Zane looked up at the moon in the sky, releasing the breath he was holding. He gave it his all, yet he couldn't beat Ryoken.
And this wasn't even Ryoken's main deck. It was a deck he planned to gift to him, which zane refused. Was the gap between their talents that much?
"That was a nice duel. Been a long time since we had a duel like that." Ryoken stood in front of him, his hand held out.
Zane shook it and smiled back "Indeed. It seems you have grown even more, while I was wasting my time here."
"you're being too harsh on yourself. Do you know anyone that has defeated me in a duel? no. so it isn't weird to lose to me."
Somehow the way that Ryoken put it made Zane feel as if he was rubbing salt on his wound, making him chuckle.
Yep, that was exactly how he expected how a duel with him would go.
"Now since you lost I hope you honour our promise." Ryoken held the deck which contained all of the Cyberdark cards in front of Zane.
Zane sighed and accepted the deck, putting it in his pocket. "I'll put it to good use. Next time we duel I'll try to give you a better challenge. Oh by the way, whilst you were away, I was contacted by Professor Akaba, telling me to inform you that he wants to meet with you."
Ryoken raised a brow at that. He was finally getting the chance to meet the villain of Arc-V, the one who will start the whole dimensional war.
As much as he hated the guy, he respected his focus and commitment to his goal. He lost his daughter and promised to himself to bring her back.
Ruined many people's life, destroyed many families, didn't even care as his own students and people were sacrificed during the war he started. Heck he didn't even care about the four counterparts of his daughter, using them as a fuel alongside other people who turned into cards to bring his daughter back.
Instead of doing all this stuff he could have simply looked after Serena, the fusion counterpart of his daughter like a true father. But no he also used her too.
"Nothing serious to be worried about." Zane reassured Ryoken, mistaking his lack of answer as concern and worry "It must be because of the dorm."
"Thanks. I'll give him a visit tomorrow. For now I just need a bit of sleep." He said while yawning.
"You already have the room's key, so go and sleep. I'll be up a bit to add the Cyberdark cards to my Cyber Dragon deck."
Ryoken bid farewell to Zane, leaving him alone to work on his new deck, while he went to the room and decided to sleep on the couch.
It wasn't because this was Zane's room and he didn't feel comfortable sleeping on Zane's bed, rather he had developed a habit from jis previous life. Sleeping on a couch always felt better than bed for some reason.
As he lay down on the couch and went through the memories of what happened today, he couldn't help but laugh.
A new spirit, Duel with the Supreme King himself, Medea's new form, becoming a vessel of the Supreme King and lastly the duel with Zane.
"Not bad progress for a single day huh?" He spoke to no one particularly. As time passed slowly the tiredness washed over him, putting him into a deep sleep.
------------------------------------------
Whilst Ryoken drifted to sleep, life was going differently for a certain bald professor.
As late as it was, Leo Akaba was sitting in his office, his gaze looming over a document that he held.
This boy he saw today, there was no information about him. No parents, no relatives. Nothing to track his origins.
He had access to information on every student in the academia, yet he didn't have a Single clue on where this boy had come from.
An abnormality in his plans, one that if proved to be a hindrance, will be removed asap without a second thought.
Well either that or he would have to ask Doktor to brainwash him to make him a loyal soldier.
Putting the document away, he stood up and looked at the photo of himself with his daughter Ray, a sad smile appearing on his lip as he was reminded of old memories.
"Ray... no matter the cost, I'll bring you back." He then walked towards the bookshelf near his desk, pulling a book out halfway.
The bookshelf trembled before moving away, showing a hidden path. A path that went down, seemingly having no end.
He began to descend through the stairs and go deeper. After a few minutes or so, he finally stopped as he reached the end of the stairs, now standing in front of an iron gate.
Pulling out a card and holding it Infront of the detection device, the device made a beep sound as it recognised the card and opened the door automatically for him.
As he stepped inside, he was met with the sight of an enormous laboratory. Every corner was filled with vials, medici, livestock for experiments and a lot more.
