Chapter 6
The temperature in the room seemed to drop instantly.
Hallia quickly stepped away from the desk.
"I – I'm sorry, Alpha. I got lost while looking for the guest rooms."
Orion's russet whiskey eyes darkened.
His gaze moved from her face to the open book on the desk, then back to her.
" This wing is private," he said. His voice was calm, but dangerous.
Hallia nodded quickly.
" I didn't know."
For a moment Orion simply watched her. His wolf arise again. That same strange reaction.
Her scent filled the room.
Soft.
Warm.
Different from every other woman in the pack.
" You should leave," he said finally.
Hallia grabbed her basket.
" Yes, Alpha." She hurried toward the door. But as she passed him ___
His wolf reacted sharply. Both of them froze. The moment their skin touched, something strange happened.
A sudden warmth spread through Orion's chest. Like a balm soothes his wounded heart. His wolf whined softly inside him. "Warm, so warm." Amarok murmured happily.
Hallia felt it too. She jolt, her heartbeat quickened. She feels like being electrified. The Alpha quickly released her.
" Go and don't snoop around"he said.
" I'm sorry I was drawn to those symbols and drawings."
"And you decided to read, here in my table?"
"Ohh no, Alpha. It's alrtoeady on the table." Hallia responds.
"Go." He said gruffly. Hallia didn't need to be told twice. She rushed out of the room. But Orion remained standing there, staring at the door long after she was gone. Then he looked over the table, at the book she was enchanted to. He frowned at the book.
" I haven't seen this book before." He then closed it and set aside to read when he had enough time after he dealt with the remaining paper works.
He walked to the window and looked out to the lake. It calms him whenever he see his mothers garden, and realized it's been too long since he talked to her parents. He had been busy with work recently, ever since he gave his Beta time to enjoy matehood. He sighed another week before they comes back.
Something was changing, he said to himself. And he can't decide if he liked it.
"Well you've been more alert recently," he teases Amarok. He just huffed at him.
