Chapter 1 - Rune

Rune's POV

Hell wasn't what they described it to be, it was more interesting and more fascinating to my eyes, my skin could feel the warmth of the entire dark hole cover me but I didn't understand why.

My eyes drifted far and near, I felt like I had lost my own soul but my spirit spoke as my soul. I turned to the left and to the right, I saw a city of brimstone and fire trailing across the sky, all bright.

I felt the nemesis call my name through the genesis of the current waves of heat crossing my skin. The weight of the fire burning through my layers made me regret every decision I had made before I slumped away. I felt.

Tears? Tears weren't enough, crying? It would go unnoticed every time I tried to let it out. Voices covered mine, although I felt the scent of rose water moving around the waves.

If anyone asked me to choose again, I would choose to be alive despite the beauty I saw. It was beauty in the depth of solemn ashes. Every sector had a different brimstone color. I didn't understand why. The land of the dead brought me fortune to the deities.

Hell wasn't the way I thought it would be, it was a city. A beautiful view with different colors of grace and authority, abstract to the point of difference. It made everything seems false.

It had twelve parts and twelve princes, I looked forward to meeting with the devil but he never seemed to appear out of the bloom. Rather I saw different spirits, deities and entities.

Charisma was the second name for the flames that burnt the saints, the furious and the blamed.

That accident, I blame the accident all over again. If I stayed at home, I wouldn't be here, somebody save me. I hoped and wished for.

"Rune! Rune!!" I heard the voice, a faint savior in my distress. I felt it call to me throughout the voices all loud. "Rune! Ave!"

I wasn't the type to move through with religion or even spirituality but I knew the word called ave. It reminded me of the catholic hymns and the ave maria I once knew within. "Ave! Ave!! Rune Ave!!"

My eyes were blank, I felt like something crossed my path, possibly took over my body. My hands shook a bit, my body followed me through.

The earthquake hit, it happened twice. Finally my eyes opened.

"Welcome Home." The creature smiled at me, I didn't believe hell would be my home, did someone swear an oath on my behalf without my permission?

"Rune rise up. Come hither." I heard a woman's voice, it was soft and faint, not rushed but it could tame. I knew this wasn't an ordinary spirit. I looked up and noticed it had the skin of a human, a pale skin of a human. A woman, tall and direct. Without a smile or a frown, just faced with no emotion.

I stood, I stood naked. I saw my own body standing before an entity I knew not, I stood naked before a triple headed goddess. A tall goddess with what looked like a sigil. I knew them from the history classes I once received.

She moved closer to me, surprisingly I wasn't afraid. Rather I stop erect waiting for the triple headed goddess to make a move, maybe it would wake me up. "Rune, do not be afraid. I am of help."

Help? Gladly. I would come with a tank if I could fill it up with that help. "Who are you? What are you? How did you find me?"

She smiled at first. She waited for a while, she said, "HEKATE."

I felt a shiver down my spine, the name gave me shivers I didn't understand. I stared at her for a while, I noticed it was difficult to stare into her eyes and so my eyes moved to her body.

I noticed a set of keys and a dog. I noticed a crow and a pathway drawn on the walls. It had four paths like a crossroad. I noticed the keys were three in number, the dog had a black color. I turned back to her, "Rune don't be afraid. Come closer to me. I have a lot to show you."

"I need clothes please."

"Clothes? What do you need them for?"

"To cover my nudity. I need them to cover my nudity. I'm naked."

"Are you? You are supposed to be."

She walked away from me, I thought I had offended her deeply so I apologized, "I'm sorry HEKATE, I didn't mean to upset you."

"You didn't. You just remind me of Lilith. A lot."

"Who's that? A male?" I asked.

"A female, Adam's first wife. The mother of demons and solemn rebellion. Independent and authoritative, a slave to none. Sexuality more than expanded, incubus and succubus related. Her. You sound like her."

"Is it wrong to sound like her?" I asked.

"No but it is highly oppositional to. Apparently, she's close to me. At least both of our devotees work with each other. Take a good look at this and tell me what you think." She approached me with a black book, it had a sigil and that alone made me realize something, this had a relation to witchcraft.

"What's your sector? HEKATE, what are you?"

"I'm the goddess of witchcraft and you can always find me at the crossroads. With the offerings of apples, garlic and even wine."

I stood before the goddess of witches. An advantage to me. A premium advantage. "I see your heart Rune, I see you clearly. What a thought."

"What? Teach me. Please." I pleaded.

"Maybe, maybe not. Pass the tests and we'll see how far you'll go with me.Take these keys and swallow them."

Keys? Why would I want to swallow keys? Either way I took them from her hands and I placed them in my mouth. They turned to melted ice cubes in my mouth. I felt a touch of power on my tongue.

She said, "Return to yourself. Till we meet again. Ave Rune, Ave."
