Chapter 1 - It Has Begun

Sleeping on a panda should have cause alarm since they're still bears albeit less hostile.

That wasn't the case for the man with his height clocking around 5'7, Short black hair, A slim body and a face that was kinda childish wearing a grey sweater.

He woke up due to Po snoring loudly, oh well it seemed like a good time to get ready for the day anyways.

Whilst getting ready for the day he couldn't help but wonder what had landed him HIM! Of all people here in this universe specifically.

Whoever had given him the R.O.B treatment had a sick sense of humor since they hadn't provided him with any cheats nor wishes and while Kung Fu Panda wasn't the worst work of fiction to be isekai in since it was peaceful.... at least till after the villians were dealt with.

He'd look back on the panda whom he slept on and thought back on how he managed to convince Mr. Ping to let him crash here for free so long as he worked in the kitchen, all in all it was a pretty good deal but having Po as a roommate was... an experience.

Don't get him wrong, Po was a great guy and a great friend and he held no ill will towards him... but being here sucked since being in ancient china meant no technology which meant no phone. He'd practically grown up on technology so it felt really weird not being on YouTube right now.

He spat out his toothpaste and looked at his teeth in the mirror, there was a bright side to this and that his knowledge was intact so there was that.

After a quick nudge to try to wake up Po.

He had gone downstairs to prepare the tables and had gone outside the shop to put the sign that they were open.

Suddenly without warning a piece of paper had hit him in the face, taking a closer look at the paper after getting off his face had informed him that there was an upcoming dragon warrior tournament.

The events of the movie were starting to take place the question is, should he do something about it? Could he do anything? Probably not and besides he doubt that his knowledge would be of any use here since the outcome would end up being the same with Tai Lung dying to Po and said knowledge only extended to the movies not whatever shows came out after them

Perhaps it was better to not create a butterfly effect here. Maybe he should-

"Caleb! Did you finish setting up the tables!"

His thoughts were interrupted by Mr. Ping yelling out his fake name since he was paranoid about people he didn't know well knowing his real name so he decided to come up with a fake name.

"Uh yes Mr. Ping" he nodded towards the goose.

"Good now get back to the kitchen and start chopping up the veggies!" He asked rather loudly its a wonder how Po didn't wake up.

"Yes Mr. Ping" He made his way to the kitchen and started chopping up the leeks first while Mr. Ping went to clean the pots in order to be prepared for today.

It was a couple minutes before the sun was fully bright casting its glow over the Valley of Peace not that he could feel the heat of the sun since he was in the kitchen and Po should be waking up any moment now due to Mr. Ping telling his son to wake up since costumers were starting to arrive.

"Po get up you'll be late to work" he heard a couple thuds coming from Po's room which was probably due to him trying to get himself up from the floor.

[SYSTEM BOOTING...]

He was chopping the veggies while Po and Mr. Ping were conversing about a noodle dream, he couldn't tell because he was distracted by the blue, transparent, screen in front of him. He thought the little bunny that was patiently waiting for his noodles saw it but he didn't.

He'd ignore it for now since he had customers to serve.

"Hey Caleb go to tables 2,5,7 and 12" Mr. Ping's voice loudly distracted me from my thoughts as he was given a tray of hot steaming noodle bowls.

Caleb made his way to the designated tables to give the customers their food.

[Scanning Host…]

[Vital Signs: Stable]

[Mental State: …Questionable]

[Compatibility: 100% (You lucky bastard!)]

That screen was back and it wasn't really that much of a bother so he went back to the kitchen after delivering the bowls.

Loading Core Functions…

It seemed as though this system was loading slowly, hopefully this system wouldn't be cruel and put him into any unnecessary danger or a Gacha system.... that would be truly evil.

All he wanted was to have a safe life preferably like a background character.

XXX

In the courtyard of the Jade Palace

A small red panda sat with his eyes closed, he was playing with a wooden flute to make a peaceful tune, this was Master Shifu.

