In the quiet town of Larkspur, nestled between rolling hills and endless forests, fourteen-year-old Mira Maclean had always felt like an outsider. Her curious mind, wild imagination, and a heart that yearned for the extraordinary set her apart from the townsfolk. She often lost herself in books about distant galaxies and strange worlds, dreaming of adventures beyond the mundane.
"Mira Darling, it's dinner time." Mira's Mother shouts
" I'm coming!"
Mira then stands up, stares out into the field as the wind passes through her hair.
She sighed and headed back home.
"So how was your outing today, honey? "
" It was the same as usual, you know the norm, I think about getting abducted by aliens ... The usual stuff ." Mira says with her mouth stuffed.
" Why do you waste your time on such foolish things, I worry about you sometimes darling."
" Mom I'm fine, I am really okay. You just don't understand me."
Mira's Mother sighs
" Okay I'm done."
" Where are you heading this time? Your father will be home soon and he's going to worry about you if he doesn't see you when he gets back, he's not going to be happy. You know how he feels about you been all alone for too long with your books and your thoughts. We are both really concerned about you, promise me that you will let us in one day."
Mira goes over and hugs her mother for what felt like forever, " Okay mom I promise when I'm ready I will come to you both and tell you guys everything."
" Okay see you later."
" Alright take care."
In The Heart Of Larkspur - The Marketplace
" Hey Mira what'chu looking to buy today? "
" Nothing, I'm here to keep you company and I also wanted to read my book in a quiet and comfortable place without much disturbance."
" Kid this place is far from quiet and comfortable, look around this place is messy, crowded and noisy."
Mira smiles, " I know, I just wanted someone to talk to, you know how I get when I'm all by myself for too long. I just learnt that my parents are really concerned for me, I don't understand why, but I don't want to stress them out too much they're all I got after all."
" That hurts, I feel very hurt as your ear and friend."
" You know what I mean, if I'm the reason why my parents die it would literally kill me."
" Listen I get it, I love my parents too and your parents has a valid reason to be worried about your mental state, but you don't have to worry about them, their actually stronger than you give them credit for and besides their already use to your weird tendencies of you going to god knows where and coming back with a sailor's tale. "
" Whatever it's actually getting late, I'm going to head back home. My father's probably home by now ... And furious."
" Okay, see you tomorrow!"
Mira waves good bye.
At Home
Mira tip toed inside, " You stop right there, where are you coming from? Were you with those grown ups again? How much time do I have to tell you to stay away from those nosy people and help your mother take care of the house. You stubborn little child! "
" Father why are you so mean? " Mira says with her eyes filled with tears
Her father froze, " I am sorry just be obedient and stay home with your mother so I don't get like this every time."
" I am sorry father for been a bad daughter."
Mira's father walked away
" Go up stairs and change out of those dirty clothes." Mira's Mother says softly
