Haah—
Chen Yi rubbed his eyes and yawned. He shut down all the phones and notebooks, stuffing them back into his backpack—they could be kept for later, to be dismantled and used for making other things.
"Brother, I'm going out to kill zombies. You should rest at home."
Li Miao'er brought over her camouflage uniform and sneakers, blinking her beautiful eyes as she motioned for him to help her get dressed.
"Meow, be careful of other survivors out there. And don't be reckless when you encounter zombies. Understand?"
Chen Yi gently helped Sister Meow into her clothes and shoes, like a tender young husband dressing his wife who was about to go off to war.
"Brother, don't worry~"
Li Miao'er confidently patted her small chest, then ran to the bathroom to retrieve a bayonet with a handle—one of the weapons from the three unlucky guys this morning—along with her own Tiger Machete.
"Meow, don't aim for a zombie's heart, just go for the head. Otherwise, you won't get an Energy Crystal. Clear out the zombies downstairs first."
Chen Yi gently pinched Sister Meow's pretty cheek, giving her final instructions.
"Mmm."
Li Miao'er hugged her brother's delicate body tightly, then pressed her soft pink lips fiercely against his for a deep kiss.
A long moment later, feeling his breathing grow rapid, she triumphantly let him go.
"Brother, don't come out. Wait for me to come home."
Li Miao'er licked the moisture from her lips. Without a shred of hesitation, she pushed open the iron security door and dashed down the stairs.
"This little pervert… she's really too much."
Chen Yi pressed his thin lips together and returned to the bedroom. He found a notebook, opened the offline map stored on the phone, and began reviewing the area information saved on the laptop.
The apocalypse has only been here for two days. There shouldn't be any particularly powerful zombies or special mutated creatures yet. No need to worry too much about her safety.
He needed to find a place suitable for long-term habitation, gather the necessary materials for relocation, and plan for building an ideal base.
Swish!
Thud!
The gleaming machete cleaved through the grinning zombie's skull. The once-proud female zombie fell dead on the spot.
Awooo!
The other two zombies, previously squatting by a doorway and feasting, snapped to attention. Letting out excited roars, they frantically charged toward Li Miao'er.
Hah!
Li Miao'er showed not the slightest intention to retreat. Gripping the damp knife handle tightly with both hands, the small muscles in her arms tensed.
Hork! Hork!
A zombie opened its foul-smelling maw, baring sharp fangs as it lunged to bite Li Miao'er's body. It wanted to tear her apart and devour her delicious flesh and blood.
Bang!
Li Miao'er swiftly raised her small foot and kicked the nearest zombie away with force, simultaneously swinging her arms in a violent arc.
A cold gleam flashed across the blade's edge. The zombie's head, along with a spray of thick, filthy blood, tumbled backward at her feet.
Thump!
Li Miao'er swung the machete at blinding speed, hacking at the neck of the other zombie that had fallen to the ground.
Thud!
The zombie's grotesque head rolled across the floor, foul blood slowly trickling down the corridor.
Li Miao'er's beautiful eyes held a chilling gaze. She wiped the machete twice on the zombie's clothes, paying no mind to the blood spatter on her own body.
Crouching slightly, she used the bayonet to slice open the zombie's chest, wrapped her hands in a plastic bag, dug out the Energy Crystal, and placed it in her pocket.
Holy crap! That's way too hardcore!
The survivors hiding in the nearby apartment were stunned, watching the girl outside their door single-handedly chop two zombies to pieces.
It was as neat and simple as slicing vegetables—so efficient it was hard for some to believe it was real.
"Little sister… are you a resident of this building?"
The survivors inside cautiously opened their door. The stench outside confirmed it was all real, yet it remained somewhat unbelievable.
"No."
Li Miao'er glanced up at them, replying coldly, her grip tightening on the machete.
"Sister, are you… police? Or military?"
A middle-aged woman standing at the back pushed past the man blocking the doorway and stepped forward, a flattering smile on her face.
"No. I'm just an ordinary person. What else do you want?"
Li Miao'er replied impatiently. She still had zombies to kill and Energy Crystals to collect. She didn't have time to chit-chat.
"Little sister, the police chief nearby is my sister-in-law. I'd like to hire you as my bodyguard. Would you be interested?" the middle-aged woman asked hurriedly.
Seeing Li Miao'er's disinterested expression, she quickly added: "My sister-in-law has many people under her command. As long as you get me safely to her, I can pay you a lot of money, even give you several handsome men!"
"It's the apocalypse, and you're still spouting such nonsense. If you want to survive, don't be afraid of death. Dig out a zombie's heart and consume it to get stronger. Do your best to stay alive."
Li Miao'er frowned, giving them a once-over. Seeing their attitudes were at least decent, she coldly told them the method to grow stronger.
"Sister! I'm really not lying to you! Please, escort me to the apocalypse shelter base in Piaoxue City. I'm begging you!"
The middle-aged woman rushed over and grabbed Li Miao'er's sleeve, her attitude now extremely humble.
"Let go! Don't follow me! Or I'll kill you!"
Li Miao'er ripped the middle-aged woman's large, greasy hands away. She wasn't about to saddle herself with unnecessary trouble.
Especially after what happened this morning.
Ignoring the pleas of the men behind the woman, Li Miao'er walked downstairs, machete in hand.
Building D had nine zombies. Building C only had four.
In the entire two buildings, the only survivors she'd found were this one family. The rest were all dead.
Time to go home and improve my strength. I wonder what Brother is doing at home right now.
Li Miao'er smiled happily, fondling the Energy Crystals in her hand. She proudly licked her pink lips, her pretty face taking on a smug, triumphant expression.
"Brother! I'm back! Open up quick!" Li Miao'er stood at the door, ringing the doorbell repeatedly.
Mmmph—
The moment Chen Yi opened the door, he was enveloped in a tight hug by Sister Meow, who had rushed inside. Before he could even voice a greeting, his words were silenced by the small, cherry-like mouth that pressed against his, exuding a sweet fragrance.
"Brother, guess how many zombies I killed~"
Li Miao'er hugged her brother's delicate frame, kissing him deeply for a while. Only when she felt his increasingly strong resistance did she release him with a giggle.
"Hmph. What does that have to do with me?"
Chen Yi closed the door unhappily and headed for the bathroom. There was some blood on her legs and clothes—better to wash it off first.
"Brother, I killed thirteen zombies! Well, these are the Energy Crystals."
Li Miao'er followed him, lips pursed. The small palm she extended was filled with tiny red crystals, her cute face wearing an expression that begged for his praise.
"Meow, you're amazing! Let's go."
Chen Yi nodded helplessly and offered the praise, then took the Energy Crystals with a slight smile and began cleaning them.
"Brother, let's split these crystals—half for you, half for me. I'll go out to kill more zombies tonight."
Having said that, Li Miao'er began taking off her camouflage uniform and shoes. Her body carried a fishy smell mixed with sweat—she couldn't stand it anymore.
"Meow, you'll eat all these crystals later. If I eat them, they won't increase my physical strength much—they'd only boost my mental power a little. It's better to concentrate our resources on making you stronger first."
Chen Yi gently rubbed his sister's cheek as he explained. He set the cleaned Energy Crystals aside and picked up the showerhead to rinse the dirty blood from her body.
"Oh~ Okay, brother. Wash me up then~"
Li Miao'er pursed her lips and nodded, then giggled as she sat down on a chair, swinging her small feet. She stretched out her little white hand, requesting her brother to help her bathe, give her a massage, and provide a full-service treatment while he was at it.
