Chapter 29 - Learning Holy Light Spells

The journey for everyone would take about ten days, during which Rhodes could accumulate a full 20,000 units of gold, plus a little ore and wood each day.

Along the way, Uther began to teach Rhodes the way of the Holy Light, instructing him in some Holy Light Spells, while Rhodes took out his magical spellbook and began to record everything Uther taught him.

Every day, Uther would teach Rhodes a new Holy Light spell. In fact, as long as the magic was transcribed into the spellbook, Rhodes could use it, but to avoid seeming too strange, Rhodes still diligently discussed the way of the Holy Light with Uther, and these so-called discussions were essentially mutual spiritual pep talks.

For Rhodes, who had been in the workplace for many years, this kind of thing was a piece of cake! Wasn't it just drawing a big picture, talking about justice, and strengthening one's faith?

During this period, Rhodes learned Blessing of Wisdom, Blessing of Kings, Holy Light spell, Divine Shield, and a Holy Storm from Uther.

These spells were all very good. Blessing of Wisdom and Blessing of Kings could apply positive status effects to himself, and the Holy Light spell was even better than Holy Light Flash.

Divine Shield was a defensive skill that could be used in conjunction with Arcane Shield. When a battle started, he could first apply two protective spells to himself, like a turtle shell.

Holy Storm, on the other hand, was a purely offensive spell that could attack all enemies around him. This spell was very practical.

After discussing with Uther for two hours, Rhodes indicated that he had already understood the principle of Holy Storm, then stood up, a golden light flashing all over his body, and a spiral Holy Light storm began to rotate around Rhodes. The Paladin's offensive move, Holy Storm, was successfully cast.

Watching Rhodes cast Holy Storm, Uther was astonished. Learning one spell a day and being able to understand and cast it immediately—this child was a natural Paladin!

His talent was far stronger than Arthas'. Arthas had studied with him for so long and only learned one Divine Shield, one Holy Light Flash, and a Holy Light spell.

Rhodes' Holy Light talent was several levels higher than Arthas', which made Uther develop an appreciation for his talent.

However, before that, Uther planned to test Rhodes further, because through these days of teaching, he realized that Rhodes learned more than just one Holy Light spell a day.

Uther had a feeling that it seemed he only needed to explain the principle of a spell in detail, and Rhodes would understand it. The subsequent discussions were merely explorations of the way of the Holy Light, not of the spells themselves.

"Rhodes, we have plenty of time today, let me teach you a few more Holy Light Spells!" Uther intended to test his hypothesis.

"Alright! Lord Uther, I am quite interested in Holy Light Spells," Rhodes said, immediately sitting down after casting Holy Storm.

"The next spell I'll teach you is called Blessing of Might. This skill can be cast on yourself or on others, and it can increase the target's strength.

There's also a Lay on Hands spell. This one is quite special; it's the most powerful healing spell among all Holy Light Spells.

Besides that, there's a skill called Consecration, which infuses Holy Light energy into the ground beneath your feet, forming an area of Holy Light that can protect your teammates and also attack the scourge." This time, Uther intended to transmit three Holy Light Spells at once to see if Rhodes could learn them.

It only took Uther a few tens of minutes to roughly explain how to use the three spells.

And these three spells automatically appeared in Rhodes' spellbook, successfully transcribed.

"I've roughly grasped the principles of these three spells, Lord Uther. First is Blessing of Might." Rhodes stood up and raised his hand to cast a Blessing of Might, targeting Uther.

In Uther's eyes, an expression of disbelief flashed. This child was indeed casting it for the first time, and he learned it in an instant.

Next, Rhodes successively cast Lay on Hands and Consecration, making the ground beneath his feet shimmer with golden light, and he himself was enveloped in a layer of Holy Light, leaving some Paladins and ordinary mortal soldiers present dumbfounded.

"How was it, Lord Uther? You can point out any issues with my spells," Rhodes said humbly.

Now he had a 3-point strength bonus, so the Holy Light Spells he cast were quite powerful.

After seeing Rhodes learn three Holy Light Spells so quickly, Uther finally confirmed the answer in his heart.

"Truly admirable, Rhodes, your Holy Light talent is like a gift from the Holy Light.

The Holy Light has favored you; you are a favored one of the Holy Light.

You should join the Silver Hand and become a great Paladin, spreading the way of the Holy Light." This time, Uther sincerely invited Rhodes. Such Holy Light talent should not be buried; the Knights of the Silver Hand was the true home for Rhodes.

The Holy Light Spells Rhodes had just cast were even more powerful than those cast by some official Paladins.

"Ahem! Lord Uther, your invitation is very flattering, but I still wish to travel around for now, and I will not abandon the path of a mage either," Rhodes said tactfully.

What a joke! Join the Knights of the Silver Hand? How would he go to Kalimdor then? I don't want to stay here and clash head-on with the scourge and the Burning Legion.

"This is the will of the Holy Light, and also a gift from the Holy Light.

Rhodes, it was the Holy Light that guided me to meet you and taught you Holy Light Spells. You might not know, child, that in 5 days, you have walked a path that other Paladins might not complete in a lifetime," Uther said.

The Paladin profession had only existed for a little over a decade, but many spells and special skills had been developed. Yet, no Paladin had ever learned 8 Holy Light Spells within 5 days.

This young man named Rhodes' comprehension of Holy Light Spells and his understanding of the way of the Holy Light were terrifyingly strong. Even when conversing with him, some of his righteous words moved Uther. (In essence, it was modern spiritual pep talk.)

"We still have a few days of travel, Lord Uther. Perhaps after I have visited Capital City of Lordaeron.

And returned from Dalaran, I will give you an answer." Since things had come to this, Rhodes found it difficult to flat-out refuse, so he gave an ambiguous answer.

I'll freeload your Paladin spells first. When I leave Dalaran, I might just be heading to Kalimdor.

"Then it's settled, Rhodes. I believe in the guidance of the Holy Light; you will surely return to the way of the Holy Light," Uther said.

Rhodes nodded upon hearing this, saying nothing more.
