Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Memory That Should Not Return

The clock outside struck eleven.

Arman stood in front of the basement stairs. His body felt cold, but he could not move.

Something was calling him from the darkness.

Slowly, he took one step forward.

Then another step.

The wooden stairs made a crying sound under his feet.

Creeeak…

Creeeak…

The air inside the basement was colder than the night outside.

Dust was floating slowly in the darkness.

"Why did I come here?" Arman whispered.

Suddenly, the red eyes appeared again.

Two glowing red eyes were watching him from the dark corner.

"You forgot everything," the woman's voice said softly.

"But the house did not forget you."

Arman's head started hurting again.

Images were coming back like broken dreams.

A small boy standing near this house.

Rain falling heavily.

Someone calling his name.

And a woman crying inside the basement.

"Stop…" Arman said, holding his head.

The red eyes moved closer.

"Do you remember now?" the voice asked.

Arman slowly said, "I… lived here before."

The woman laughed softly.

"Yes. But you were not human then."

The basement door suddenly closed behind him.

The clock outside struck eleven thirty.

Thirty minutes left before midnight.

And something inside the darkness was waking up.
