The life of an Alpha has never been easy. Tonight had been a grim reminder of that truth.
Something terrible had happened within the pack, something none of us could have anticipated or controlled. I had received a call from my Beta earlier, informing me that one of our own had murdered his mate. In a fit of madness, he had tried to kill their son as well. The boy had survived, but his father had taken his own life shortly afterward.
We had spent hours at the family's home, combing through every detail, searching for a reason that could explain such brutality. On the surface, the man had everything. Wealth. Stability. A family that loved him. None of it made sense until we uncovered the truth hidden among his belongings.
He had been involved with the rogues.
