Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: A Dangerous Curiosity

The auditorium slowly emptied after the orientation ended.

Students gathered in small groups, their voices buzzing with excitement about the unexpected guest who had appeared above them like a shadow over the entire academy.

Aria walked through the hallway quietly, keeping her pace steady.

But her thoughts were moving far faster.

Viren Global Holdings.

In her previous life, that company had dominated entire industries.

Its leader was known for something few businessmen could truly claim.

He never lost.

Deals that seemed impossible suddenly bent in his favor.

Corporate wars ended with his competitors ruined.

Entire companies collapsed after underestimating him.

His name had circulated through every high-level meeting her late husband attended.

Sometimes spoken with admiration.

Sometimes with fear.

And now he had appeared here.

Three years earlier than when she had first heard about him.

Aria stepped outside into the courtyard of the academy.

The rain had stopped, leaving the stone pathways glistening under soft sunlight.

Students were still discussing him.

"Did you see him?"

"That was insane…"

"I can't believe he came here."

"I heard he rarely appears in public."

Someone whispered his name quietly.

But the wind carried the words away before Aria could fully hear them.

She stopped near a tall oak tree at the edge of the courtyard.

For the first time since the orientation began, she allowed herself to breathe slowly.

Because something about that moment upstairs had unsettled her.

When his eyes met hers…

It hadn't felt like a casual glance.

It had felt like being studied.

Analyzed.

And that was dangerous.

Because men like him didn't look at people without reason.

Aria exhaled slowly.

She had entered the academy to gain power quietly.

To prepare for the revenge she had been denied in her previous life.

But if someone like that man began paying attention to her…

Everything could become far more complicated.

Inside the academy's private observation lounge, the atmosphere was calm and quiet.

Large glass windows overlooked the entire courtyard.

From here, the academy looked almost peaceful.

The man who had watched the orientation stood near the window.

One hand rested casually in his pocket.

The other held a slim tablet displaying detailed evaluation reports.

Behind him, the academy director spoke carefully.

"We're honored that you took the time to visit today."

The man did not respond immediately.

His eyes moved slowly across the courtyard below.

Students walked in small groups, talking and laughing.

Most of them looked exactly like what they were.

Privileged heirs preparing to inherit their families' companies.

But one figure stood slightly apart from the rest.

A girl with long dark hair.

Standing quietly beneath a tree.

His gaze rested on her.

Aria Valen.

The academy director cleared his throat gently.

"Was there something specific you were looking for?"

Finally, the man spoke.

"Potential."

His voice was calm.

Low.

Controlled.

The director nodded.

"Our academy produces some of the best young business leaders in the country."

The man glanced briefly at the tablet again.

"Most of them rely on the same predictable strategies."

The director hesitated.

"Predictable?"

"Yes."

He turned the screen slightly, showing the evaluation data.

"Conservative financial recovery models."

"Traditional expansion frameworks."

"Standard negotiation patterns."

The director adjusted his glasses.

"Well… those are considered safe approaches."

"They're also boring."

The man's tone remained casual.

But his eyes moved back to the courtyard again.

To Aria.

The director followed his gaze.

"Oh," he said.

"Miss Valen."

"You know her?"

"She's Adrian Valen's daughter."

The man's expression didn't change.

But his eyes sharpened slightly.

"The same Adrian Valen who owns Valen Industries?"

"Yes."

The director smiled politely.

"She performed very well in the evaluation."

The man tilted his head slightly.

"Very well?"

"Top three scores."

That caught his attention.

The director continued.

"Her strategic simulation was particularly impressive."

The man tapped the tablet once.

The data appeared again.

He studied it carefully.

Aggressive restructuring.

Targeted acquisitions.

Rapid market stabilization.

The strategy wasn't reckless.

It was calculated.

And unusually ruthless for someone her age.

Most candidates protected company assets.

She weaponized them.

His gaze drifted back to the courtyard.

Aria was walking again now.

Calm.

Unhurried.

Completely unaware she was being watched.

Or perhaps not unaware.

Something about her posture suggested awareness.

Control.

He spoke again.

"How old is she?"

"Twenty."

The man was silent for a moment.

Then he said quietly,

"She thinks like someone much older."

The director chuckled politely.

"Perhaps she inherited her father's instincts."

But the man didn't respond.

Because he didn't believe that.

What he had seen during the interview wasn't simple intelligence.

It was experience.

The kind of thinking people developed after surviving real losses.

Real conflicts.

Real betrayal.

That kind of mindset didn't appear naturally in sheltered heirs.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"Interesting," he murmured.

Back in the courtyard, Aria began walking toward the academy gate.

Her first day had given her more information than she expected.

But she also knew something important.

If she stayed too long today, people would begin approaching her.

Networking.

Introducing themselves.

Building alliances.

She wasn't ready for that yet.

Her revenge required patience.

She reached the gate and stepped onto the sidewalk outside.

But as she walked toward the waiting Valen car, she felt something strange.

A sensation she had learned to trust during the darkest years of her previous life.

The feeling of being watched.

Her steps slowed slightly.

Without looking back, she scanned her surroundings.

Across the street stood a tall glass building connected to the academy through a private bridge.

Executive offices.

Observation rooms.

Her eyes lifted briefly toward the highest window.

And for a moment—

She saw him.

High above the courtyard.

Standing perfectly still.

Watching.

Even from this distance, she could feel the weight of his gaze.

Aria looked away immediately and continued walking.

But her mind was already racing.

Because that man wasn't just curious.

He was analyzing her.

The same way she was analyzing her enemies.

Inside the observation lounge, the man watched her disappear through the academy gate.

A faint smile touched his lips.

"Director."

"Yes?"

"Send me her full file."

"Miss Valen's?"

"Yes."

The director hesitated only briefly before nodding.

"Of course."

The man turned away from the window.

His mind was already forming questions.

Why did Adrian Valen's daughter think like a corporate war strategist?

Why did her evaluation patterns resemble someone who had already fought through business collapse scenarios?

And why—

When their eyes met—

Did she look completely unafraid?

He slipped his hands into his pockets and walked toward the door.

"Something about that girl," he said quietly,

"doesn't match her story."

And for the first time in a very long time—

He felt something he rarely experienced.

Curiosity.

Meanwhile, Aria sat silently in the backseat of the Valen car as it carried her away from the academy.

Her reflection stared back at her in the window.

Calm.

Cold.

Focused.

She had returned to the past to destroy the people who ruined her life.

But the board was changing faster than she expected.

Because now…

One of the most powerful men in the city had begun watching her.

And in the world of corporate power—

Attention from someone like him could either become the greatest advantage…

Or the most dangerous threat.
