Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The File

Night settled slowly over the city.

From the top floor of Viren Global Holdings' headquarters, the skyline stretched endlessly beneath a sea of glittering lights. Traffic flowed like silver rivers through the streets, and distant skyscrapers pierced the darkness like silent sentinels.

Inside the executive office, the atmosphere was quiet.

Controlled.

The office itself reflected the personality of its owner—minimalist, precise, and powerful without unnecessary display. Dark wood shelves lined one wall, holding carefully selected books and confidential reports. A long glass desk stood near the window, overlooking the entire financial district.

Behind it sat the man whose presence alone could shift the direction of billion-dollar negotiations.

He leaned back slightly in his chair, one hand resting against the armrest while the other turned a page inside a thin folder.

The name printed at the top of the first page was simple.

Aria Valen.

The city lights reflected faintly in his dark eyes as he continued reading.

Age: 20

Education: Private tutoring, elite preparatory school

Family: Adrian Valen — CEO of Valen Industries

Nothing unusual at first glance.

The kind of background shared by many heirs who passed through the academy every year.

But the man's gaze lingered on the next section.

Entrance Evaluation Performance.

Simulation Score: Top 3%

Strategic Assessment: Exceptional decision efficiency

Evaluator Notes: Unusually decisive under pressure

His finger tapped lightly against the paper.

"Unusually decisive."

That description didn't belong to someone inexperienced.

He had seen thousands of candidates in his career.

Most of them hesitated when faced with complex corporate simulations.

They overanalyzed.

They chose safe options.

Aria Valen had done the opposite.

She had taken control of the crisis scenario like someone who had already watched a company collapse before.

The office door opened quietly.

An assistant stepped inside.

"Sir."

Without looking up, the man spoke.

"You verified the file?"

"Yes."

"Anything unusual?"

The assistant hesitated slightly.

"Not officially."

That answer made him glance up.

"Explain."

The assistant approached the desk and placed a second document beside the first.

"Her academic history is consistent. Her teachers describe her as intelligent but reserved."

The man scanned the page quickly.

"Reserved."

"Yes."

"Any leadership roles?"

"None."

"No competitive programs?"

"No."

He leaned back slightly.

That didn't match the performance he had witnessed.

The assistant continued.

"However… there is something odd."

The man waited.

"According to most records, Miss Valen showed little interest in business until very recently."

"How recent?"

"Less than two months."

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"Two months ago she suddenly decides to enter a high-level business academy and scores among the top candidates."

The assistant nodded.

"Yes."

Silence filled the office.

The man closed the folder slowly.

"People rarely change their thinking patterns that quickly," he said.

The assistant nodded carefully.

"Unless something happened."

Exactly.

He stood and walked toward the massive window overlooking the city.

The reflection of the skyline shimmered across the glass.

His mind replayed the moment in the auditorium earlier that day.

The sea of students looking upward in awe.

And the one girl who had simply watched him calmly.

Not impressed.

Not intimidated.

Observing.

Almost like she was measuring him the same way he had been measuring her.

His lips curved slightly.

"Aria Valen."

The assistant spoke again.

"There is one more thing."

"Yes?"

"She declined a private introduction opportunity."

The man turned slightly.

"Explain."

"After the orientation today, several top candidates were invited to meet with the academy's visiting investors."

"And she refused?"

"Yes."

That was interesting.

Most students would have fought for that chance.

Networking with powerful executives was exactly why families sent their children to the academy.

But she had walked away.

Which meant one of two things.

Either she lacked ambition…

Or she had a different strategy entirely.

The man looked back at the file again.

A faint smile appeared.

"Schedule something for tomorrow."

The assistant blinked.

"With Miss Valen?"

"Yes."

"What kind of meeting?"

He picked up the folder again and slipped it into a drawer.

"Something… accidental."

The next morning, the academy courtyard was lively with students discussing their first official classes.

Aria walked across the stone pathway calmly, a tablet tucked under her arm.

Her mind was focused on the academy schedule.

Corporate law.

Strategic finance.

Market influence theory.

Exactly the kind of knowledge she had once been denied.

A voice suddenly called out behind her.

"Miss Valen."

Aria stopped.

She turned slowly.

A man in a tailored suit approached her.

He looked like one of the academy's administrative staff.

"Yes?"

"I was asked to deliver this to you."

He handed her a small envelope.

Aria accepted it cautiously.

"From whom?"

The man gave a polite smile.

"A visiting investor."

Then he walked away.

Aria frowned slightly and opened the envelope.

Inside was a single card.

No name.

No explanation.

Only a simple printed message.

Observation Room — 3rd Floor

Private Discussion Invitation

Aria stared at the card for several seconds.

Then she folded it slowly and slipped it back into the envelope.

Her instincts were already alert.

This didn't feel random.

Somewhere inside the academy building, someone was watching the courtyard again.

High above, behind a wall of glass, the same man stood in silence.

His eyes followed Aria as she placed the envelope into her bag.

He wondered what she would do next.

Ignore it?

Investigate it?

Reject it?

People revealed their true instincts when faced with unexpected invitations.

Below, Aria resumed walking.

But instead of heading toward her classroom…

She turned toward the main staircase.

Her expression remained calm.

Controlled.

Yet her mind was already analyzing the situation.

Someone powerful had just invited her to a private meeting.

And in the world she was preparing to dominate…

Private meetings rarely happened by accident.

Aria stepped onto the staircase leading upward.

Her silver eyes darkened slightly.

Because she already suspected who might be waiting for her.

And if she was right

Then the most dangerous man in the city had just made the first move.
