Prologue: Rain After a Hundred Years Save One

For six hundred years, the "Isle of Silence" had never seen the sun.

Everything was submerged in that eternal blue mist—a fog that wasn't icy like snow, but cold as death itself. It seeped into the bones, preserving bodies from decay but stealing their warmth forever.

In the city of "Gray Bones," situated at the heart of the island, everyone froze in place.

Merchants in the markets, warriors carrying rusted blades, even children playing with animal bones. All raised their pale heads toward the darkened sky. Their eyes, devoid of whiteness and entirely pitch-black, widened in astonishment.

A sound they hadn't heard for 99 years.

Patter... Patter... Splatter...

A drop of water fell onto the cheek of an elderly warrior. It wasn't a drop of blood, nor a drop of poison. It was pure water.

"The sky... is weeping?" someone whispered in a hoarse voice that sounded like stones grinding together.

Suddenly, a flash tore through the sky—and it wasn't blue. It was golden.

A strange color, painful to eyes accustomed to the dark. A streak of light pierced through the thick layers of the blue mist and plummeted with insane speed toward the "Forest of Forgotten Souls" in the south.

It wasn't a meteor.

It was a body.

It crashed into the earth, but it didn't cause a destructive explosion. Instead, it sent out a quiet shockwave that made the blue mist recoil in fear, as if a king had arrived to banish his subjects.

In the center of the crater, where the moisture of death had evaporated, lay a youth with hair white as liquid silver. His skin pulsed with a faint rosy hue—the color of "Life," the forbidden element in this land.

The youth opened his eyes. They weren't black like the islanders'; they were pure gold, carrying within them the wisdom of eons and the arrogance of the heavens.

He muttered in a weak, human voice, yet it carried absolute authority:

"So... this is the land where the cursed were exiled."

He tried to stand, but fell to his knees, coughing up bright red blood that stained the gray earth.

"A human body..." He looked at his hands in disbelief, then gave a mocking smile. "A harsh punishment, Oh Most High... You send me to uncover the secret of death, and you make me... mortal?"
