Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - The weakest Defender

Chapter 9

Morning sunlight filtered through the training grounds.

Hallia carried a basket of towels toward the warriors when shouting suddenly erupted nearby,

" Pick it up."

A large warrior shoved the young omega boy, Leo, causing the basket of training cloth in his arms to fall.

The other wolves laughed.

"You call yourself pack?" one sneered.

Leo quickly knelt to gather the cloths.

"I'm sorry___"

Hallia stopped walking. Her stomach tightened.

The warrior kicked one of the cloths farther away.

" Maybe we should make the omega run laps again."

Leo looked exhausted already. Without thinkingHallia stepped forward.

" That's enough."

The warriors turned toward her. One of them scoffed.

" The human maid wants to speak?" Hallia met his gaze.

"He's already doing his job."

"And what if we say he's not."

Hallia stood her ground. " Then you're all bullies."

Silence spread across the training ground. Then someone chuckled.

"You've got courage, human."

Before the situation could escalate____ A powerful voice cut through the air.

" Enough."

Every wolf immediately straightened. Alpha Orion Rigel stepped onto the training field. His russet whiskey eyes swept across the scene. The warriors stepped back instantly.

"Training ends in five minutes,: Orion said coldly. No one argued. The warriors quickly dispersed.

Leo looked at Hallia with wide eyes.

" Thank you," he whispered.

Hallia smiled gently.

" No one deserves that."

She hugged him and they continue going to the quarters.

From the edge of the field, Orion watched the exchange quietly.

His wolf arise again. " She protects the weak."

Fascinating.

And on that they both agreed.
