Chapter 27: New Job
---Audience Reaction---
Raiken noticed that while his channel was growing, the number of fans willing to donate had decreased. This meant his content had become boring, and people were no longer interested in supporting him financially.
He had saved up a total of 360,135 stars, which was a lot, but his goal was to save at least 10 million. Ideally, he wanted to keep saving until a critical moment for example he was stuck in the situation where they are surrounded, before deciding to buy anything.
But now, the decrease of donation alarmed Raiken. Were people bored watching him work behind the scenes? It might be true. If he were the audience, he would only donate to or support a creator he genuinely liked or doing something interesting.
Suddenly, he remembered something. The past features of the livestreaming app on the past.
"System, is there a membership function?" asked Raiken.
[Yes, Host. There is a membership function, but it will be unlocked at Level 3.]
[Please increase your level first to access the membership feature.]
"Level 3? How much does it take to upgrade to the next level?" asked Raiken.
[It takes 500,000 stars to increase to the next level.]
"Oh, that's not far from my current points," replied Raiken. "Then how much does it take to go from Level 3 to Level 4?"
[It takes 3,000,000 stars.]
"What? Why does the required amount increased so much?" asked Raiken. "Then how much to go from Level 4 to Level 5?"
[Access denied. Please increase your level first to unlock the next requirement.]
A/N: The maximum level is Level 8. I'm copying the structure from one of the popular livestreaming apps in our current world.
---Everyone Get A Job---
The Uchiha Clan took Raiken suggestion very seriously—especially the elders. The next day everyone without a formal job, including housewives, was suddenly summoned by the clan leader.
Though confused, they still came, gathering at the Naka Shrine. There, they found the clan leader and several elders seated at the front, clearly waiting for all of them to come.
At exactly 9 a.m., the clan leader, Hikaku, stepped forward.
"Thank you for coming," he began, his voice louder. "The reason I called you here is to inform you that, from this day forward, all of you will officially be absorbed into the Konoha Military Police Force."
A stunned silence fell over them. For a moment, it was so quiet that even the sound of a pin dropping could have been heard.
Eventually, the silence broke.
"But Clan Leader, I barely have a few free hours a day," one of the mothers spoke hesitantly.
"Yes, exactly. Between housework and caring for the children, our time is already stretched thin," added another.
Hikaku let their voices fill the room for a moment before raising his hand. "Silence."
The room fell quiet once again.
"I understand your concerns," he said, his tone calm. "But you won't be expected to work like your husbands. Even half an hour a day is enough and you'll receive the same salary as them. Some of you might receive, even more Salary than your husband."
A look of disbelief ran through the crowd.
"What? Seriously?" one woman asked, eyes wide.
"Yes," Hikaku confirmed. "Your pay will be based on your Sharingan level. Those without it will receive a genin salary. One tomoe earns a chūnin salary. Two tomoe or more will be paid at jōnin level."
The women's eyes lit up almost instantly.
One thing about Uchiha women, before puberty, many were deeply emotional, awakening their Sharingan early. Most had at least two tomoe by adulthood, which meant they would qualify for jōnin salaries.
"Clan Leader, is this really true?" another woman asked, still in disbelief.
"Yes. But I must ask you not to share this news, especially not with anyone outside our clan," Hikaku warned.
"Why not?" someone asked, confused.
"Because I recently uncovered a clause in an old agreement made by the Second Hokage. It promises that any Uchiha who serves in the Military Police Force will be paid directly by Konoha," Hikaku explained. "That's why I want you to become formal staff there, even if you only come in for ten minutes a day, it still counts as work. But if this news spreads, especially beyond our clan, it might cause... complications."
The women exchanged looks, nodding in understanding.
"Don't worry, Clan Leader. We're not foolish enough to sabotage our own income."
They laughed softly among themselves, but the fire of ambition was already burning in their eyes. For the first time, the Uchiha women saw themselves not as passive members of the clan, but as valuable assets and now, paid ones too.
Because of the Uchiha Clan's recruitment of housewives, the income of Uchiha households increased. They could now buy more clothes and add meat to each of their meals.
Some husbands also discovered that their wives were suddenly earning more salary than them.
They felt happy but also a little ashamed, especially since they had only awakened a one-tomoe Sharingan.
Fortunately, the increase in Uchiha Clan salaries didn't reach the Hokage's attention, because the person responsible for approving salary payments didn't notice the change.
They usually just signed off on documents calculated by the staff. Although the staff did notice the payment increase—almost triple the usual amount—after checking it twice, they found the Police force had increased their force and didn't find it weird why the salary for Konoha Military Police Force increased.
The staff thought it was related to the incoming war and the threat from other villages, especially the one that had managed to destroy Uzushiogakure. They assumed the Hokage was strengthening the police force.
So the accountant simply keyed the new salaries into the system and sent the file to the Head of HR or whoever was responsible for final approval.
Faced with towering stacks of documents needing signatures, the approver only skimmed the titles before signing off:
"Uchiha Salary – Month XXX, Year XXX – Approved."
When Hikaku saw the money that had been approved, he was so happy that he invited Raiken to visit his house. But that's a story for another time, which is next month.
Right now, the Uzumaki Clan was busy—especially Raiken, who was training some members to become cashiers.
They even received new uniforms, marking them as the official clerks or cashiers of the Uzumaki Scroll Shop.
