Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Intelligent Duck!

"They call me a beast tamer," he made something up, "so why am I here casting farming spells instead?"

"No one calls you that." With a quack, Fengyu heard this.

"Shut up, you're just here, outside they all call me Beat Tamer Fengyu!"

"My feathers rustle when you lie!" the duck quacked again.

"Your feathers rustle because I farted!" The young man looked back at the duck, grinning from ear to ear.

"Eugghhhh" the duck smelled a disgusting scent and covered its nose, "You're inhuman!"

"You're the duck, moron." The man chuckled as he waved his hands and spoke a difficult language –

"Small Cloud Rain Spell, Rain!" the gathered clouds became darker and drops of water fell, spirituality evident in each drop.

The plants on the ground quickly absorbed the water, and in just moments, the grass grew several centimetres, reaching the young man's ankles.

Seeing this, the duck became quiet and looked at the field, directly biting a bit of the grass.

When it saw the young man finished, it complained "This isn't tasty at all."

"That's because it's just a snack. Don't you already know the feed is over there?" the young man, exhausted, pointed to a large wooden feeding box on the side.

"Snacks are supposed to be tasty."

"You're tasty. Maybe I should cook you?" the man looked at the duck menacingly, licking his lips as he thought so, his hands even reaching out.

"QUAACK! QUAAACK! The master is crazy again! QUAAACK!" the duck quickly fled the young man, jumping and using its wings to fly over a short fence, joining a group of small and weak ducks.

"Quack?"

"Quack quack quack!"

The ducks seemed to discuss things, but their intelligence was too low for Fengyu to understand. It was like the babble of babies, although technically human, he couldn't understand them.

Hearing the incessant quacks, Fengyu was annoyed and walked away, casting the rain spell again.

Every morning, he would have to make this grass grow so these ducks could eat and play in it.

Because they were Spirited Ducks, they could eat the whole pasture by the end of the day.

He wouldn't deign to get spiritual grass, as it was a waste in many ways.

Rather than doing that, it's better to just cast a few extra spells.

Soon, he finished doing that and went to the central lake.

Another round of casting followed, this time, it was a different spell –

"Water Purifying Spell, Purify!"

The murky water became clearer and a black substance gathered above the water, hovering over the lake until it finally landed on the side.

He casted the spell several times to truly clear the lake.

These ducks would execrate in the lake and their paddles would stir it like a soup, making it murky very quick. If he didn't clear it, they would soon dislike the lake and stop drinking from it, which would force him to buy water tanks.

Once with purifying the lake, he took out a large barrel from his spatial bag on the side and moved his hands, using the Spiritual Control Technique to lift the black waste into it.

The waste filled a tenth of the barrel.

This waste could be sold per barrel for one spirit stone, a small income.

Seeing that he was focused on clearing things, the little duck from before came out again.

"Why aren't you with the others?" Fengyu asked casually while filling the feed boxes.

"You know why I'm not with them."

"In fact, I really don't know." Fengyu shook his head, he was really curious why among all the ducks, this one liked being around a human more than around a duck.

"They're not intelligent. We Spiritual Beasts don't recognize Wild Beasts as the same race, just as you humans don't recognize monkeys as the same race."

"We're not related to monkeys," Fengyu refuted, ignoring his education to win the argument.

"You look like them, you sometimes behave like them. Only because they're stupid you say you're not like them.

Anyways, it's the same for us.

Won't you sell them in the end anyways? What does it matter if I don't hang out with them?" the duck was very intelligent.

"Agh, you're a special mandarin duck, I've paid so much to get you and these ten female ducks, hoping you would mate and reproduce.

Now I know why no one wanted to buy you and why the price was so cheap.

You simply refuse to mate!"

"Refuse to mate? No, no, I don't refuse to mate, but I just haven't found the right one!

Hmph, what do you humans know? You switch your mates more than your nests!

We ducks only have one lifelong mate!

Since these Wild Beasts are stupid, why would I choose one of them?"

Fengyu shook his head. Finding another mandarin duck wouldn't be difficult, but in fact, this duck was extremely intelligent. One of its level would be impossible to find!

He opened the gate and allowed the ducks to enter his one-acre duck raising field.

"Quack!"

"Quack!"

"Quack quack!"

The ducks quacked and quickly entered the field, directly walking to the box and eating a bunch before walking all around.

Seeing this, he walked to the gate and was about to close it when he saw the mandarin duck still following behind him.

"Aren't you hungry?"

"I ate when you casted your rain spell, so I'm not hungry. Where are you going?"

"Just to the town and look for a buyer!

Ten Spiritual Ducks, all common kinds and female. I got them at four weeks age and sold them at two months, meaning they should reach adulthood in the next few days.

Once they can lay eggs, they will be bought by other merchants."

"Huh!" suddenly, just as he was about to step out, he saw something appear in front of him –

[You raised a Common Spiritual Duck to maturity, +1 Beast Origin Essence Strand!]
