Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 -- Mist Island

After the succession ceremony concluded, Bai Yue's life returned to a rare stretch of calm.

As the newly appointed Inspector of the Dojo of Limits, he temporarily had no concrete administrative duties. With Hong's tacit approval, he remained at the Elite Training Camp, continuing his cultivation while observing and guiding students when appropriate.

Yet after an extended period of seclusion, a restlessness gradually surfaced.

"I've been running nonstop since my memories awakened," Bai Yue reflected. "I haven't truly gone out to see the world."

For more than a year, his nerves had been taut, every thought centered on strengthening himself. Now, on Earth, his combat power had firmly entered the top tier. Coupled with his recent breakthrough to the Planetary Level, he suddenly realized something important—he lacked real combat experience against high-level monsters.

Cultivation without testing oneself against the world was a hidden pitfall.

After raising the matter with Hong, Bai Yue received immediate approval. Hong even reminded him that in Martial Dao cultivation, prolonged closed-door training without tempering oneself through real experience often led to stagnation.

With permission granted, Bai Yue went a step further.

From Hong's private treasury, he directly purchased a universe-grade intelligent fighter jet.

He could already fly at considerable speed as a Planetary-level martial artist—but if a fighter jet existed, why waste energy flying himself?

After bidding farewell to his colleagues at the Elite Training Camp and to Luo Feng, Bai Yue packed his belongings and returned to Jiangnan Base City, heading back to his villa in Mingyue Community.

The intelligent fighter jet descended smoothly into the community's parking area.

After half a year away, Bai Yue's return naturally drew attention. Neighbors greeted him warmly, and over the next few days, visitors arrived in waves. High-ranking members of the Dojo of Limits, government representatives, military officials, and emissaries from various factions all paid courtesy visits.

Only after things gradually quieted down did Bai Yue find time to breathe.

That was when he went to visit Luo Feng's family.

After Luo Feng became a martial artist, his family had also moved into Mingyue Community—right next door. Given Bai Yue's long-standing relationship with them, a visit was only natural.

"Uncle, Auntie," Bai Yue said with a smile as he handed over the gifts he brought. "I wasn't around when you moved in. I hope you won't mind me only visiting now."

"Haha, of course not," Luo Hongguo laughed warmly. "Little Feng rarely comes home after becoming a martial artist. It's good that you're here."

"That's right," Gong Xinlan added as she poured him tea. "Every time Little Feng goes out, I worry myself sick."

"You don't need to worry," Bai Yue said gently. "You know his temperament. He wouldn't act recklessly."

He glanced around the living room. "Where's Luo Hua? I don't see him."

"Ever since he recovered, he's been running around outside all day," Gong Xinlan replied helplessly. "We still need to thank you, Little Yao. If it weren't for the Water of Life you sent, Luo Hua would still be stuck in that wheelchair."

"Luo Feng is my brother," Bai Yue replied sincerely. "Helping Luo Hua is only right."

Just then, the door opened.

Luo Hua hurried in, eyes lighting up when he saw Bai Yue. "Brother Bai! You're here!"

"Look at you—running and jumping," Bai Yue laughed. "Recovered nicely. I hear you're always out these days… did you fancy a girl?"

Luo Hua's face instantly turned red.

The answer was obvious.

The room burst into laughter.

Not long after, Gong Xinlan prepared a full table of dishes. Host and guest ate heartily, the atmosphere relaxed and warm.

By the time Bai Yue returned home, it was already evening.

As usual, he cultivated gene original energy and Mental Power. With the aid of the Dao Fruit, his progress was astonishingly smooth. Planetary Level Stage Three was no longer far away.

After cultivation, he washed up and rested early.

The next day, Bai Yue officially set out on his journey.

His first destination was Australia.

In the original trajectory of events, this continent housed one of Luo Feng's earliest and greatest opportunities. Although Bai Yue knew that the Yunmo inheritance leaned heavily toward Mental Masters, he still wanted to try his luck.

The location of Mist Island was not difficult to find.

Monkey populations, lakes, and small islands were its defining characteristics. Through the Dojo of Limits' internal system, Bai Yue quickly locked onto its coordinates.

Soon, the intelligent fighter jet hovered above the island.

The cabin door opened.

Bai Yue, clad in a combat suit, alloy staff in hand and backpack secured, stepped out into the air.

From above, Mist Island presented a unique scene.

Water vapor rose endlessly from the surrounding lake, forming thick mist that enveloped the entire island. Everything below appeared hazy and indistinct, as though shrouded in a dream.

Occasional ripples flashed across the lake's surface. From his altitude, Bai Yue could clearly sense shadows moving beneath the water—aquatic monsters, lurking.

Compared to the lake, the island itself was strangely quiet.

The vegetation was lush, but signs of animal activity were scarce.

"Swish—swish—swish."

Several flying knives tore through the air.

Below a cliff at the island's center, a massive vine plant that covered the entire rock face was instantly severed into pieces.

"As expected," Bai Yue muttered, "the more beautiful something looks, the more dangerous it is."

Without Mental Power, this plant would have easily deceived most martial artists.

Its heart-shaped leaves gradually shifted from green to deep red, dotted with red-and-white blossoms. It looked almost ornamental. Yet beneath the dense vines lay piles of bleached bones. As Bai Yue approached earlier, the vines had quietly slithered toward him, attempting to bind him.

Now, bright red sap flowed from the severed sections, resembling blood.

Tracing the vines to their source, Bai Yue discovered that a single plant had blanketed the entire cliff face. In truth, it consisted of five main branches—four large, one small.

The four large branches had already been cut.

The remaining small branch was just over a meter long, yet densely packed with apricot-like fruits. Even from a distance, a faint fragrance drifted through the air. There were eleven or twelve in total.

Bai Yue carefully collected them and placed them into his backpack.

Still, he did not feel satisfied.

Plant spirits were never his primary objective.

He had already explored more than half of Mist Island, harvesting over twenty plant spirits along the way. Yet he felt no pull, no attraction—nothing that suggested a deeper inheritance.

He had already confirmed it.

He did not meet Babata's recruitment criteria.

Although he had expected this outcome, a trace of disappointment lingered. If he had obtained Hu Yanbo's inheritance, many detours could have been avoided.

"If I gain it, it's fortune. If I miss it, it's fate."

With that thought, Bai Yue let it go.

He no longer lingered.

Turning, he flew back toward the intelligent fighter jet.

In truth, he was mistaken.

Babata had never been able to scan his brain domain at all. At best, it could infer from public records and past performance. Moreover, Bai Yue's Mental Master aptitude had not been outstanding in the early stages—his innate mental energy ceiling had once only reached advanced Warlord.

That was why no attraction had manifested.

Mist Island still held other plant spirits, but Bai Yue chose not to harvest them further. They were of limited use to him now, and leaving opportunities for others was not a bad thing.

Back aboard the fighter jet, he placed the collected plant spirits into a specialized storage compartment.

Then he issued a command.

"Return to Jiangnan Base City."

He had intended to travel freely, but this first stop alone yielded a significant harvest. Some of these plant spirits required immediate processing—delaying would greatly reduce their efficacy.

For now, returning to base was the wiser choice.
