Chapter 11 - Vial

Elisa had a pained expression on her face as she thought in silence.

The slow movements of her fingers across the book she was researching.

She was deep in thought at what I had said earlier.

The butler.

He was fired a while ago.

Hired as a Preacher and executioner by Elisa's father to protect the faith they all had been following.

He went insane with the authority given to him, executing anyone and everyone who didn't follow the doctrines perfectly.

But why would he be back?

"For revenge obviously. Father fired him after drinking that potion. To him Father betrayed the faith he was hired to protect and thus he wants revenge."

Elisa stated. For the first time she had spoken to me in such a panicked voice.

"You knew he'd be around here didn't you? "

"Ofcourse I did. Grudges like his don't simply end over night but I never expected him to approach the house. He's quite bold."

"I'll kill him. Just like I did with that 'thing'. "

I said.

"You can't. You are not strong enough to kill him. I don't know why he let you enter but he's not going to let you leave. "

Elisa said. Her eyes now shining in a different tone, a reddish tone akin to glittering blood.

"I can come back from the dead and fight him again and again until I can kill him. Don't forget I can enchant now too."

I stated. If I tried I was sure I could kill him.

"Fool. He's an executioner. He will scramble your soul into such a mess you'll be wishing you were dead. You can't fight him, not can I. We both need to leave here, undetected."

Just as she said those words a howl came.

Red.

Unjust.

Black.

Green.

White.

All kinds of smell filled the air.

"I am sorry young mistress but that's simply not possible. You are not allowed to leave here. You are the one chosen by the God. Given special treatment. And he's the one favoured. Both of you are going to forever remain here as a testament to the authority of god."

The small window.

A small face was squeezed into it.

Blood flowed down from the deformation of the skull.

It's eyes were locked onto us. Almost as if worshipping out form.

*Slaaash*

Elisa used a dagger to stab him.

Flames burst from the wound. But he wasn't burned.

He remained quiet. Staring.

Then slowly he backed off.

"What the fuck was that?" I asked.

"It's his obsession. I don't know what he meant by "favoured " though. He's obsessing over my blessing, and for some reason you too." Elisa stated, continuing " don't worry, he can't enter here. The second floor is safe . He's forbidden from being anywhere near me by an enchantment. "

I understood what's going on. We can't leave here . And we can't fight him. What options did we have left?

Escaping through the windows while risking a confrontation?

Fighting him head on?

Talking to him and convincing him to let us leave?

What could we do?

There had to be something.

There's always an option.

I thought and I thought.

There had to be something...

"Let's leave. I know of a way. Get me my Father's corpse."

Elisa said.

I went and dragged the corpse back into the room .

*plunge!*

She tear opened the belly and started looking for something.

It was a grotesque sight.

"Found it."

She picked a small vial from the table top and filled it with something.

Black and blue.

Shining brightly.

Beautifully.

Mesmerizing.

I knew what it was immediately.

"This will distract him."

Elisa said as she sliced my arm off.

I stood there in silence not resisting.

She then injected my cut off arm with that vial.

And soon.

It became something else.

A 'thing'.

A horrific, arm thing the size of a obscenely large man.

It stood still. Not moving an inch.

"It can't move as it has no brain but I doubt he'd understand that."

"What are you planning on doing?" I asked her.

" I don't need to explain it to you , just know this will be his priority over you and me, a disgrace of God." Elisa said as she dragged it and threw it off onto the ground floor.

" MAKE A RUN FOR IT!" She screamed .

And so I did.

I ran to the room where I initially found her and jumped out from the window.

Elisa followed.

"Run to the church! "

Elisa said.
