Lilian's POV
The corporate building felt eerily quiet when I arrived an hour past closing time, clutching the dinner container in my hands. Most employees had already gone home for the evening, leaving the hallways dimly lit and empty.
I headed straight for the executive floor, planning to leave the meal with Augusto's secretary. But when I reached the office suite, I found it completely deserted.
Maybe he had already left for the day. Still, I decided to try his office door just in case.
I knocked softly, not expecting any answer.
His deep voice immediately responded from inside. "Come in."
My pulse quickened as I pushed open the door. Augusto sat behind his massive desk, absorbed in reviewing a stack of documents. His jaw was set with concentration, creating that familiar crease between his eyebrows.
