Nayeon and Haerin reached the hospital without wasting time. Nayeon had completely forgotten about the Christmas party and only hoped that Ariyana would be alright.
They barged into the hospital room and saw Heeseung, Minju and as pale looking Ariyana on a bed.
Minju was relieved to see Haerin and Nayeon.
"You guys are here!" Minju exclaimed. "Ariyana isn't doing too well."
Nayeon looked over at her sick looking niece who was struggling to breathe properly.
"What kind of state is she in?" Nayeon asked.
"One where she may never recover..." Minju said in a miserable voice.
Haerin went over to console Minju while Nayeon said Hello to Heeseung.
"How are you, Heeseung? It has certainly been a while." Nayeon spoke.
Heeseung was glad to see her.
"Nayeon, it's great to see that you are well." He said. "It looks like you were somewhere before coming here."
"It's nothing so important at the moment... Our concern should be Ariyana right now." Nayeon said.
"Right." Heeseung replied.
Hours passed and Ariyana seemed to manage to breathe steadily. Heeseung left because he had work to do and Minju fell asleep beside Ariyana.
Haerin and Nayeon were awake and sitting on a chair. Nayeon checked her phone and saw over thirty missed calls from Dohyun and felt bad for making him worry to call her that much.
Haerin noticed Nayeon checking her phone with a concerned expression on her face.
"Sorry for interrupting whatever you were doing at that place..." Haerin said. "And I just realised that I have caused trouble for you by yelling your real name out instead of Nari. I'm sorry."
Nayeon saw posts on social media about Nari Na actually being her and sighed.
"That's fine, Haerin. I just want Ariyana to be alright." Nayeon said. "Family should always be there for one another, don't you think?"
"Yes, you are right."
Haerin and Nayeon suddenly stopped their conversation as soon as they heard Ariyana struggling to breathe and this time, it was worse than before. Minju abruptly woke up and called for a nurse.
The doctor and nurses told the three of them to wait outside while they tried to help Ariyana breathe. Minju was crying and Nayeon and Haerin made sure to console her.
"Don't worry, Minju." Nayeon spoke. "Ariyana is going to be alright!"
"I hope you're right!" Minju said.
An hour passed and they started to worry. Especially Minju.
"What is taking them so long? Is Ariyana okay?" Minju questioned herself. Minju suddenly looked at Haerin. "I am sorry for being jealous about you and Heeseung. I haven't been the best cousin, have I?"
Haerin smiled.
"No you certainly haven't. But I appreciate you for being honest."
Minju and Haerin hugged and Nayeon was happy to see them on good terms again.
At that exact moment, a nurse walked out of the room and she was looking happy.
"Ariyana will be alright." The nurse said.
Minju burst into happy tears.
"May we go see her?" She asked.
"Yes, of course." The nurse replied.
"Oh, thank goodness. I will tell Heeseung the good news." Haerin said.
Nayeon felt relieved to see Ariyana resting peacefully on the bed.
"Thank goodness you're alright, Ariyana." Nayeon said happily.
Minju hugged her daughter.
"Ariyana! You're okay!" Minju exclaimed.
"Yes, I am mom!" Ariyana said. "I'm no longer struggling to breathe."
"It must have been so scary for you, dear." Minju said.
"Yes, mom. It really was!" Ariyana replied.
"We're glad to see that you're okay." Haerin said.
Sometime later, Nayeon said that she would be leaving as she had other things to do. Haerin apologised for her sudden interruption once more and Nayeon left the room. She just stepped outside the hospital, the time was past four in the morning. She had spent a lot of time at the hospital. Was she to go back to Dohyun or not. Nayeon sighed. "Why would I even think about returning to him after I embarrassed him like that in front of everybody yesterday? He must be angry at me and only tried calling to scold me."
Nayeon took it that Dohyun was furious at her for embarrassing him and took a cab back to her house miserably. She then collapsed on her bed feeling tired and fell asleep. That night, she dreamed about all the moments Dohyun and her shared that lasted for a very short time. Was less than a year enough for her to fall in love with Dohyun? It seemed like it.
