Chapter One: A Message at Midnight
The night was unnaturally still, as if the entire city had decided to hold its breath. Layla sat on the edge of the bed, staring at her phone screen as it suddenly lit up at exactly 12:17 AM.An unknown number… just one message:
"He is not who you think he is."
The words froze in her eyes, echoing endlessly in her mind. Slowly, she turned her gaze toward Karim, sleeping peacefully beside her. His features were calm, his breathing steady—as if he carried no secrets at all.
"Maybe it's just a joke…" she whispered to herself, but her heart didn't believe it.
She tried to ignore it, placed the phone aside, and closed her eyes. But sleep refused to come. The thought grew… then turned into doubt… then into fear.
Slowly, she reached for Karim's phone, as if committing a crime. She hesitated for a moment, then took it.It unlocked easily—there was no password.
She smiled faintly, trying to reassure herself. "If he had something to hide, he wouldn't leave it like this…"
But the moment she opened his contacts, her breath caught. She searched for her name… "Layla."
It wasn't there.
Instead, she found a strange name:"Electric Company"
Her fingers froze. She tapped it…A conversation appeared.
Love messages.Warm words.Promises… but none of them were for her.
It felt like the ground disappeared beneath her feet. She slowly lifted her head and looked at Karim, still asleep.
"Who are you?" she whispered, as if seeing him for the first time.
Suddenly…The phone vibrated in her hand.
A new message arrived.
From the same unknown number:"This is just the beginning."
