Chapter 1 - Chapter1: The Beginning

Chapter 1

Shin wakes up in a brightly lit room.

Confused, he wonders where he is. He stands up and walks toward the exit of the room. There, he encounters a maid. She looks at him and asks,

"Are you feeling better?"

Shin answers in confusion,

"What do you mean?"

The maid responds,

"You were hit on the head by a medium-sized stone and lost consciousness."

At that moment, Shin remembers everything again.

"That's right… I remember now," he says. Then he asks hurriedly,

"Where is my mother?"

"Your mother is in her room," the maid replies.

Shin thanks her.

Shin lives with his family in a temple on the continent of Laos, one of the seven continents in the land of mages, Eris. There are other countries on this continent, but they are far away from Eris. Eris is the third-largest country in Laos.

Shin heads to his mother's room to tell her what he wanted to say before the accident. When he arrives, she is already waiting for him.

Shin begins the conversation,

"M-Mom… I just wanted to tell you that I'm leaving. I want to travel the wide world."

His mother looks at him in shock.

"That's too dangerous. Why should I agree to this?"

Shin answers firmly,

"Because I want to change the world as it is."

His mother asks, confused,

"What do you mean by change?"

Shin says,

"The world is unfair. People are enslaved, others are killed—just because some think they are better than everyone else."

After a moment of silence, his mother replies,

"Alright, Shin. If this truly matters to you that much, then change this so-called unfair world."

Shin clenches his fist.

"I will!"

His mother smiles faintly and says,

"At least eat with us before you go."

Shin agrees.

That evening, they eat together as a family: his father, his mother, and his sister. His father remains silent, not saying a single word after hearing about Shin's decision. His sister begins to cry and asks him,

"Are you sure, Shin?"

Shin answers calmly,

"Yes. Nothing will change my mind. All these years of watching… it has to end."

After those words, Shin's sister runs to her room in tears. Shortly after, Shin also goes to sleep.

The next day, he washes up and gets dressed: his shirt, his pants, and his bag, which can hold many things. After finishing his preparations, he says goodbye to his family. Everyone watches in silence—except his sister.

With tears in her eyes, she says,

"Please survive, Shin."

Shin promises her,

"I will survive. And I will come back after I achieve my goal."

His sister waves goodbye.

Thus begins Shin's adventure.

Will he survive?

Or will he achieve his goal?
