiar voice prompting therm to turn back, only to see Tyler and Alex jogging towards them looking slightly out of breath

"Why are you sweating?" Jason asked curious as he passed him a small white handkerchief which Tyler collected gracefully

"I thought I would miss you guys, you didn't wait for us" he complained pouting a little before smiling

"Ohhhh...we forgot" Caleb said chuckling awkwardly

" Oh my gosh, that hurts a lot" Alex clutched his chest dramatically pretending to fall only to straighten again

"How could you forget this handsome beta and most beautiful omega?" He asked looking so dramatically tragic

"Huh? Beta? Omega? What's that?" Leon asked confused

"You don't know them?" Alex asked looking at him like he just grew horns before going on and on about the ABO world. Well, Jason and Susana involved him that's why.

A car, sleek and black, drove and park in front of them. Shen Rui'an, their reluctant instructor and current driver , leaned on the hood with his arms crossed.

"Survived your first day?" he asked.

"Barely," Leon muttered.

"Remarkably," Luna said at the same time.

"Depends on your definition of survive," Ethan added darkly.

"It was perfect and we made new friends, Alex and Tyler" Jason said introducing the two boys standing by gracefully

"Hi, I'm Tyler" Tyler said with a small smile

"The world wide handsome, Alex" Alex said with a dramatic now almost tripping himself which earned him a laugh from Shen Rui'an and chuckles from the group

"He is... well dramatic" Tyler said embarrassed rubbing the top of his nose

"I can see that and I like that" Shen Rui'an said with his usual warm and kind smile

"Let's get going" Logan said opening the passenger door and climbed in

" Thanks for today's help" he said staring straight at Tyler who nodded feeling naked Infront of the overbearing gaze

"You're welcomed, see you guys tomorrow" he said with a smile before glancing briefly at Leon who was also staring at him, he immediately blushed looking away flustered and his friend Alex smiled knowingly.

They climbed into the car, doors shutting in sync like a ritual.

Their car driving away.
