The systems neutral voice seemed to echo around my mind as I took in the information so far.
"There are many empires and kingdoms that make up the continent of Elysium, where myriad races such as elves and humans reside. The gods, before their slumber, would fight each other, not physically, but in a scheming way, all for these mortals faith.
There are only so many mortals and races in the world and considering their powers are linked to it, through faith, you can imagine the type of machinations that were played."
My voice rumbled through the eery cavern as I said. "So, that is why that entity said it would be easier? Because I can now while they still sleep, go and establish my own church, ready for when the path to the divine throne reopens after the gods awaken."
"Exactly, Host. Once the gods reawaken, they will attempt to reclaim their former domains and positions. However, if you can use this time to gather followers before that happens, while most mortals have turned their backs on the divine, you'll gain a tremendous advantage.
All gods will be starting over at the same power level. In this world, the strength of a god is determined by faith accumulated within your Godcore. The hierarchy is divided into tiers:
Levels 1–4: Lower Deity
Levels 5–8: Middle Deity
Levels 9–12: High Deity
Even a god who once reigned as a High Deity, after eons of worship, will reawaken as a mere Lower Deity, equal to the rest. This means they can no longer suppress new contenders or rising threats to their thrones… at least, not for a long while.
And by the time they can" the voice paused, almost smug, "you will already be a god of high power and it will be too late for them to stop you."
I pondered on what the system, which is gaining more personality as time goes on, said. This is sounding more and more doable. Hmm, but there is one more thing.
"What is this Godcore, you mentioned? And how do I get one? Is it part of the process of ascending to godhood in this world?"
The system voice dinged, yet again, before proceeding to answer my questions, like some sort of search engine.
"A Godcore is required for any being in this world to ascend and become a god.
Typically, a cultivator advances until reaching the stage just below Demi-God. To break through and form a Godcore, they must first comprehend a Law—a fundamental truth or principle of the world, upon which their divinity will be built.
For example, someone who comprehends even a fragment of the Law of Fire can form a Godcore aligned with that Law, thereby becoming a Demi-God. From that point, they must fill their Godcore with faith energy gathered from worshippers, until it ignites a Divine Flame, marking their full ascension into godhood.
However, ascension is perilous. During this process, other gods can attack or interfere, though, fortunately for you, they will all be too occupied with waking up and getting to grips with their new reality to notice.
Now, about Laws they are the building blocks of reality itself, ranging from elemental concepts like Fire or Water to abstract ones such as Death or Slaughter. The more deeply a god comprehends their chosen Law, the greater their power.
The strongest gods are those who have achieved complete mastery, 100% comprehension, of their Law. However, laws can be stolen partly or fully from gods.
Additionally, Laws possess qualities, ranked as Low, Middle, and High. Even a god with countless followers will remain a Lower Deity, if their Law is of low quality, whereas one who wields a High Law can reach the pinnacle."
I took in a sharp breath, as I tried to understand the information conveyed to me. So a Godcore is something you form once becoming something more than mortal and to be able to ascend, you need to garner faith and comprehend a portion of a Law.
"System, I am guessing there are cultivation levels or something similar in this world?" My voice, deep and resonate echoed off the cavern walls.
"Yes, Host. Mortals in this world follow one of two primary paths — Magic or Aura.
However, the power of magic is deeply tied to the God of Magic. When he fell into slumber, the foundation of all magic began to collapse. In the past, the God of Magic established an intricate Arcane Network to make the use of magic easier and more efficient, therefore, making it easier to gain followers and faith. Through it, mortals could channel magical energy seamlessly, and countless magical civilizations flourished under his influence.
But with the gods now asleep, that network has broken down. As a result, mortals struggle to comprehend or cast magic as they once did. To survive, most have turned instead to the path of Aura.
Aura is an internal energy that strengthens the body and resides within a person's dantian—a lesser version of a Godcore. It allows them to draw upon this energy to enhance their physical capabilities. However, compared to the mages of old, these aura users are... far weaker.
Aura was, in essence, a creation born out of necessity, an attempt to compensate for the loss of magic in a godless age."
So, the mortal races mainly use Aura now. Magic has become obsolete. However, that will not be for long. When the gods reawaken, and the Arcane Network is established, which the God of Magic will do, this is his main way of gaining power after all, this will change.
My voice rumbles like thunder, as I yet again, ask for more information before plotting my course.
"System, what are the levels of cultivation for Aura?"
"There are six levels Host. the first: Body Tempering – Strengthening flesh and bone to endure Aura circulation. The second: Aura Initiate – First awakening of Aura within the dantian. The third: Aura Practitioner – Aura begins reinforcing muscles and senses. The fourth: Aura Master – Capable of projecting Aura externally; strikes carry destructive power. The fifth: Aura Grandmaster – Body becomes a conduit of living energy; limited flight or elemental infusion possible. Lastly, the six and final level: Saint of Aura – Mortality fades; body rivals divine creatures. One step away from transcending flesh to reach Demi-God level."
"So what level am I system, I am a dragon, not even a mortal race, how do I get to the Demi-God level?"
"Host, you are already there."
My scaly face showed a slight shock, as my mind spun.
"What do you mean I am already there? I have not comprehend a law or gained a Godcore!"
The system seemed to hum with humour at my reaction.
"It is simple, Host. The entity ********** Just made it so you were reborn in this world with the Godcore of the original Dragon God. Your core is not active, as the path to the divine throne is cut off right now, and you lack the following, however, there is still some left over faith energy in there. You should use it sparingly when you will need it. Laws attach themselves to the Godcore after being comprehended, meaning that you technically have comprehended the Law associated with this Godcore, which is a High quality one, the Law of Dragons."
Just as I was stewing in this crazy situation, I felt my body being sucked into some sort of glowing magical circle that showed up above me.
"System what the hell is this?!" My voice boomed.
"It is a summoning circle, it seems someone powerful is trying to summon a mythical creature! Host remember when I said you had faith energy remaining? Now would be the time to use it, think about enlarging your body and do it, if not, when you get summoned they will likely kill you for seeming young and weak."
