Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 – Golden Heaven Descends

The battlefield had stopped being merely chaotic. It had become suffocating.

Vaelgor's ash burned steadily against the sky. Morveth's abyss chains reformed themselves from the wreckage of the last exchange. Both Half-Gold generals advanced together again, and behind them, thousands of demons surged forward, sensing the same thing Lin Tianren already understood with total clarity.

[Core Stability: 33%][Bloodline Sync: 89%]

He stood barely upright, burned and bleeding, the fox pressing close beside him, tails trembling but eyes steady despite everything the last hour had cost them both.

Retreat was impossible. Delay wasn't enough on its own. If the two generals recovered fully from the damage he'd already dealt them, the beast army's entire line would collapse under the renewed pressure, and everyone he'd fought beside tonight — Ravikron, the elders, the Beast Queen herself — would pay for that failure alongside him.

He closed his eyes, and for the first time since the Root Chamber first recognized his blood, he stopped suppressing it. He stopped compressing it into something manageable, something safe enough to hold without cracking.

He aligned with it instead.

"Fox."

The fox pressed its forehead against his chest, and contract resonance surged past anything he'd measured before — eighty-nine percent climbing straight through to a full hundred.

Perfect synchronization, for the first time since the contract had formed.

Their auras didn't merely overlap this time. They fused. The fox's illusion flame turned radiant gold. His own silver core brightened until it felt closer to a small sun than a spirit core should ever have felt. Flame and frost stopped opposing each other entirely, rotating instead around a new axis he hadn't consciously built, but recognized anyway — the same memory that had surged through him in the Root Chamber weeks ago, a figure standing alone between beasts and something darker than demons, a sky torn open above a burning battlefield.

Above him, a phantom sword formation manifested in the air, ancient and majestic in a way that had nothing to do with anything he'd trained toward deliberately. He recognized it the way you recognize something inherited rather than learned — a name he'd never dared fully invoke until this exact moment, because some part of him had understood, without being told, that invoking it would cost more than he currently had to spend.

"Golden Heaven Sword Scripture," he whispered. "First Manifestation."

The battlefield trembled at the words. Even the Beast Queen, suppressing three generals at once high above the clearing, looked sharply toward the light rising from the Southern Root.

Vaelgor roared and unleashed his Ash Tyrant technique at full strength — World Cremation Collapse, fire descending in a wall wide enough to consume the entire clearing. Morveth answered in the same instant, an Abyss King's Binding Realm locking gravity into place around them both, death sealed in from two directions at once.

Lin Tianren didn't move to escape either strike. He lifted his right hand instead, and the first sword formed above him — not steel, condensed sovereign intent given shape, burning gold against the darkened sky.

He swung it downward. The golden arc didn't explode outward the way every technique he'd used tonight had. It simply sliced, ash flames splitting cleanly in half, gravity chains disintegrating on contact rather than resisting it. The cut continued past both, reaching Vaelgor directly, Half-Gold armor shattering instantly under an edge that hadn't been meant for armor at all, but for something considerably older and more absolute than that.

Vaelgor's body divided along a perfect golden line.

Silence followed. The second Half-Gold general was dead before he understood what had killed him.

Morveth screamed at the sight of it, full abyss power erupting in response — a black gravitational sphere compressing everything around it inward, dense enough to visibly bend the light passing through it.

Lin Tianren's meridians cracked under the pressure the instant it touched him.

[Core Stability: 33% → 21%]

This exceeded anything Silver Rank should have been asked to withstand. His body began tearing from the inside, small fractures spreading through channels that had held steady through everything else tonight had thrown at them.

The fox howled beside him, its illusion flames solidifying into golden runes, and a second sword formed behind him in response to something neither of them had consciously called for.

Golden Heaven — Second Form. Heaven Axis Piercer.

He stepped forward, directly into the gravity collapse rather than away from it, each step shattering compressed air that should have crushed him outright. He thrust the second sword forward, and it became a beam of light rather than a blade, piercing straight through the gravitational core, through Morveth's chest, through whatever dark, corrupted heart powered the abyss technique from the inside.

For one breath, everything froze completely. Then the gravity sphere collapsed outward all at once, and Morveth disintegrated with it.

The second Half-Gold general was dead.

The technique didn't finish there. The golden formation still rotating above him released residual energy in a wide circular sweep, a third form triggering automatically, beyond anything he'd consciously directed.

Radiant Horizon Purge.

A three-hundred-meter wave of golden light expanded outward from where he stood. Every demon caught within its reach simply ceased — no explosion, no burning, no visible violence at all. Clean annihilation, the kind of ending that felt less like combat and more like something being erased from a record that had never wanted it there in the first place.

When the light faded, the ground around him lay empty. Two thousand demons, gone in a single unbroken breath.

He felt no triumph looking at it. Only a distant, exhausted horror at exactly how much power had just moved through a body that had no real business channeling it.

The swords vanished. The golden radiance faded from both him and the fox. It separated from him, staggering, its own strength spent almost entirely in the exchange.

Lin Tianren dropped to both knees, blood pouring freely from his mouth now, meridians fractured in a dozen places at once.

[Core Stability: 9%][Rank Status: Silver — On Verge of Forced Breakthrough]

The remnant beneath the Blackwood had warned him, days ago, in a cave he'd nearly forgotten in the chaos of tonight. Force it, and you will fracture. He hadn't forced the pill's integration. He'd forced this instead, invoking an inheritance his body wasn't remotely ready to carry at full weight, because the alternative had been watching the beast army's line collapse in front of him.

The power had exceeded his stage entirely. He'd killed two Half-Gold generals. He'd erased a wave of thousands. And his body could barely hold together around what he'd just channeled through it.

This wasn't the balance Bai Xinyue and Mu Yuhan had spent two weeks teaching him. This was something closer to the opposite — raw, absolute, and devastating in a way that frightened him more than any enemy he'd faced tonight had managed to.

For the first time since the battle began, the Beast Queen landed directly beside him, emerald aura enveloping the small crater where he knelt.

"You've stepped into Gold's shadow," she said, calm despite everything, placing one hand above his head. Stabilizing energy poured through her palm into his collapsing meridians — not healing him fully, only preventing the fracture from finishing what it had started.

Around them, the remaining demon army faltered, fear spreading visibly through their ranks. What they'd just witnessed hadn't been Silver Rank cultivation, however impressive. It had been sovereign intent awakening in full, and every demon on this field understood exactly what that meant for their odds tonight.

Far beyond the battlefield, something vast stirred in response to what had just happened. The Demon Lord's presence intensified sharply, attention that had been merely observing now sharpening into something considerably more focused.

He had felt it clearly, even from this distance. Golden Heaven Sword Scripture. Ancient. Dangerous. A true threat, finally surfacing in full after weeks of careful, patient watching.

The Beast Queen kept her hand steady above his head, watching the fractures in his meridians slow their spread rather than fully closing. Whatever he'd just become, she understood, kneeling beside him in the wreckage of a clearing that had held two Half-Gold generals only minutes earlier, was going to matter considerably more than tonight's battle.

The only question left was whether his body would survive long enough to find out what that actually meant.
