Chapter 1 - The Class That Shouldn’t Exist

On the day you turn eighteen, the world changes.

For some, it changes for the better.

For others… it ends.

The Awakening Hall of Gravenfall City was packed. Parents filled the marble balconies, whispering prayers to the System. Students stood below, palms sweating, staring at the towering crystal that decided their futures.

Warrior. Mage. Ranger. Priest.

The lucky few received high-ranking combat classes.

The unlucky… lived short lives.

Kael Varis stood near the back of the hall, hands in his pockets, pretending not to care.

He did care.

In this world, magic wasn't myth. It was law. Dungeons tore open the earth. Monsters prowled the wildlands. Cities survived because Awakened defended them.

Without a combat class, you were a liability.

One by one, names were called.

"Arden Holt — B-Rank Shield Knight!"

Cheers erupted.

"Lyra Vane — A-Rank Elementalist!"

Even louder applause.

Kael swallowed.

He had no famous bloodline. No legendary parent. Just himself.

Finally—

"Kael Varis."

The hall quieted.

Kael stepped forward. The Awakening Crystal pulsed faintly as he placed his palm against it.

Cold.

Not cool.

Cold.

The temperature in the hall dropped instantly. Frost crawled along the base of the crystal. The lights flickered.

A sound like distant whispers filled the air.

Then—

The crystal shattered.

Gasps exploded across the hall.

Black mist surged upward, forming ancient runes in the air.

A notification appeared before Kael's eyes.

Unique Class Acquired

[Necromancer – Ultra Rare | One of One]

Authority over death has acknowledged you.

Silence.

Then chaos.

"Necromancer?"

"That class was purged centuries ago!"

"Isn't that forbidden?"

Kael's heart pounded. He could still see the notification.

More words appeared.

Passive Skill Unlocked: Graveborn Command (Level 1)You may raise and command the dead.Raised units retain 120% of their original physical stats. No fixed limit. Scales with Mana and Willpower.

Hidden Trait Detected: Sovereign of the EndUndead under your control cannot rebel.

No fixed limit?

His breath hitched.

Every summoner in history had limits.

Every tamer had caps.

But this—

This was infinite.

The head instructor stepped forward, face pale. "Kael Varis… you will report to the Council immediately."

Kael barely heard him.

Because beyond the shattered crystal… he sensed something.

A presence.

Waiting.

That night, unable to sleep, Kael slipped beyond the city walls.

The graveyard overlooked Gravenfall, quiet beneath a silver moon.

He didn't know how he knew.

He just… knew.

Mana gathered in his veins like icy fire.

"Graveborn Command."

The ground trembled.

A skeletal hand burst from the earth.

Kael staggered back as soil collapsed inward. Bones pulled themselves free, reforming into a humanoid skeleton clad in rusted armor.

Its eye sockets ignited with pale blue flames.

Then it knelt.

A second hand erupted from another grave.

Then a third.

Kael's pulse raced as more graves stirred.

Ten.

Twenty.

Thirty.

All kneeling.

All silent.

All waiting for his command.

No strain. No backlash.

Just… obedience.

A laugh escaped his lips before he could stop it.

This wasn't a combat class.

This was an army.

Suddenly, the ground shook violently.

A roar thundered across the night.

From the distant forest, a corrupted ogre—likely escaped from a low-rank dungeon—charged toward the graveyard, drawn by the surge of death mana.

It stood three meters tall, muscles twisted, skin cracked with glowing veins.

A normal E-Rank Awakener would die instantly.

Kael stared at it.

Then at the legion kneeling before him.

His voice came out steadier than he felt.

"Rise."

Every skeleton stood in unison.

"Advance."

They moved like a tide of bone.

The ogre roared and smashed three apart with one swing—

But the broken bones crawled back together.

Reforming.

Unstoppable.

The skeletons swarmed its legs, climbing its body, clawing into corrupted flesh. The ogre thrashed violently, but numbers overwhelmed it.

Within minutes—

It fell.

Silence returned to the graveyard.

A new notification appeared.

You have defeated: Corrupted Ogre (E-Rank)Experience gained.Level Up!Level 2 Reached.

New Skill Unlocked: Corpse Detonation.

Kael stared at the ogre's massive corpse.

Slowly… he smiled.

If basic skeletons could do this at Level 1—

What would happen at Level 10?

Level 50?

Level 100?

His gaze lifted to the distant glow of Gravenfall City.

They feared him already.

They thought Necromancer meant curse.

Monster.

Taboo.

They had no idea.

Kael Varis wasn't going to become a villain.

He was going to become something far greater.

Not a king.

Not a hero.

But the ruler of the battlefield itself.

The Sovereign of the Silent Legion.

And this was only the beginning.