"Professor, the test subjects of the Quattro project have fully integrated with their new memories. They are ready to be dispatched by your order."
"Is that so... and how loyal they are, Doktor?" Akaba asked the man who had come out of dark, wearing a white rob.
The Doktor was a tall and thin old man with fair skin, sunken eyes and cheeks, bags under his eyes, small green pupils, and long white hair.
If Ryoken had seen him now, he would have said that Doktor is a Walmart version of Rec Goodwin, the villain in the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh 5ds.
"For their loyalty... I can't assure it. I made sure they have enough hatred for Zarc or anyone that looks similar to it that they would prioritise killing him over anything else. But if you want, I can implant one of my Parasites in their mind. Though they are in the test stage so they might do more harm than good."
Akaba thought about it for a moment before dismissing the idea "For now there's no need to do it. Show me the test subjects."
The Doktor grinned maniacally, happy to show his work to Akaba "Please follow me."
As they ventured deeper into the laboratory, they reached 4 large tubes, each standing tall and connected from the floor to the roof.
Each tube was filled with a green coloured liquid, bubbles bubbling up inside it as the subjects inside them breathed through a mask connected to their faces.
"First subject, Code name Red-eyes. A young boy we took from the standard dimension. We made fake memories for him of a world in which only fusion summoning exists, and he is part of a group, led by a boy named Yugi Moto. I made sure to fabricate the memories so much that he developed a deep bond with the said boy. I also made Zarc appear in his world and kill his friends In front of him. Of course just in case he would look for that Yugi guy which doesn't exist, we censored his face so he doesn't remember him."
Akaba looked at the boy with blonde hair who was inside the first tube.
[Subject Joy wheeler, Code name Red-eyes.]
His attention then was diverted to the second tube, a boy with blue hair.
[Subject Jesse Anderson, Code name Crystal.]
"For This one, I took him from the fusion dimension, our own dimension and made him best friends with a boy named Jaden Yuki. Similar to what happened to the test subject Red-eyes, He also lost everyone to Zarc."
The Doktor then continued "As for the third and forth subjects, they are even more interesting as it seems they have high psychic powers."
The third Subject was a girl with crimson hair, her beauty standing out even while she was trapped inside this tube.
[Subject Akiza Izinski, Code name Black Rose.]
"Took her from the Synchro dimension. Like the previous ones, she has a deep bond with the protagonist I made in their memories. Yusei Fudo, a boy that makes miracles. I wish he was real so I could experiment on him. She also doesn't remember the name and their faces so we can rest assured."
"Last but not least, the strongest subject we have. From Xyz dimension. I'd say if we can brainwash him completely he would be our best loyal dog."
The said boy had purple hair with a face that appeared fierce, ready to brawl and fight.
[Subject Reginald Castle, Code name Shark.]
"For this one he is the main rival of that world's protagonist that i made, Yuma Tsukumo. A boy that has little to none brain but is guided by a spirit named astral. As you know by now, he also lost his world and friends to Zarc. That's all professor."
Doktor stood still and looked impatiently at Akaba like a child waiting for a praise from their teacher. Disregarding the fact that he had kidnapped four innocent people, teens at that and made fabricated memories for them.
"Well done. I truly am impressed. Hopefully they are as good as you claim they are. I have a new task for you. See if you can find anything about a boy named Ryoken Kogami."
Doktor gave a bow "Of course Professor. I will do so. Should I ready my parasites for him?"
He was eager to test his parasites on live subjects, to see if they could fight back from being controlled by him.
Akaba shook his head "No need for now. For now he doesn't seem like a threat. But if je became one then sure. You have my permission to do it."

And that's it for this chapter, how was it? Did you guys enjoy it?
Did anyone predict a plot twist like this? To use and mention other Yu-Gi-Oh main characters in this way? I think I did well, so praise me with stones :)
Probably no update for tomorrow cuz I'm dead tired from work. there's a small chance that I would write a chapter tomorrow if I have any energy left in me.
Anyway like always take care of yourselves. See you guys in the next chapter. Bye!
