Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1 – A DARK FOREST ADVENTURE

The air felt cracked not figuratively but literally, a pale feminine hand broke through the void shattering the empty space like fragile mirror grass. Jagged cracks twisted hurtling in impossible directions. Shadows moved across the edges, stretching unnaturally as if the space itself were breathing. The hand tore through the air vertically and then three cloaked figures fell out. Their descending stomps breaking the silence of the croaked forest that surrounded them. They heaved heavily as they drew in breath. After a moment, they scanned their current surroundings. A forest of trees wrought with thick mist. The environment looked a bit familiar to them.

"I think we should be safe now" a female voice rose from one of the cloaked figures as the hood masking their features was pulled down.

A very ordinary female face greets us, the only distinct feature she could be addressed with was her unnaturally vibrant green hair. Her companions equally had ordinary appearance, both had equal black hair and eyes, the only differentiating point would be their builds. One was slightly muscular and particularly stout and the other was wiry but tall figure.

"I think we lucky enough to grab this box" the wiry one said in a surprisingly masculine voice. A wide grin plastered on his sunken face as he held a wooden box.

"YOU FUCK!" the female retorted. "You almost got us killed in there by taking that!" Anger clearly visible in her voice.

"Chill boss. Are we not alive?" The wiry one said waving the box in the air. "I think we hit the jackpot with ...….

As he nigh finished his sentence, the sound of shattering glass resounded through the silent forest and then a blinding purple light.

"shit! I thought you said they couldn't crossover to this side Litt?" the silent stout one finally questioned the wiry one who was apparently called Litt in a horse voice.

"Yes, that's the word out there." Litt replied, "On normal occasions they wouldn't pursue for this little amount of serum. I ... I think we might have nabbed something real precious here this time huh Malc"

When he spoke these words his companions looked at him like he was dumb.

"I think that's pretty obvious" the green haired spoke. She quickly grabbed the wooden box from Litt's hand and grabbed a satchel from the shadows of her cloak and tossed both items to Malc.

"Here Malc, take this back to the hideout" she ordered "you are fastest among us with your ability. Litt and I will hold it back for a while till you are a safe distance, then we will follow."

Malc who had just been handed the box and satchel held it tightly against his and without a word disappeared into the forest of dense without question to the decision made. It was Litt who had the expression of wanting to say something but decided not to.

"I hope you are not appalled by my decision. It is by all means your fault we are in this predicament." She said turning her attention to rift. The creature had almost finished crossing over." Brace yourself."

Receiving no response from Litt, she turned to find herself to be all alone. Litt had abandoned her without a second thought.

"So much for loyalty" she said. She apparently wasn't too troubled. Litt after all was always a coward.

Her green hair began to glow with macabre light.

Something leapt from the shadows of the rift. A tall figure emerged wrapped in shadows itself, red and purple lights shone from the only place not covered, its eyes.

He stumbled out of the dense choking fog. The world on the outside was a bit disorienting for him. Sound warped and twisted his surroundings. Through the remnant haze, a silhouette rose, a massive structure - towering loomed overhead. Lights flickered in tall windows and shadows moved in the distant balconies.
