Scarlett's POV

•••

"Murderer!"

"Liar!"

"Killer!"

The screams and accusations echoed from the crowd as I was paraded through the packs grounds like a mere animal.

My hands were bound with silver chains as I could feel the blood trickle down my temple. I was numb all over. I could barely see anything straight.

After all, I had been locked up, chained as such for the past few days.

I had been beaten mercilessly, till my back ached, till my legs felt numb, and I had been starved.

They had made sure every single different torture method to keep me guilty had been used, and no matter how much I screamed that I was innocent, no one believed me.

I thought my fate would be different but I just realized fate is so cruel .

As I was being accused of killing my own father, while my stepsister had pointed hands at me as they had found me in the pool of matters blood and his heart in my hands,

A murder that I couldn't even recall.

I had begged my fiancé, Ronan. He was supposed to be the love of my life and my future mate. We were supposed to get married in just a few days.

All those soft kisses, the promises we shared, everything—I had hoped to change his mind as I began to beg him.

"Please Ronan. I didn't do it, okay? She's lying, I swear." Hoping he'd have a soft heart for me, but a cruel realization styled in mad my heart plummets, none of them wanted to believe me, especially him.

they immediately believed Shannon instead—that I killed my own father, who was the beloved beta of our pack.

Now my life sentence was already written with fate.

A death sentence would be better than being sent into the west-rogue islands, but yet I wasn't so lucky to be killed as my fate was sealed to the rogue islands.

"No, you can't do this to me," I said. "The moment I step in there I die." I begged Ronan, who chuckled,

"Death is just mercy to your cruel act against the beta of this pack, Scarlett." He said,

and my heart broke all the more watching him as he caressed a hand on my sister Shannon's back.

Shannon walked over to me with fake tears before she bent down, making sure nobody heard how she spoke.

"This is what you deserve, thinking that you could be the best mate for Alpha Ronan, but I'll prove to you that you are nothing, Scarlett.

I hope that the moment you enter into the rogue islands that you are claimed and violated by those beasts that rule those lands." She chuckled,

"Good riddance to you."

I tried to fight off my chains but Shannon was a good actress as she stumbled back. Her eyes were wide with a look.

"She's trying to still kill me, just like she did my father! I know you were always jealous, even though your own biological father loved me more than you, and now you're still trying to hurt me!"

Shannon pointed to me and everybody was tense with anger, eyes of disgust all loathed at me as Shannon ran to Ronan's side to hide behind him.

"Believe me all of you, I didn't do this." I begged them but they all turned their backs to me.

For the first time I knew I was alone. I knew that no one loved me.

The only one that did was dead now.

My fate was already a signed sentence as I was blindfolded and roughly placed into a cage carriage.

"Where are you taking me? Ronan, please!" I called for him. I knew he was there but he didn't respond.

As the carriage began to move everything hurt. The pain from the torture and lack of sleep for the past few days had left me in a terrible state.

For a moment I tried to take note of the roads that were leading me out of the pack but it didn't matter anymore because of the blindfold. I couldn't find my way back even if I tried.

The journey lasted hours, taking me further and further away from the territories.

The journey had started by morning when I could tell that the night had already struck. Wake up.

I heard Ronan's dark rumble. Just as I felt an aggressive hold on my arm, the two guards pushed me out of the cage.

I fought, I struggled, and tried to weave my way from their hold but there was no way I could.

The blindfold was then cruelly ripped from my face, letting the moon illuminate around me,

and dread filled me when I saw the part of the forest I was in. This was the entrance into the rogue island.

"No Ronan, please, you have to believe me." I saw my ex-fiancé who watched me while the two guards stood by my side, holding me.

He watched me with an unruly, cruel, stoic gaze, just as he took a few steps forward.

Just a look in his eyes had instructed the men to let me go.

While I stood with deep cuts on my feet and my dress in shreds at the edge of the cliff, down below was a hill with boulders,

thorns, and things that would make sure I did not likely survive the fall before I was even put into the Rogue Island.

"Look at me, Ronan. Shannon is lying to you," I told him, hoping that he answered me, but a wicked chuckle left his lips.

"Even if she is, everyone already sees you as a murderer," and my heart plummeted in realization that he knew all along he had planned it.

"You monster."

I whimpered as tears left my eyes. The shackles clacked against my wrists as I struggled, trying to attack him,

but then the cruel grip on my neck held me back.

"Shut up and accept your fate. You always thought that you were the best in our pack, didn't you?" he mocked

"because you thought you had the best graces and privilege to be the next Luna. Accept your fate, because we will never meet again, because I, Ronan Altair, reject you, Scarlett Blackwood as my mate, I sever the bond and your life."

I trashed and cried as the pain hit me.

"You bastard—!" I couldn't even finish my sentence as I felt a cruel kick to my abdomen,

one that launched me off the cliff. My body rolled down this deep cliff,

hitting boulders and tearing through thorns and sharp-bladed grass till my body fell into a sticky, warm puddle of mud.

But at least it was a soft landing.

My breath was slow and harsh. I could barely move as my eyes turned to the light and moon illuminating my body.

And in this moment I hoped to be dead, but I wasn't,

Because dying would be a better sentence than being found by the wolves who were going to use me as a sex slave.

As fate was so cruel I didn't die. Instead I could hear the howls of wolves trailing closer as I pushed myself off the mud.

They were coming for me. I was the newest fresh meat on the island that was filled with only males.

I knew I needed to run. I needed to survive.
