Chapter 38 - A Helpless Man

"I don't," Si-Hun said, completely unbothered.

The officer looked at him for any signs of recognition or anything that might give him an idea if this guy knew about this.

"Okay. Did you, by any chance, witness ANYTHING? Any suspicious person, any screams, any blood or fights?" Minjun said, his eyes darker than usual.

"I'm not sure if I did," Si-Hun said, his expression unreadable.

"Hmm. You can go right now, but we may call you again for the investigation."

"Okay." Si-Hun turned around and left.

Minjun saw him leaving.

"He looked too confident for me to ignore." Minjun thought seeing Si-Hun leave.

"That guy…he's not ordinary, is he? He gives me some…off energy," Si-Hun asked himself.

"I didn't know they would get so serious about this whole thing.''

"Of course they would. I'm sure they found out about that blood. You noticed how the blood of those entities is…weird? It's like it's a whole new type out of this world, and that's what's made them so suspicious. And that officer, he seemed not too ordinary."

"That blood is unlike any blood on this Earth. That blood doesn't even have ANY DNA in it. That's what makes it stand out. Even monsters have plasma in their blood, but that blood, it's just some sort of liquid. Entirely meaningless."

"Tch. Leave it. I have to go to Arthur's today."

"Oh yeah. Isn't your little brother coming today, too?"

"Ah, yeah, he is."

"Did you give the bike for repair?"

"Yeah, I did. We just have to pick it up from the repair shop on our way."

Kuro nodded, and they left.

"Hey! Came from the bike, young man?"

"Yeah. Is it repaired?"

"You came at just the right time. Your bike's all ready-to-go!"

"Thanks, ajhussi," Si-Hun said, smiling a little.

He was kind to the elderly.

"Ahh, no problem! Young folks like you really remind me that there are some respectful people as well! Your parents raised you well!"

"Uh…yeah." The smile didn't go when he said that.

"His parents? Tch. What good did they even do?"

Si-Hun paid the man and took his bike.

He patted the bike and sat, wearing the helmet over his head.

"Sit,''

Kuro sat behind him.

"I'm ready for another ride this time!" He said, Happy.

"I am too, haha." Si-Hun chuckled and started his bike.

"Who's he talking to?" The repairman whispered to himself while returning to do his work.

Si-Hun started the accelerator and the bike made a growl sound.

"Whoa! This thing's all new!" Si-Hun said.

They fled to Arthur's shop.

It was the same road again.

Even emptier this time.

It was still daylight, but he couldn't let that ruin the mood.

"The Sun is still out, but that can't ruin the vibe here, huh!?"

He smirked and rode the bike at full speed.

"You're gonna get a speeding ticket!"

"Don't worry! There are no cops here!" They had to talk loudly since it was hard to listen with such high air pressure.

The Sun cast a pale glow on Si-Hun's silky hair, which made it shine beautifully.

They reached Arthur's shop in some time.

He took off his helmet and entered the shop.

"Hey Arthur! Told ya I'll come back!"

"Haha! My young man came back without me havin' to wait 6 years this time!"

Arthur patted his back, and they shared a small hug.

"Arthur, I gotta ask you something…"

"Yeah, go ahead. I'm listening."

"I…want you to teach me how to perfect my aim for the long run."

Arthur gave him an amused look.

"Hell yeah!" He said, chuckling.

"Thanks, Arthur. You don't know how much that means to me." Si-Hun said, looking down and smiling.

"Hey, come here, child. You don't say thanks to your mentor for teaching you!"

"Don't say it like this! I appreciate it man, really."

Arthur smiled and nodded.

"I want you here tomorrow little boy."

"Haha, I'll be right here. But the time?"

"Sharp 4 in the evening, 4 times a week."

"Got it."

"But…where will we practice?"

"In the woods. I have my whole setup there. I'll take you to hunt deer with me." Arthur said, patting Si-Hun's shoulder.

"You're…really cool, Arthur."

"Maybe a father I never had." Si-Hun thought.

"I believe in you, young man. I always did, and I still do."

Si-Hun's brows twitched a little from something he couldn't explain, nothing bad…just something painful.

"It's time, then. I'll see ya tomorrow!" Si-Hun said, looking at his watch.

"I got Ji-Ho waiting to come over today!"

"Go ahead, young man. You're doing well. Your brother is gonna grow up a prince when his big brother's a king." Arthur said, smiling.

"I'm no king."

"You are, young man."

Si-Hun smiled through the corner of his mouth and waved goodbye at Arthur.

"Bye…"

"Be safe!"

"I will." Saying this, Si-Hun left.

The ride home was quiet, and they both just enjoyed the sunset.

"I have to pick Ji-Ho up from home. You mind flying alongside the bike?"

"Nah. I'll challenge you to a race."

"Haha, we'll see…"

Si-Hun arrived at his parents' house.

He knocked at the door.

His father opened.

Si-Hun's breath hitched a little but he looked away.

"How're you doing, father?"

"I'm doing fine. What are you here for?"

"I…am here to pick Ji-Ho. Could you send him down?"

His dad looked at him and called for Ji-Ho.

"Coming!"

Ji-Ho said as he raced down the stairs and arrived at the door.

"Careful, you'll get yourself hurt."

"~Ah, Hyung! Don't start giving me lectures here!"

"Haha, come hop on."

"We're riding on your bike!?"

"Yeah," Si-Hun said, smiling.

"Yoo, I love bike rides!"

Ji-Ho said as he hopped behind Si-Hun.

"We'll leave…father."

His father didn't say anything and just shut the door on him after waving goodbye to Ji-Ho.

Si-Hun didn't do anything; his expression was a mix of coldness, but behind that cold mask lay a man who looked forward to his father even after everything his father had ever done to him.

Si-Hun looked forward on the road and adjusted his helmet.

His dad was still the same man, cold and uninterested in him.

Never loving.

He didn't even invite him inside when he came after so long.

"I'm excited to see your new house, brother!!!"
