Chapter 8 - Final Decision

"Are you sure about this, Rayliegh? Once you go through with this, you will never be able to turn her back."

Rayliegh felt a strange sense of calmness with a hint of pleasure. He had never felt more comfortable being surrounded by these concepts, as if they would always be there for him.

"I am certain, Uldess, you said that she would become extremely useful in battle."

Rayleigh felt Uldess become a bit less composed, even though he could not tell how.

"Rayliegh, is there another reason for your decision?"

A memory flashed in Rayleigh's mind of him and Alex playing with another boy when they were little.

"You know the answer to that. She's the reason that Ben is dead, of course, I want her to regret accusing him."

"I understand how you feel, Rayliegh, but would Ben want you to do this? What you're about to do will haunt you for the rest of your life."

Rayleigh was starting to get irritated. How could Uldess understand that Ben, Alex, and he were like brothers, only to have Rita accuse him of plagiarism on his entrance exam to this school? Ben was meant for this school. He was the smartest out of all of us, but Rita had a crush on Alex and thought she would have a chance if they went to the same school. After she accused him of plagiarism, he fell into depression and eventually killed himself. Rita eventually came clean and said that she made it up, but by then it was too late; Ben was dead.

"Don't give me that,' would Ben want you to do this?' he is dead, and besides, this is for me. Rita has made my life a living hell from the moment she killed Ben. She wanted me out of the picture so she could try to get with Alex. So Uldess, NO, this is not JUST for Ben, it is for me!!"

Rayliegh is out of breath; he had never told anyone about how he felt about Ben, not his mom, not even Alex. He felt desperate, weak, and scared.

"I see Rayleigh, but you need to understand Rita was the tipping point for Ben; he would have died either way."

Rayliegh stopped at this remark.

"What do you mean by that, Uldess?"

"Ben was sick and no doctor could cure him. That and the fact that he was scared of leaving you and Alex made him depressed, and when Rita accused him, he couldn't handle not spending the rest of the time he had left with you two, so he decided to just end it. Rayliegh, you knew Ben. When did anything stop him, let alone someone accusing him of plagiarism?"

Rayligh realized that Uldess was right, Ben would never have given up unless there was absolutely no chance of him achieving his goals.

"So Rayliegh, have you calmed down and made a proper decision?"

Rayliegh suddenly felt the weight of his decision. Should he end Rita's existence or should she return her to her physical form? He then remembered that he didn't just inherit his father's power; he inherited his mission to end the demon lords. It isn't just a mission, it is a war, and he needed to be ready to bear the burden.

"I have decided, Uldess, I am still going to turn her to a true null entity."
