Lucielle took in the sounds and smells all around her. The slight sounds of the creatures' claws hitting each other and the arrows cutting through the air. She raised her hands and let out a breath.
She made a gush of wind as sharp as a knife encircle them. The wind twisted forming a tornado around them and pulling the incoming arrows into it. Tyler's eyes widened.
"I'm really in another world." He thought
Lucielle pushed the tornado outwards toward their enemies. She turned to Tyler with a smug expression.
At that time. Rafael and the group were surrounded by larger-than-normal wolves.
"THERE'S SOMEONE THERE!!" Alexandra announced
Rafael's looked in the direction she pointed at.
"Delmira, fetch." Rafael went
Paisley went, "Wait-"
Delmira started to run as she transformed. Her powerful steps made loud thud sounds and Rafael ran behind her using spiritual energy to advance his body. Delmira wouldn't let the unknown person escape.
Purple circles appeared beside the running dog and red circles emerged behind the unknown person. The ground folded upwards, and Delmira crashed right through it and created a dust cloud. Her circles sped forward and Rafael heard the pained scream of a fellow human being.
He saw the unknown person was cut horizontally and the upper half was trying to crawl away. His disgust overtook him and he thought about killing the person as he stomped down on the torso.
"Who sent you?" Rafael managed to cough out
"Ha!" the woman coughed "I SHAN'T BETRAY THE LEADER!! YOU ARE DOOMED TO DIE!!"
Rafael suddenly shoved his fingers into the woman's mouth and prevented her from grinding her teeth.
"You're not dying yet. No more funny ideas." Rafael smiled pulling out her false teeth
Delmira sat behind Rafael and put up a barrier. He turned around and found the twins staring at them, well actually the woman. Their eyes had hostility of the highest level.
"Can you endure it?" Rafael asked
Alexander frowned, "I'll try."
"Whatever." Alexandra sulked "A briefcase, we forgot to give you, we don't understand anything in it."
"Shocker." Rafael smiled seeing the woman's enlarged eyes "I think it's lost."
"Yeah. During the fight." Alexander replied
She tried to hide it but Rafael felt relief from the woman's movements. He took a branch and stabbed her spleen accurately.
"Well?" Rafael asked
The woman smiled, "I won't betray the leader. Just kill me-arg"
Rafael stabbed into her pancreas and twisted it slowly. A loud clash caught everyone's ears, and the woman's face froze seeing Rafael's smile widen. An air surrounded Rafael and the intensity of his green eyes grew into a deeper shade.
He quickly removed the branch, slit her throat, and threw it in the North North-Eastern direction. Another woman became visible with the twig stuck deeply in her stomach. Rafael walked slowly towards her.
"You must be in pain." Rafael smiled " Shall I help you?"
Rafael hovered over her with a gentle expression. He pulled off a bag that was on her back and beamed before stomping down on her body. Her body became limp with a shoe print over her squashed heart.
The twins looked at him with stars in their eyes.
"Let's hurry and leave. Their group will soon come to find them." Rafael sighed
The twins raised up their hands, Alexandra made an orange flame and her brother made a grey flame. The bodies disappeared and left no trace.
"Good job." Rafael smiled patting the heads
"NO-" Paisley's voice echoed
She glared at him when she arrived. She saw everything but didn't want to disturb the process of finding clues. Also Paisley was a little scared.
Rafael stopped patting the twins and held Delmira's head to praise her as well. Since her mouth was sealed shut, the dog nuzzled him as her tail wagged. While Paisley was organizing her thoughts, they decided to walk away on their way home.
"Wait-" Paisley frowned
They burnt the house as well, found Tyler on their way home, and later separated from the twins'. Delmira was happy to return to Rafael's couch and got into her favorite spot.
"I have info." Tyler smiled
Rafael raised his brow, "Shot."
"I got permission from Lucielle to tell you about spiritual energy and those creatures." Tyler began becoming serious " Everyone is born with some spiritual energy. It's energy that forms naturally, it's in the air now"
"So they're not users?" Paisley asked
"I thought so too but no. The stronger and increased proficiency in spiritual energy gets..." Tyler went
"The less human, you become." Rafael ended
"You knew-" She frowned
"Yep. " Rafael replied " Team Gamma. Gamma is mostly about rays but in a way, it could mean third."
"Third? So, there was Team Alpha and Beta?" Tyler said " Anyhow. Originally the person has a core when they can use this energy more as they get stronger, the core grows and at some point, the wall of the core starts to disintegrate. The leaking energy merges with the vessel and try to make it a be to withstand having pure strong energy in their system. Something like that."
"You need to stop using it." Paisley frowned
"No can do," Rafael answered
Tyler smiled, "I won't stop either."
Paisley was about to see something when the photos on Rafael's table caught her eye.
"Why haven't you gone here yet." She asked
Rafael shrugged, "Can't find it."
"That's because it was remodeled the entire town." Paisley said "I research about the town before coming. It happened three years ago when the new mayor came into office."
"The school also got new staff around that time as well. Could be a mere coincidence but we can't let anything go to chance."
"Ah. ProjectM is Project Massacre." Tyler remembered, " They're watching the kids quite closely so be careful, Rafe."
"What did Lucielle say about the creatures?" Rafael asked
" She said she utterly hates them like an instinct. As you become lesser of a human you'll find them more disdainful. I don't blame them, those who use evil energy can absorb life force from everyone, and those with spiritual energy to get stronger. Still learning though"
"Isn't spiritual energy just as bad?" Paisley frowned
"Well. It's the better evil I guess. Death is destined to follow anyone who used evil energy." Tyler frowned " Willing to sacrifice people for power."
Rafael paused for a moment and thought of the high number of missing people cases swept under the rug. As well as the normalcy of death, he swallows as a thought into his mind. Realizing the gravity of his situation, Rafael knew that there was only the tip of the iceberg.
" Ever gone grave-robbing?" Rafael smiled
