Chapter 39 - That's Where You're Wrong

"Domain"

After Alex uttered the word, a semi-invisible dome with a 10 meter diameter exploded out of Alex, but nothing seem to happen... Yet.

A few minutes later of seeing if he could support this new spell of his did he finally move and his domain followed him with him at the very center and after a few more minutes of walking he finally saw his first prey... A wolf!

Alex saw this wolf still eating its freshly caught deer, so he slowly back away while this wolf is still eating alone, wolves always hunt in packs from the books and documentary shows he watched as a kid and he doesn't want to find out if this is true or not the hard way.

And just like the good old way of being found out, *SNAP*. Alex stepped on a branch and alerted the wolf, it left its prey to check what made the sound but when it got to where the sound came from, nothing was there.

Alex is nowhere to be seen so the wolf just went back to eating, little did it know that Alex is there, just invisible, the domain Alex made curved the light around him to appear like he isn't there, it also helped that the wolf entered the domain so Alex's smell could be disguised.

These are 2 of the current application Alex can do inside his domain, he is still in the testing phase and trying to figure out what this domain could do.

The way Alex knew how to do it is because his mother's memories are starting to kick in, and this is the 1st technique he learned from it. Base on the memories he saw of his mother doing it, this is a auxiliary-type spell that could be used offensively or defensively.

It's like your own personal sandbox where everything is possible as long as you have the mana to provide the happenings inside the spell. And since Alex is literally made up of mana, he didn't have any trouble activating the spell.

But there is still a backlash to it as the first time hindered his movements, he couldn't move at all like a statue, even breathing became a chore for him as his muscles are contracting because of the sudden use of mana from his body.

The reason why he is only walking is that its so hard to even move a muscle as he is still not used to this kind of large scale mana manipulation, Elijah advised Alex to take it easy and learn to use simple spells first to get accustomed to using mana but Alex is stubborn and kept trying.

He's reasoning is that, "There's a reason why this is the first technique shown to me, and we also saw mom using the same spell, if I could learn how to utilize this spell to its maximum we could skip the tutorial part."

Elijah sighed at Alex and said, "You see, that's where you're wrong, yes this spell is powerful but you don't even know the basics of how the hell mana works in this world, and besides, in any game, if you skip the tutorial part you'll never know how things work and even if you did, it would take a lot of time." He argued. The others also agreed to this at it might be dangerous to try something they have no knowledge of.

Alex listened to them and trained how to circulate mana in his body first and when he got a good feel of how it works, he tried again, and just like Elijah said, it's a lot easier now.

At least after his training he could breath normally without gasping but still couldn't move, so he spent the last week just trying to circulate his mana better and more efficiently.

Now that the wolf is eating again, Alex didn't waste anytime and the mana inside his domain started condensing into a singular point into a fist size ball, sweat beads are forming on his forehead signifying how much concentration is being poured into this one spell.

After 10 seconds of condensing mana, Alex finally chanted the name of the spell, "Railgun!" And the highly condensed mana shot past the wolf's head making it dropped to the ground lifeless.

-Somewhere else in the forest-

Elijah is still blitzing through the trees, he passed by a few of the other apprentice and said "Hi!" without stopping leaving them confused on who said it.

Currently he has 2 deers and 4 rabbits and while blitzing through the trees, "WOAH!!!" a flash of blue line nearly hit him, "What was that, it nearly hit me!" He said as he completely stopped on his tracks and changed directions following the source of the blue light.

-Back to Alex-

Alex walked closer to the wolf so the domain covered it as well and Alex tried to pick up the wolf but its too tiring and he won't be able to hunt anymore if he tried to carry it, he already wasted 4 hours just finding a place to activate the domain.

And when he was just about to successfully pick the dead wolf, a flash of purple light went inside his domain, "Alex?"
