Chapter 2 - chapter1: The Invisible One

In a dining room that exuded grandeur and wealth.

A family of four could be seen dining quietly, each minding their business.

"Ryan, your room light was on until very late today. Were you up all night again?" The mother said still exuding grace but there was a hint of worry in her voice.

"Let him be, he's a man already after all. Ryan, how's the research coming up?" His father retorted.

Ryan, a young man in his early twenties with a distinct grey eyeball he obviously got from his mom and a sharp jawline, smiled at his parents.

"Dad, Mom. You guys seriously need to stop worrying this much about me."

Before Ryan could continue his mum interjected

"What are you saying? Mr Clark purchased some multivitamins, make sure you take some with you."

Ryan sighed "Alright"

The father sighed and resumed his breakfast.

At the end of the table sat the fourth in the family.

He never once lifted his head during the entire conversation.

Kayne was a plain teenager in prismatic glasses.

His grey eyes were still visible despite the glasses.

His gaze fixated on his plates, as he moved his cutlery aimlessly.

'How do I even tell them about the parents-teacher meeting?

My grades are already bad….

If they miss this…it would obviously drop more..'

Kayne felt a sharp pain in his head as he thought about this, just as he clenched his fist prepared to notify them about the meeting.

A loud laughter interrupted his build up

"Ha ha ha…That's my son. Keep this up and you would probably become the youngest director in our company"

He looked up to see his mother smiling proudly as she gazed at Ryan.

He muttered under his breath with a forced smile "Of course they wouldn't be interested" Immediately he stood up.

"I'm off." he said, not expecting a reply and none came.

Inside the Benz driving him off to school Kayne sighed.

He pulled out his phone. Only three contacts_Dad,Mom and Ryan. Each one had a heart emoji.

No new messages. He turned the phone off and closed his eyes.

The car drifted along the road.

"Mr Kayne,we are here."

Kayne opened his eyes, the driver had opened the door for him.

"Thank you" he said and alighted the car.

The driver bowed and drove off.

Kayne looked up at his school "Mc Reynolds high school" The best high school in the world.

A towering building of history and class, it was a whole new world.

Around the building were many sleek and expensive cars dropping students that defined "hyper high class"

McReynolds high school.

A school where legends, heroes, heroines, icons and leaders graduated from.

Only the top one percent can get admitted to this school.

Actually the prerequisite for getting admitted into McReynolds is either you come from a background of legends, heroes, heroines, icons or leaders or you just can't be ignored.

Kayne exhaled as he clutched his bag furiously as he looked at the banner "with unity and love we can achieve much"

Kayne scoffed "Bullshit. How ironic." he said as he stepped in.

Inside the elevator many whispers and mutterings were going on about him.

Kayne just stood patiently as the elevator moved floors.

'is Ryan Grey really his elder brother?'

'What? Don't tell me you mean the exceptional genius Ryan Grey?'

'So he really is the son of the richest man in Oraycon?'

Kayne sighed 'As if I asked for any of this?'

As he stepped out of the elevator, a memory resurfaced.

"What an unlucky boy. His elder brother has the highest IQ in the world," the first attendant commented.

"Is he really their son?I mean, his dad is a billionaire engineer, his mum, the mayor of our city and the daughter of the former president"

Pointing towards the room Kayne was she continued with disgust laced In her tone, "But he is too dull"

Meanwhile at the creak of the door stood the 6 yr old Kayne as he watched the two attendants speak.

Poff! A bottle hit Kayne's head, clicking his tongue.Kayne looked up at the handsome assaulter who wore a devilish smirk with his company of bootlickers.

"Loser. Didn't you hear the bell? Class have started"

"Ohh Steven. I've missed your ranting" Kayne replied with a smile.

Immediately he closed in and pulled Kayne by the collar "Don't get cushy with me looooser" He said gazing into Kayne's eye dangerously.

Kayne smiled deviantly "And your tantrums also"

Bang!!

The punch came pushing him to the floor. Pain exploded across his face.

Kayne smiled while cleaning the blood on his lips with his thumb.

Musing sarcastically "So much for a model student. How pathetic."

"Steven, what the hell are you doing?"

A feminine voice sounded in the empty hall.

Kayne looked up to the beautiful voice. Her hair was tied to a ponytail, porcelain skin and green eyes.

She had an ambience of grace and warmth.

Ignoring Jack she squatted beside the lost Kayne who was still on the floor.

"Kayne are you ok?"

'She knows my name? I can't believe this.' Kayne mused still gazing at her intently.

Jennie's nudge dragged Kayne from his train of thoughts.

"I'm....fine"
