Chapter 11 - Learning

Tyler caught up with Lucielle and picked her up.

"Wow. You're fast." he panted

Lucielle struggled, and Tyler sat down with her on his lap. He tried to catch his breath while preventing her from running away.

"Rafael said you might like sour stuff...." Tyler said

Lucielle replied, "What do you mean? What type of kid doesn't like sweets?"

" Because it's what you prefer, dummy." Tyler teased "I'm not good with sour so I'll meet you halfway. Or do you want to try savory foods?"

Lucielle's widen, her eyes turned green as she tried to 'see' Tyler. Tyler waited patiently for her to become less tense.

"Now. Shall we eat?" Tyler smiled

"NO!" Lucielle reacted

Tyler replied, "Alright. We can eat takeaway, but where should we eat it?"

"Huh?" Lucielle went

"I know I chased you but I wouldn't force you to do what you don't like. We're friends, we'll meet halfway."

"Do...they really do that?" Lucielle asked feeling frustrated "We can't be friends."

"It's my age isn't it." Tyler said with a sad expression "You think I'm old, don't you?"

"No." Lucielle panicked

"So we can be friends. Nice to meet you, dear old buddy, pal of mine." Tyler smiled

"YOU TRICKED ME!!" She yelled

Tyler stuck out his tongue and looked to the side. He saw a woman watching them with a strong gaze that made him feel uncomfortable.

" If you're friends with me you'll be hated by people and won't finish the case..." Lucielle said mumbling

"Hmm?" Tyler smiled

"You might die," she muttered in confusion.

Tyler came closer, "So you had a friend?"

Lucielle instinctively pushed back, "I need to go to the bathroom."

"Be my guest." Tyler smiled and his hand was raised in the direction of the public bathrooms

She pushed open the door when she was sure that Tyler wasn't following. Tyler looked at his watch and a woman walked in front of her.

"Mind spending time with me?" she smiled

Tyler smiled, "Sorry dear. I have a girlfriend and that's all you need to know. You've been following us only cause you like me? hmm."

"Fine. Stay away from that girl." The woman sighed

"Whom I associate with is none of your concern. That girl is going through crap and being alone will be the death of her." Tyler frowned

The woman laughed, "So you'll get yourself killed? Everyone in town knows that she gets people killed. If I were you-"

"Thank goodness. You're not me." Tyler answered with glowing eyes " I think you know who's killing the people and blaming a kid."

"....."

"Ha. I'm right, aren't I? Now that's pathetic. As a fellow adult, I'm ashamed." Tyler reacted

The woman pulled Tyler by the collar, "What can we do? They said they'd kill our loved ones if we didn't torment that girl. Why would I side with a stranger over my family?"

A smile spread on Tyler's face, "I've learned a lot in order to help Lucielle. Shall I teach you something too?"

"GET AWAY FROM THAT GIRL BEFORE MASSACRE FINDS OUT!!" She went

"What...if you were blind?" Tyler whispered

Her eyesight vanished and her body trembled to the ground.

"Everyone was against you." Tyler continued and blew a purple cloud into the air "Ah...a shimmer of hope appears only to be cruelly taken back."

"Please stop. I'll-" she cried

Tyler whispered, "It's so easy to convince you guys. I believe...you have a cute son, I'm quite good with kids."

The woman held Tyler's leg with shaky hands and a smile widened.

"This case and Lucielle's problem are so close together. I need to crack the case to find the root problem." Tyler thought blowing mist everywhere

The woman's eyes returned and she ran away.

"It's a small town. I'll find you." she heard Tyler say

Lucielle returned panting with green slime over her. Tyler raised one brow.

"I see. You had your own noble battle." Tyler nodded seriously

Lucielle frowned, "I was attacked!! But that's not the point."

"I agree. Now we really need to eat, I was thinking o-" Tyler began

Lucielle's eyes were green and her hands were in fists. Tyler looked at her to tell him what the problem was. She looked like she wanted to cry.

"Do your best to explain it. I can learn what I need to, to understand." Tyler told

At that time the twins, Sylvia and Delmira sensed it too. They instantly went into defensive mode and released spiritual energy all around them.

"S...something appeared." She mumbled "It...shouldn't...can't coexist...with me"

"Ah. We're fucked are we?" Tyler thought "Could they be speeding up their plans?"

Lucielle looked at Tyler and he smiled back at her.

"Can you teach me about spiritual energy and all the need-to-knows?" Tyler asked, "I won't force you."

"Can you learn while moving?" she smiled

Tyler felt a chill as he nodded to the challenge. He knew this would require a new level of commitment and focus, but he was ready to take it on. Lucielle pulled him back and the bench he was on disintegrated. He looked at the creature with a grey appearance with long, sharpened claws and fangs that were there.

"It came after I spoke to that woman. Massacre...must be quite scary." Tyler thought

Rocks slammed into the creature. Lucielle used so much force the rocks merged into a ball.

"Why do you and the twins hate these things?" Tyler asked to remember how they killed the old man

Lucielle hesitated, "They're man-made creatures with evil energy that eat away on life force of others"

"Man-made." Tyler went with a panicked expression and ducking a long-range attack "And a drugged town. Life sure is hard."

"Can you learn?" Lucielle asked with a scared face "You'll die if you can't."

Tyler saw more long-clawed creatures surrounding them. Sweat ran down his forehead and it felt like everyone was silently waiting for one side to attack. A shadow appeared over them and he looked up.

"Ah...doing good deeds. It is hard." Tyler sighed

The shadow, well actually tones of arrows descending down on them.
