The day that Nayeon had been nervous for had arrived. She was much more anxious than she was during the dinner with Dohyun and Leah's family because there would be more people with potentially higher status.
Nayeon made sure to give Minju a call and ask her about Ariyana's wellbeing. Minju told her that Ariyana's condition was still all the same and Nayeon worried. Immediately after speaking with Minju, she called Haerin.
"Haerin, how are you?" Nayeon asked.
"I should be the one asking you that... Nari Na..." Haerin responded. "What a tricky job that is, pretending to be someone's fiancée."
Nayeon sighed.
"Don't worry, Haerin. Everything is well. Has Minju talked to you?"
"Yes. She congratulated Heeseung and I, although, she didn't sound very glad."
"Oh, maybe she's still upset."
"Well, I did not know that she liked Heeseung. She would have said something at least! And now she seems to be acting hostile towards me for that reason."
"There is no need to start a war between cousins over a guy... Minju will just have to accept the fact that Heeseung and you are together and nothing can change that."
"Well, at least you understand, Nayeon."
"Of course. Now it's my turn to be the listener and you are the speaker. It used to be the opposite during those times..."
Nayeon was certain that she could hear a happy Haerin gleaming in happiness after she had said that.
"Oh, Nayeon... You have matured so much."
"Thank you, Haerin. For everything."
"How is Ariyana's condition?"
"Not so good..."
"Oh...I will try and call Minju."
Nayeon hung up and went to see Dohyun who was getting ready for the Christmas party in the evening as well.
Dohyun was glad to see her.
"Nayeon, what brings you here?" He asked. Nayeon noticed he was always happy to be around her nowadays. She was too.
"Just came to see how you are prepping for tonight." Nayeon replied.
"I still have a lot to do. I will need help."
"Sure. Once I am done I will help you."
"Then I'll give you a hand so that we could finish this fast."
"Thank you."
Nayeon and Dohyun quickly got to work and finished really soon with helping Dohyun prep. Then Dohyun helped Nayeon prep which took longer than he anticipated.
Finally, when they finished, they realised that the time of the Christmas party was already near and they started rushing to get ready.
Once they finished, they headed to Dohyun's parent's villa as soon as they could.
Thankfully, they arrived just in time to not miss anything important.
They were immediately received by Mrs Lee.
"Dohyun!" She began. "I thought you weren't going to make it! What took so long? Was Nari holding you back?"
Dohyun embraced his mom.
"It wasn't Nari's fault that we were late, mom. I just overslept, that's all." Dohyun replied. He lied to prevent Mrs Lee from blaming Nayeon.
"I understand. But Nari should have woken you up!" Mrs Lee said.
"I'm sorry, Mrs Lee." Nayeon began. "But it's great to see you again."
Mrs Lee ignored Nari and took Dohyun into the main hall where the party was happening in. Nayeon felt really offended. But she wasn't actually Dohyun's fiancée after all.
Before Nayeon went into the main hall to join the gathering, she made sure to tell Haerin where she was and sent her the location. Just in case anything urgent were to happen.
When she joined the party she felt so inferior because everyone was lavishly and expensively dressed and seemed like they came from luxurious homes. Though Nayeon was lavishly dressed as well, she didn't come from a rich home. She felt so irritated when she saw Dohyun speaking with Leah and Leah looked as happy as ever. She was about to give him a piece of her mind until someone grabbed her shoulder.
Nayeon turned around to see Savannah.
"Hello, Nari." She began. "We meet again." She said.
Nayeon was quite startled to see her.
"Oh, Savannah. It's great to see you here." Nayeon said.
"Yes, yes. I didn't think we would meet so soon, Nayeo-"
There was a sudden silence between them. Did Savannah just say her actual name instead of Nari? Nayeon was taken aback and Savannah noticed.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Nari... But does the name Nayeon sound familiar to you? You wouldn't be her by any chance, right?"
Nayeon gulped.
Savannah chuckled.
"I knew it. Your resemblance couldn't just be a coincidence. Do you think that a simple hair job and cosmetics would disguise you well? You can fool the others but not me."
Nayeon didn't say anything. She was in a silent panic. Would Savannah reveal her secret to everyone?
Savannah smiled.
"Don't worry... Nari... You're secret is safe with me."
Savannah then left her and Nayeon felt a little relieved. She did change her hair and some other touches but nothing really happened to her face. Her face was still very much the Nayeon Park that people knew. She suddenly felt like running away or hiding. But unfortunately for her, she heard her fake name being called out from a microphone and saw Dohyun on an elevated platform. He had to swallow all her nervousness and approach Dohyun. As she stood next to Dohyun, she felt all eyes on her. Especially from Leah and Dohyun's parent's. Leah herself was glaring at her with hate. It annoyed Nayeon that Dohyun didn't tell her anything about a surprise speech. "This is my fiancée everyone. Nari Na. The person I plan to wed as soon as I become the official proprietor of Amazing Water." Dohyun said and an applause followed. Dohyun suddenly kept the microphone and came closer to Nayeon's ear and whispered, "I love you, Nayeon." Nayeon felt her heart leap and more butterflies than she could have in her stomach. Dohyun seemed like he was about to kiss her but suddenly, someone barged in and was yelling. Everyone saw an unfamiliar woman and did not know who she was, but Nayeon did. She was yelling her name in fact.
"Nayeon! Nayeon!" It was Haerin who was yelling her name. "Ariyana's condition has worsened to the point where she might die!"
Nayeon felt a flash of fear through her body and mindlessly ran towards Haerin in the midst of everybody watching them.
"What did you say happened to Ariyana!?" Nayeon was anxious as ever.
"She may die. Minju said so." Haerin said.
People were whispering.
"I thought her name was Nari Na." People said.
Leah came to Nayeon furiously and yelled at her. "I knew you were familiar! This is the girl who tried to kill me! Mr and Mrs Lee, would you truly let your son marry this kind of girl? She is not even from a rich background!"
Everyone agreed. "We cannot let Dohyun marry this girl..." People spoke.
Nayeon didn't care about what people said at all at that moment. She took one look at Dohyun's worried face and then fled with Haerin out of the villa.
She and Haerin went straight to the hospital.
