Chapter 1 - The 18th Birthday

Jaehwan stood at the base of the mountain, his eyes fixed on the peak above. Today was a special day - his 18th birthday. He had left the orphanage, determined to visit his parents' grave one last time before starting his new life. The memories of his parents were still fresh in his mind, and he wanted to pay his respects before moving on.

"I'm finally doing it," Jaehwan thought to himself. "I'm starting fresh, leaving the past behind. It's time to make a new life for myself."

As he climbed higher, the air grew thinner, and the trees grew taller. Jaehwan set up camp, planning to stay the night and stargaze under the star-filled sky. He built a small fire, watching the flames dance in the darkness. The sound of the wind rustling through the trees was soothing, and Jaehwan felt a sense of peace wash over him.

The next morning, Jaehwan visited his parents' grave, paying his respects and saying his goodbyes.

"Mom, Dad, I know I've been away for a while, but I'm starting anew. I want to make you proud," Jaehwan said, his voice filled with emotion. "I want to travel, to see the world, to experience new things. And after all that, I want to return to our family's roots in Europe. I want to walk through the streets of London, to visit the places you used to take me, Dad."

Jaehwan's eyes welled up with tears as he gazed at the grave.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save you," Jaehwan whispered, his voice shaking with emotion. "I'm sorry I didn't get to spend more time with you. I'm sorry I couldn't say goodbye."

As Jaehwan spoke, he felt a sense of peace wash over him. Like he was finally doing what he needed to do. He took a deep breath and continued.

"But I'm not here to dwell on the past," Jaehwan said, his voice firm. "I'm here to look to the future. I'll carry both our cultures with me, always remembering where I come from."

As Jaehwan finished speaking, he began his descent back to his campsite. As he walked, his footsteps echoing through the stillness, he stumbled upon a strange object half-buried in the earth - a wooden box. Jaehwan's curiosity was piqued, and he carefully picked it up.

"Looks like I found something valuable,"

Jaehwan thought, examining the box. He carefully placed it in his bag, wondering what could be inside. Given his love for fantasy novels, he couldn't help but imagine that this box might hold the key to unlocking some extraordinary power or destiny.

As the night fell, Jaehwan settled back into his campsite, gazing up at the stars twinkling above. He felt a sense of wonder and awe at the vastness of the universe.

The next morning, Jaehwan opened the box, and inside, he found a small glass jar containing a glowing, viscous liquid, and beside it lay a ring. The liquid seemed to pulse with an otherworldly energy.

"Ah, a magical artifact,"

Jaehwan thought, his mind racing with excitement.

"This must be the start of my epic journey."

With that thought, he chuckled to himself.

"Yeah, right, like I'm really going to become a legendary hero,"

Jaehwan said with a smirk,

"I mean, who needs magical powers when you've got fantasy novels to inspire you?"

A searing pain shot through his head, like a thousand needles piercing his brain. His eyes widened in agony, and he clutched his head, stumbling backward.

"What have I done?"

Jaehwan thought, his mind racing with fear.

"am i going to die?"

But just as suddenly, the pain stopped. A soft beep echoed through the air, breaking the stillness. Jaehwan's eyes snapped open, and he saw a holographic screen flicker to life before him. A single word pulsed with a gentle blue light: "REGISTER."

Jaehwan's mind reeled as he stared at the screen. What did it mean? What was happening to him? He felt a sense of trepidation, like he was standing on the edge of a cliff, staring into the unknown.

And then, everything went black.
