Chapter 1 - Death and Reincarnation

Somewhere in the Heaven Realm

"Please, Goddess Giana, have mercy on us servants! We didn't mean to break your favorite vase!" two servants pleaded, bowing deeply.

"Shut up," Giana snapped. "I saw you two playing with it before it shattered. But because I'm a nice goddess, I'll let you live… with a punishment."

She says with a smirk as she raises her hand and begins to cast a medium-level lightning spell.

Instantly the two servants paled and started pleading even louder.

"Boo hoo, have mercy on our pour souls."

"Oh…? You're really going to punish your best servants over a vase older than you?" said another figure, stepping in with a glowing shield that blocked the servants.

"You old hag," Giana hissed, eyes glowing. "Always interfering with my work, but… since you want to play savior, then today you can face my strongest spell."

With a wild grin, she unleashed Heavens Tribulation Lightning, her most powerful attack.

"Giana, are you sane right now?" the woman growled, reinforcing her shield with magic. "I can't stop this from wrecking the Heaven Realm, I can only redirect it. And where it ends up… that won't be my fault."

The lightning struck the shield, losing some of its force, but still blasted out of Heaven's borders, tearing through the cosmos.

It shot across many different galaxies before hurtling toward a small blue planet covered mostly in water. As it entered the atmosphere, its target became clear.

On Earth

Raven hated being the new kid in school. She would always have to introduce herself like she was the newest artifact on display.

"Hi, I'm new here. My name is Raven. I'm an orphan… and I'm 16," Raven said flatly, showing no emotion.

She had knee-length black wavy hair, freckles, and tired light brown eyes that looked hollow, like all the joy had been drained from them. Even if she didn't show her emotions, anyone could tell the orphanage treated her badly. Still, people often called her pretty.

—Time Skip—

After a long, exhausting day, school was finally over. Raven walked back to the orphanage, dragging her feet. She hated that school and she never wanted to go back.

Suddenly, a sharp pain ripped through her body, and she collapsed.

"Call 9-1-1!" someone shouted as she hit the pavement.

Her vision blurred. The last thing she saw was a crowd of strangers running toward her with panicked expressions. And then…

Darkness.

Raven floated in a black and purple void for what felt like forever before waking up in an all-white room. Her head pounded as she tried to piece together what had happened.

"You're awake now and I'm sorry, my dear," said a gentle voice out of nowhere.

Raven sat up, startled. "Who are you? Where am I? Why are you saying sorry?"

Had she been kidnapped?

No, that didn't make sense. Too many people saw what happened. And she wasn't important enough to be targeted…

"I am Giana, the Goddess of Lightning, the Void, and Reincarnation. You are in the Heaven Realm. And if you haven't realized it yet—you're dead. And… I'm the reason for that. I'm truly sorry."

"You… you killed me?" Raven stammered. "No. No way. Take me back! I want to go back to the orphanage!"

"I can show you how it happened," she said softly.

Before Raven could respond, a glowing screen appeared out of thin air, showing the scene that led to Raven's death. The lightning bolt, the shield, everything. Raven watched herself fall.

Raven sighed. "So you accidentally killed me… fine. Then just send me back to my world."

"I can't," Giana says. "Your body in that world was completely destroyed, but I can offer you a new life in my world. You'll be reincarnated, and you'll get five wishes. Or, you can stay here in Heaven."

"…What's so special about your world?" Raven asked cautiously.

"My world has magic," Giana said with a grin. "And with enough power, you can do anything."

"Are you sure I can't go back?" Raven asked, a trace of sadness slipping through.

"I'm truly sorry, Raven. Is there anyone you'd be leaving behind? Anyone you cared about deeply?" Giana says with an apologetic tone.

Raven hesitates before saying. "…No. My parents died when I was born. I was an only child, I guess… I didn't have anyone."

"You poor child," Says Giana with a tone full of warmth. "Would you like to become my daughter?"

Raven's heart jumped. "You can just… make me your daughter?"

"I wouldn't lie to you, dear." Giana says with a welcoming smile.

Raven stared into her eyes and for the first time in forever, she saw real love.

"Yes!" Raven cried. "A thousand times yes!"

"Wonderful. You now carry my last name. Your name is Raven Belin." Says Giana

A golden light enveloped Raven, glowing warmly against her brown skin.

"What's happening? I feel… powerful." Raven says.

"You just received my divine inheritance," Giana explained. "Your body is being strengthened to accept it."

"Okay… m-mom," Raven said hesitantly, testing out the unfamiliar word. "I want to reincarnate… and I want my wishes."

"Of course," Giana smiled. "Do you want to look the same as you did on Earth?"

"Yes. And… why can I hear you but not see you?" Raven says with a look of confusion.

"You aren't strong enough to see my true form yet, and take all the time you need to think about your wishes." Giana says.

….

Raven spent a whole week getting to know Giana and thinking of which wishes she wanted.

"Okay. I'm ready. For my wishes, I want:

1. A system to help me in that world. It should show me my status, give me quests for experience, help me solve problems, store items in an inventory, and give me access to an infinite store where I can buy things using system points.

2. An ability that lets me learn anything instantly after seeing or hearing it once.

3. An ability to fully master anything after doing it once.

4. Infinite system points.

And… can I save the last wish for later?" Raven says with a cheeky smile.

"Very well. Those wishes are acceptable. You can contact me through the system if you want to use your final wish," Giana said.

"Once you arrive, the system will ask which kingdom and race you want to begin as. Me and a few other gods will be watching, so get strong and come back to the Heaven Realm someday, to be with Mommy."

"Okay… how do I get there?"

"Oh, silly me," she giggled, pointing behind Raven. "Just walk through that portal."

Before Raven left, she and Giana talked more about the new world she would be in, the gods, and anything else Raven could think to ask.

Giana wanted to keep talking, but Raven was excited for this new adventure, and Giana could see it.

"Bye for now, my child. I hope to see you soon," Giana said with a bittersweet smile and tears building up in her eyes.

"Bye mom, I'll see you when I'm strong enough, i promise." Raven says with a determined smile while saying the last bit as a whisper.

She stepped into the portal and instantly began falling from the sky.
