Chapter 10 - Episode 10: “The Line They Shouldn’t Cross”

After the scandal…

nothing broke completely.

But everything started to shift slowly.

Like a crack in glass that keeps spreading silently.

🌧️ Arjun – Emotional Exhaustion

Arjun Mehta stopped reacting.

Not because he became strong.

But because he became tired of fighting shadows.

He walked through campus like a ghost.

No anger.

No hope.

Just routine.

Even the bullying reduced now.

Not because they respected him.

But because they feared the "connection" with Anaya Verma.

And that was worse.

Because now he wasn't hated openly.

He was avoided carefully.

🖤 Anaya – Watching from Distance

Anaya didn't approach him after the assembly.

Not because she didn't want to.

But because she didn't know how anymore.

She saw him sometimes.

Library.

Corridor.

Garden bench.

Always alone.

Always quiet.

And every time she saw him…

something inside her tightened.

Not guilt.

Not sympathy.

Something deeper.

🌧️ The First Near Collapse Moment

That afternoon, Arjun was leaving the library.

He hadn't eaten properly.

Hadn't slept properly.

Hadn't spoken properly.

He reached the staircase.

And suddenly—

his vision blurred slightly.

He stopped.

Held the railing.

But his grip loosened.

A moment of weakness.

Small.

Silent.

Dangerous.

And then—

a hand grabbed his arm.

🌸 Anaya Saves Without Thinking

Anaya Verma.

She stood beside him.

Close.

Too close.

"Hey," she said quickly. "Look at me."

Arjun blinked.

Confused.

Tired.

"I'm fine," he whispered.

But his body said otherwise.

Anaya tightened her grip slightly.

"You're not fine."

No arrogance.

No distance.

Just truth.

Arjun tried to step back.

But he couldn't.

His strength gave out for a second.

And he leaned slightly forward.

🖤 The Dangerous Proximity

Silence.

Too close.

Too real.

Anaya didn't let go immediately.

Neither did he pull away fully.

For a moment…

there was no rich girl.

No poor boy.

No class difference.

Just two exhausted people standing too close in silence.

Then—

Arjun stepped back suddenly.

Like reality hit him.

"I'm okay," he said again.

But his voice was weaker now.

Anaya looked at him.

Long pause.

Then quietly:

"You should stop lying like that."

That line hit harder than anything else.

🌧️ The Emotional Crack

Arjun laughed faintly.

Not happy.

Not mocking.

Just… broken.

"Why do you care?" he asked softly.

Anaya didn't answer immediately.

Because she didn't have a logical answer.

Then she said:

"I don't know."

Honest again.

Dangerous again.

Arjun looked away.

"That's the problem."

Silence.

🌸 The Almost Confession

Anaya took a small breath.

Then said:

"You're getting affected too much."

Arjun replied quietly:

"Because I'm still here."

Pause.

Then softer:

"And I don't know why I'm still here."

That statement… changed something.

Anaya looked at him properly.

For the first time…

she didn't see a "scholarship student."

She saw someone who was slowly breaking.

And it scared her.

🖤 The Line They Don't Notice Crossing

A group of students passed nearby.

They saw them standing close.

They didn't hear the conversation.

They didn't know context.

But they smiled.

And whispered:

"Again together."

Arjun heard it.

Anaya heard it.

And neither corrected them.

Not because it was true.

But because correcting it felt useless now.

🌧️ Night – Arjun Alone

Arjun sat on his bed.

Head down.

Tired.

He whispered:

"I shouldn't be near her."

Pause.

Then softer:

"But when she leaves… everything feels worse."

And that scared him.

Because dependence was forming.

Slowly.

Quietly.

Dangerously.

🌸 Night – Anaya Alone

Anaya stood in her room.

Lights dim.

Silence heavy.

Her hand still remembered holding his arm.

Too long.

Too natural.

Too unplanned.

She whispered:

"Why did I stop him like that?"

Pause.

Then lower:

"Why did I not let go immediately?"

She closed her eyes.

But his face stayed.

Not as a stranger.

But as someone becoming… unavoidable.

And for the first time…

she didn't deny it completely.
