Within the Kyrios Empire, there are multiple eminent figures who are capable of deciding the fate of any single individual; this power they wield as if it's not even an effort on their part.
One among those people is the swordsman's, Argus' father, the Ever-Burning Sword Dragon, Arthur von Draconia, a man who was the sole inheritor to that glorious Draconia name, house that always produces the sharpest sword for the empire to defend itself with, and this inheritor, the Sword Dragon, being the greatest sword that this noble house had ever produced.
A testament to this fact is the wake of the wars, nay, the one-sided slaughter he and his force had committed against the all-powerful and brutal barbarian tribes that threaten the edges of the north, those people who were known to know no fear, trembling in sheer terror every single time the mention of the Sword Dragon's name reaches their ears.
Perhaps it is because the young man is always in the presence of someone so overwhelmingly powerful that he can stand against the grandeur of the oppressive air around the white-haired ethereal beauty, or perhaps it is due to an entirely different reason altogether, this lady thought as she eyes the young man who appears to keep even just a semblance of calm even after his words were cut short by her for the second time in a row.
Yura Arcana von Historia
If any individual knowledgeable enough to know about her were to be asked about their opinion towards her, most of the people might just say that even with all that beauty to show for herself, her grumpy, often distant or just straight up aloof, arrogant personality balances, or perhaps even drag this beauty down, while the other side, along with Argus, the people who knows of the truth behind her, thinks that it is only normal for someone who had lived a life like hers.
'No family left, not having the chance to experience love, not even a tiny spark of it, just sitting here, doing her job…'
Despite knowing her, no, even being quite close to her during his past life before everything truly collapsed and this world he is currently living in completely changed, the young man only knew of those lines regarding her past, past that she never divulged even when the trust between the two of them grows to the point of trusting their lives with each other's hands, past that he never had the chance to hear back in that life.
While her personal story might not be available for him right now, though, there is one thing that he can easily deduce from the things he has learned about her, along with the title that is a dead giveaway of the blessing and curse she has been carrying on her back ever since she was born.
Her noble house's, or rather, her own surname, granted by the founding emperor, was taken by her own hand for herself alone.
Historia.
The chronicler, she who took it upon herself not only to write, record, and archive the very founding of this empire and its growth all by herself, but also to keep the essence of the empire that the founding members created, a mission that appears to be going successfully so far.
Hence the respect that she commands even when she hit the limits of her growth, even when the eminent figures, the pillars of the empire attained strength that far outclasses her own, and for such great contribution to the empire, a title truly befitting of her stature was granted to her, not only by the emperor, but by the pillars of the empire as well.
The Immortal Maiden of the Imperial Library.
Of course, such a high status and title, respected by even the pillars that hold the empire, comes with the dignity of someone who couldn't be offended even by his family and even the emperor himself, as it is practically disrespecting the millennial history that the Kyrios Empire had accumulated in its entire existence.
Hence the reason as to why this lady, or rather, woman feels extremely annoyed right now, the well-deserved title signifying the charm she possesses, one that can bend nations, kingdoms and empire to her will if she truly wants it, the very same charm that is also the reason as to why the commonness of young nobles visiting her abode every now and then, seemingly wanting to take their chances on her even if it is the last thing they would do.
'That seems to be the case for this young man as well… such a pity, that Arthur is such a good kid too.'
The Immortal Maiden thought to herself as she spares what she considers her final glance towards the young man in front of her, a young man whose words are already interrupted by hers twice in this single conversation alone, something that will definitely shatter any normal person's ego and pride to the ground by now.
And yet, instead of the usual apologies, the usual meek or scared nature that one often, no, always shows whenever they come to realize the gravity of her presence, it becomes her turn to feel flustered as she saw something she couldn't believe she could see from a boy as young as this one.
Within that singular moment that the greatest sage slipped up and allowed his intent to leak out of his being, the remembrancer, the archivist, and the recorder of the empire's seemingly eternal history coincidentally took a quick peek into what the one who returned is hiding from himself.
An endless field of eternal battle and slaughter, a path so brutal that she couldn't help but tremble upon the thought of what this young man had to go through in order to let out such intense, powerful intent.
Fortunately, before she could spiral into the depths of imagining the extent of suffering said young man had to go through for him to possess such intent, she was snapped back into awareness by the words spoken by the former greatest sage.
"Would you mind letting me finish my words first, Lady Arcana?"
Those words, laced with clear annoyance as those eyes stare unto her face, not with the usual desire or even lust, but rather, fascination, admiration, and a trace of reminiscence deep beneath, making her feel a bit abashed as she wonders for a second the reason of this young man to hold such deep, complex emotions in his eyes as he gazes towards hers.
If it goes on as how this ethereal lady usually do, she would immediately "send" the "guest" out of her abode, forgetting the face along with the annoyance it brought to her the moment she can no longer see it, or quite possibly, if she's in quite the ill mood, then perhaps the unfortunate person might receive a little bit of a beating as well.
Right now, however, there's none of those annoyances nor those ill-tempered intentions, as that single moment of pure intent alone is enough to turn those negative emotions into not only that sharp, intense curiosity, but to heavy interest as well.
