Lilian's POV
My father's anger was building toward an explosion, but I cut him short, seizing his arm and dragging him away from the office building.
The moment we stepped outside, he spun around, his face twisted with rage. "What the hell was that supposed to be? I had him cornered in there. Another minute and Augusto would have written me a check on the spot."
"And what makes you think that?" I snapped back, pain shooting through my skull. "He's finished with our family. He doesn't want me anymore. What reason would he have to hand you money?"
"Why did you storm into his workplace and assault the woman he's in love with? When did you become this kind of person?"
"Don't you dare lecture me," my father snarled. "I'm out here making a fool of myself because my own daughter would rather watch me suffer than swallow her pride and ask her rich ex for help."
