Lilian's POV
Augusto's fingers traced the buttons of my blouse with deliberate slowness, but I pulled back once more. "Please, could you make the transfer now?" The words tumbled out desperately.
"In a moment," he breathed against my throat, his voice carrying that familiar velvet promise. "You have my word on it."
My trust in him ran bone-deep, yet urgency clawed at my chest as precious seconds slipped away.
I placed my palms firmly against his solid chest, creating necessary distance between our heated bodies. "Could you possibly do it right now?" My whisper held barely contained panic. "The situation is really urgent because..."
The transformation in Augusto's face was instant and devastating. Warmth fled his eyes, replaced by something that made my stomach drop.