His eyes opened, just as a group of five. ambushed him from all sides, Quickly Shifu dodged all their attempts. First from a fang-less viper snake that tried to strike him from his left, He dodged a tigers claw by diving over a cranes straw hat. This pattern of attacking kept continuing while Shifu dodged with minimal effort from the attacks from his students.

These warriors consisted of Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper, and Crane who bowed as Shifu spoke.

"Well done students" He said like he was gonna praise them "If you were trying to disappoint me" but he wasn't. He pointed his flute at Tigress first "Tigress you need more ferocity. Monkey greater speed!, Crane height! Viper subtlety. Mantis!-"

"Master Shifu" Before Shifu could finish criticizing the five in full, he was interrupted by a duck.

"What!" The duck yelped as Shifu pointed his flute towards him and so the duck spoke albeit nervously.

"It's Master Oogway, he wants to see you" Quickly, Shifu dismissed his students for now as he ran off towards a large chamber of the Palace to see his master, he ran across the marble floor before composing himself and catching his breath.

"Master Oogway, you summoned me. Is something wrong?"

In the center of the room, surrounded by a legion of candles was a large staff thrice the size of Shifu. On top of the staff was a shell. The shell sprouted legs and arms and a head as the shell climbed down from its perch to greet Shifu.

It was an elderly tortoise who was considered a sage for his wisdom and kind nature. His name was Oogway and currently was having a bit of a problem but not enough to be overwhelmed nor lose his composure but his visions were concerning to say the least.

He had a vision of Shifu's former student/son (even if Shifu wouldn't admit to it) escaping his imprisonment but he had another vision afterwards that left him in a bit of a quandary. The vision was murky and he could only make out one figure of a species he was unaware of, that figure protecting an innocent child from a monster that was made out pure hate and that was all he could make out before his vision ended but having 2 visions back to back like that had left him a little winded.

"Why must something be wrong in order to see my old friend?" The old turtle asked as he walked towards the candle.

Concern had melted off of Shifu's face as he asked, "So nothing is wrong?"

"Well.... I never said that."

Confusion was all over Shifu's face as Oogway had started blowing out the candles slowly.

One by one.

Eventually Shifu had enough and simply thrusted both his hands out, creating a strong gust of wind that blew out all the candles in one fell swoop.

"You were saying."

Oogway's face had a hint of concern. "I have had a vision. Tai Lung will return."

Shifu immediately recoiled as images of claws and teeth thrusted upon him. A dark figure owned those teeth and a deep growl emanated from each image. Slowly Shifu composed himself as he retorted "That's impossible! He's in prison"

"Nothing is impossible" the aged turtle responded.

A look of horror had made its way to Shifu's face as he yelled for his messenger. As the messenger approached the red panda had yelled in his face, "Fly to Chor Ghom prison, tell them to double the guards, double the weapons, double everything! Tai Lung does not leave that prison!"

Recoiling from Shifu's yelling with a quick "Yes Master Shifu" and flew off to deliver the message.

"One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it" Oogway said knowing that this wouldn't work.

"Well we have to do something! We cant just let him march on the Valley and take his revenge He'll He'll-" Oogway silenced the red panda by placing his arm on his shoulder and directing his vision towards the pool's surface, "Your mind is like this water, my friend. When agitated it becomes difficult to see but if you allow it to settle, the answer becomes clear."

The sagely turtle lightly tapped the surface of the rippling water with the tip of his staff, allowing the rippling water to settle. The now clear reflection revealed a golden statue of a eastern dragon, clinging to the ceiling in the hall. In it's mouth rested a green and red scroll, decorated with a gold inlay.

Shifu gasped in realization as he looked upwards to the statue "The Dragon Scroll"

"It is time" said Oogway.

"But who? Who is worthy to possess the secret to limitless power? To become the Dragon Warrior?" Shifu asked.

A pregnant pause filled the air... Shifu could feel a sweat going down his brow.

"I don't know" Oogway responded simply.
